Lowe's and their subcontractors.

I had a lady call a few years ago. Their dog peed in their bathroom and it stunk. She told me they had the "upgraded, pet pad" installed when they got the carpet 6 months earlier. (installed by a Lowes contractor)

No problem, if that was the case. I did what needed to be done. She called the next day, said it still stunk. I went back and was going to inject some stuff......then I decided to pull the carpet up, since she told me there was no way the urine go into the pad since they had the "upgraded pet pad". (basically, a plastic coating on the top of the pad, so urine doesn't soak into the pad)

So, I pulled the carpet up in a corner of the bathroom. Nope, it was regular old pad. I showed her. Then I went to a couple of other rooms, with her, and pulled the carpet up in a corner. Yup - regular old pad.

She didn't mess around - called Lowes and had her bill in hand when she was on the phone. She said "I didn't get what I paid for". Long story short, this carpet installer was putting in regular pad when customers from Lowes had paid for the upgrade, and then he was installing the upgraded pad on his side jobs.

Lowes sent someone out to verify, then got a different contractor to pull up all the carpet on the main floor, pull the regular pad, and install the proper pad. No cost to the customer.

I bet it cost Lowes close to 6-7,000 dollars - probably more, as they had to move all the furniture, etc.

I don't have Lowes, or any big box store, install anything.

Actually. I had my plumbing company install the sink I purchased at Lowes. I didn't use the Lowes subcontractors to do the installation.

Daughter had her first "highway" driving experience today, (70 mph, merging, etc) and her first "city driving" experience today. She did great. But, she def. had some help from the old man sitting in the passenger seat. (help with knowing which lane to be in based on the next turn, help with, you know, how to actually get to where we're going, etc.)

She was pleased with how she did, and so was I. A few minor things, but, she did finally manage to miss all the dead animals on the road.

I know. My son.

I don't know that I'm a good dad, I'm just a dad.

I WILL say this: I'd never let my son "teach" my daughter to drive. Wow, last time I was in Columbus with him we went out to eat. He drove. I had to "correct" (read that as: I TRIED to ) him more then (at age 26) than I did my daughter today.

Rocket's a 'spring chicken' for sure... but I like his potential. He's thoughtful, engaged, and determined to be a good person. Three of the most important traits a person could have, imo.

AND... he's probably working on lesson plans for next week while he's posting here, so this old fart will give him a pass.

But I did have to take a moment when he said "10 years ago..."

Damn. I got 'Fruit of the Looms' older than he is....

Yesterday it was over 60 and sunny. I went for a walk outside in a tank top. I'm going to do the same thing today, probably with a sweatshirt on instead. It's still not so bad for a February day.

To anyone who reads this in the next couple hours, go outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. You'll feel better afterwards.

I'll be playing some soccer with my son and his friends this afternoon. It is still pretty nice for February!

I got out and rode my new fat bike on Saturday, and then got in a nice 12 mile run yesterday. To be able to do that in the middle of February without having to deal with snow & ice, much less being able to do it in shorts and t-shirt and sweating my butt off, is absolutely awesome.

Positive thing from Today?
I'm still on the good side of the dirt. That's enough to be grateful smile

Sooga's driving very well. I'm happy about that. She apparently even missed a dead animal yesterday, so that's an improvement.

My mom fell Thursday in the garage. She was about to be on her way to the hospital. Well, she got to the hospital - in an ambulance. Fell, sliced her head open on the wheel of one of their cars, and, broke her hip.

American health care at its finest here: Ambulance came, took her to the hospital. Checked out in the e.r. at about 3 pm give or take. Had surgery at 6:15 p.m. in our little podunk county hospital. (sarcasm in that last sentence)

She got out of the hospital Saturday, taken to a nursing home for re-hab. Basically, learning how to walk with a walker and one leg, as she can't put weight on the broken leg side.

She's doing great. I was at the hospital Friday. Was going to go Saturday, but that's when she got moved. Dad said she was extremely tired and maybe we should wait til at least Sunday (today) to go back.

Oh - 8 staples in her head. Dang, I didn't know what to expect. But, yup, there are 8 staples in her head. There's not much meat on the head til you get to the skull. How they put those in.......I don't know.

I'm glad she was able to be taken care of immediately.

Thanks. She'll be fine. Just gonna take some work on her part. On friday we were told she "might" get out of the hospital Sunday, but probably not til Monday. She's a very strong willed woman - she was out Saturday.

I've got good genes, let's put it that way. smile

It sounds like you inherited your hard head from her. wink

My 10u daughter pitched 15 2/3 innings today. First game 4IP, 0 earned runs for the win. Second game 4 IP 1 run allowed for the win. Third game 7 2/3IP lost game 6-5 in a ITB, nail biter. They lost in the championship game. I was trying to text towards the end of the game and I was shaking so bad almost couldn't send them out. They were up 5-2 going to the bottom of the 8th, mental mistakes, and a few errors cost them.

I am so proud of my little girl I could almost cry. After the game she started to say it was all her fault they lost, but I had to tell her it was a team effort and they all lost together.

My 15 year old freshman had softball tryouts for HS last week.

They had almost 70 girls competing for approximately 40 spots on the three teams, (Varsity, JV, Freshman) .

She not only made the cuts, she was the only freshman who made the JV squad.

Excellent!! You apparently are in a larger school district.

Our school district only has J.V. and Varsity. Sooga is on j.v. - she's a frosh also. 30 girls went out, and they cut 5.

A school not far from here - Delta - only had 11 girls even go out! Similar size school. That's too bad.

Pictures work. Cute kid.

As for me, it was nice enough today that my daughter had softball practice outside. Why is that good? Because otherwise, they practice in the gym, and the boys baseball team gets the gym after school. Why does that matter? Because it saved me one trip up town to get her, then take her back up at 5, then back to get her at 7:30.

Mom got out of the nursing home/rehab center on Monday. But, it was because she got shipped to the e.r. Now she's back in the nursing home/rehab center.

Had my dad over for dinner last night. He's been kind of lost with mom not being home. He hasn't been eating real well. Lots of stuff from the freezer.

Oh, did I mention the same week mom was diagnosed with diabetes, my dad was diagnosed with ..........? And then a week or 10 days later - I don't remember exactly anymore - but that's when mom broke her hip.

Like my dad said a week ago - Life changes, and sometimes it changes real quick.

The good news is, as of now, mom's doing better, and dad is very treatable, according to the doctors.

My dad is the dad every kid wishes they would/would've had. All this stuff has been tough on him - as it would be for anyone, really.

Thanks, yes, she is at Canton McKinley, which I believe is one of the largest HSs in Ohio.
