If I was them id go after Fitzpatrick as a 1-3 year bridge and draft someone this year...

Kind of like when they signed Manning and drafted Brock.

No I'm not comparing Fits to Manning.

That's a pretty good thought.

I was actually thinking the Browns should go after Fitz. They won't, but ..........

Fitzpatrick is better than McCown, but having both is pretty redundant (I would guess you would release McCown in that scenario).

Neither area good options for the long term.

No, I wouldn't want Fitz long-term. I think he could give you 2-3 years until you find your qb of the future. Then, the Browns could improve their many needs at other positions and get a couple of impact players.

I know you want the Browns to draft a qb, but there are options out there.

Then again, some of what's happening in FA is making me wonder if they even have a clue as to what they are doing??????????

Crazy that the Jets had good QB play for once, but then can't afford to re-sign that QB unless they gut their team for cap space.

Get ready Geno!

Long term is irrelevant here.

We'll be on our 3rd string QB by week 8 by the way the oline is shaping up. We better have 3 good QB's to platoon.

Putting a rookie QB behind what our offensive line might be is disastrous.

Teams with far worse olines get by with one QB all season.

By the sounds of it, what our offensive line is "likely" to be. Mack and Mitchell gone, wow I feel bad for any Qb dealing with that, let alone a rookie.

I would ask this: How many times have we been down to our 3rd QB to end the season? We have not been able to run for the most part, and yeah, I know the QB gets some blame for holding the ball to long, but come on man, this same OL has us winning 3-5 games a year, maybe it's time we slide out of the top 2-3 OL's and try just an avg. line and see if we start winning a lil more rolleyesdevil

If our line was all that we'd be able to run more and our Qb's would not be dropping like flies. The only one on this line worth keeping is JT, we can't win with the rest of them so why mess around? Get new players, I'm sure we can win 3 games with someone new.

I would not mind having Fitz on the roster. He's a decent downfield thrower and he's got a brain. Hell, I'd keep McCown around too until I saw what he can do in this O. Draft a QB if you want and you have two vets around him. Two solid working vets.... Not a bad thing. Any QB we draft could sit for a year. Not a terrible thing either....

Any improvement to the QB room is just fine with me. Draft one, trade for one, sign Fitz.... do all three...whatever it takes.

I actually do understand the sentiment of this post. 100%. It's just when I think about the "new" players coming in like Cameron did last year, it's just not only taking steps backwards, that was, imo, taking leaps backward. Not saying he can't improve or won't, but the thought of how Irving played last year now and doubling that at two positions... yikes bro.

It's not like we're excellent at hitting home runs in the draft.

Yeah, I know. But you know how many years we've had this great line, and how many QB's we've gone through, to what end? Let's try some play makers and see what happens, that doesn't mean we should not look at OL and up grade here and there, but taking these guys rd.1 and rd. 2 year after year just aint cutting it. Were missing on play makers

Cameron sure didn't look good. For him to improve enough to even be moderately effective it will take significant work. He needs to hit the gym a LOT this off season. Pick up Shelton on the way. Both those guys need to be gym rats big time.

A good mixture of both would be nice. We had a GM that wouldn't think of drafting a playmaker and that sucked, but I wouldn't want to go too far the other way either. I do agree we NEED some playmakers. A solid running back and some WR's over 5'10 would be great.

How much guaranteed? Ultimately, it could be 4 years and $720m if that last year is $675m.

Osweiler got $37 million guaranteed. That makes him the 15th highest paid QB by guaranteed money.

He has started seven games in four years.

Good for him, I guess. He is not worth it, IMO, but someone offered him that money. That's on Houston, not Os.

I do not begrudge anyone for taking the best offer they can get. It's what almost all of us would do.

There are people saying Osweiler was unhappy with the way Denver handled him and his playing time.

In acquiring him maybe..

As a Quarterback, not so much.

They will have to give up a lot in trade to get him (Kap trade w/49ers) now that Denver is in the bind its in. Look for them to go with RG3??? of course Kubiak is friends with the Shanny family so I don't think that is on the list.

That leaves Fitzpatrick!

Mack, Schwartz and Gipson gone.

Kap coming?

Sounds like a logical and putrid progression. But on a bright note, at least they understand we'll need a QB who knows how to run for his life.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
