this team has no chance..if you can't even put up a fight missing one player then you won't beat anyone worth anything. I think the big 3 needs broken up and build this team better...Kyrie isn't good enough to carry a team and he won't change his game to play along side anyone. I see zero difference in Lue vs Blatt, in fact i think Blatt was better. If we don't win a ring this time, griffin should lose his job, he tied his horse to Lue. I really wanted us to come out, move the ball and play like we're supposed to without lebron ISO all the time and prove that the system works and the team is more than lebron..they failed miserably.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne
A very horrible defensive team, LeBron or not. Our guards don't challenge and everyone is constantly drawn away from their man in help defense. I think I could hit some of these open looks....
There's a chart out there that shows the meteoric rise of three point attempts the last few seasons. It's an interesting stat, has basically taken away the importance of a big man in the middle, while emphasizing shot chucking.
Here's some of the charts. Basically shows how the mid-range game suddenly becomes non-existent. I eagerly await the coach who comes up with the strategy to utilize this area.

You mean like Byron Scott and Derek Fisher/Kurt Rambis?
The mid range two is dead because it is not worth three points. There is no coach good enough to revive it. If there was a player who was a good enough player to make a very high percentage of twos, that might change things. But then again, if he is that good of a shooter, he should probably be shooting threes.
Maybe that change comes along the defensive side of the ball?
Some kind of strategy to better defend the 3 and piant because you ignore the midrange jumper.
What do you think teams are doing now? It's not like they are letting teams shoot three pointers.
Teams are guarding Curry as soon as he crosses half court.
And, obviously, they need to.
He is going to (maybe has?) change the game of basketball. Maybe for the good, maybe for the bad.
Let's face it, there's a boatload of college, high school, middle school, and elementary kids thinking "hey, all I need to do is hit the long ball". That's what Curry does, so that's what I'll do.

Dude is beyond impressive, no doubt.
The thing with Curry is that he has some of the best handles in the league as well. And he shoots of the dribble. And he's a great passer.
No one ever has come close to what Curry is doing now.

And it's working so well.
Perhaps they can make some change to take advantage of that stat. Something innovative. Don't ask me what though. I'm not a basketball guy so I'll leave it to some NBA gguy who does it for a living.
Is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them apart?
Please! The defense in the NBA is a rumor, especially on the perimeter. It's amazing how lazy defenses are. It's amazing how they don't defend the ball. It's amazing how they worry more about the pick and roll than anything else. It's amazing how many guys do not get back on D.
The NBA game is diluted because of the lack of defensive intensity and discipline.
The fans like scoring. The NBA gives it to them. Not too many basketball purists around these days.
i'll let you know how i feel about the coaching change come ECF/Finals.

Given the way the team imploded the other night with Lebron and then the epic loss today I hope we're even having that conversation then. With all the 'talent' that was brought in after the return one would've thought that we could've hung in there with the wizards today.
I'm not a bball analyst but I wonder what our team would look like if we'd have kept Wiggins.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...
we already know what happens when lebron isn't playing.
we seen it for 4 years prior to last year, and years prior to 2003.
he's the best player in the league. kyrie for was, 3 years was the only threat.
people like to talk up the importance of TT NOW, but nobody was high on TT prior to lebron coming here.
hell, love doesn't get traded here if lebron doesn't come up. and even with wiggins, it wouldn't matter, at least not last year or this year. we'd be 8th seed maybe.
all the personnel moves were made because lebron is here. i highly doubt any of the "talent" we have now except TT and kyrie even come to cleveland.
hell, who's to say kyrie even signs the max deal when he was a pending FA?
we'd be an 8th seed/lottery team without lebron.
so in lebron i trust, because we don't get to talk about finals any time in the remote future without this guy on our team.

If he would have just bought into what Blatt wanted, this team had/has enough talent to win the championship. Golden St is very good and the Cavs might not have beaten them, but man, they would have had a great shot.
Instead, LeBron wanted to coach the team. He wanted ISO instead of Motion w/Princeton elements. He wanted to talk about effort and then make a sloppy turnover and walk back on D.
Younger guys like Kyrie have followed his lead. Teamwork, hustle, ball movement, accountability? Not happening w/LeBron as the Cavs' leader.
The Cavs had a very good X's and Os coach here. They ran him out of town and are now a shell of what they were. The comments I posted by Andy and Bogat a bit earlier in this thread tell all...........the difference between the two teams is not about talent......it's about chemistry.

Why? It's really simple math. The shooting percentage for a 3-point shot is just a tick under what it is for a mid-range shot. Except that the 3 point shot is worth 150% more points.
Say you take 50 shots in the course of a game ... if you hit a modest 35% of your three point shots, you've scored 51 points. If you take the same number of mid-range jump shots, and hit 50% of them (which would be considered really good) ... you'd only come out with 50 points. So there's good reason the game is played the way it is.
I'm glad that Blatt's gone. He was in over his head and the players didn't respond to his coaching style. You blame the players, but some of that responsibility lies with the coach. I'm still up in the air about Lue, but it's definitely trending downward.

I agree with both of you, (swish & vers). Would the talent have come here if it weren't for Lebron? No, that's obvious. But this team shouldn't be getting beat this bad that has this much 'talent'. So why does it look just like it did when he was here the last time (but not on the floor) and after he left?
So yeah, there is no chemistry here and definitely no defense. If indeed Lebron is coaching while playing we're most likely doomed. He should shelve that desire until he's on the sidelines in a suit and tie every game, not just the ones where he's resting or recovering.

Vers is selling Golden State short. They're not just "very good" they may be the best team in NBA history. I mean damn, who in NBA history can do shots like this on frequent basis?
He may be selling the Warriors a little short, but his main point is this isn't the '96 Bulls going against the '96 Sonics. If the Cavs would play the right way they'd be nipping at the Warriors heels setting up possibly the greatest Finals of all time. As it stands, the two teams are diverging. That shouldn't be happening. They should be neck and neck.
