If anything, I believe this trade is the worse thing that could happen if the Browns want to trade down out of the pick.
Yes, it's possible that a draft day trade could be made IF the Rams choose a QB other teams didn't see as their target QB and want the one remaining. There's so much smoke and mirrors surrounding the information being disseminated this time of year that all of it has to be taken with a grain of salt from now until draft time.
When and if we find that the Rams are in contract talks with either Goff or Wentz, no one can say with any certainty who their target is. What I do believe this trade up points out is that despite many posters insistence to the contrary, there are and were teams that felt one of these QB's was well worth the #1 pick in the draft. As the Titans pointed out, the Rams weren't the only team they were in trade talks with.
Despite the differences in opinions on this board, I don't believe there are two QB's that are worthy of such consideration. I believe that NFL FO's are much more on the same page on who that QB is than our board members.
We are no longer in the cat birds seat here. Unless some team is willing to pay a kings ransom for the second best QB in this draft, our odds of trading down is now greatly diminished. That hasn't happened since the RG3 draft and it serves as a shining example involved in the folly of such a decision.
I believe we are stuck at #2 without any pick in this draft really being worthy of the selection. no QB in this draft is worth even a top ten pick imo...but at #2 I would be with Tunsil, Bosa, Jack, Ramsey (my fav), Buckner or even that WR fella what's his name?? Treadwell. I would really like to stop trading back and for once go BPA

Furthermore, reports indicate Goff is the Browns target, not Wentz.
Smoke screen.....we wanted Wentz but feared that another team would jump them so they let it be released that they wanted Goff. Didn't work.

Maybe other teams don't care what we want and made trades to better themselves regardless.

Rams lean Jared Goff today, but one reason they made trade now was to get two weeks to debate top 2 QBs because "both are going to be good." https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/720695491709825024The Rams are meeting somewhere near me. I should go there and try to convince them Wentz is the right pick to make.

You make that trade KNOWING exactly who you want.

We will know within the next couple days, Fisher has too many buddies in the media for this not to leak.

Yeah, I mean do they really think they're fooling us after coughing up the bounty they did NOT knowing who they wanted to pull the trigger on?
Doesn't take the sharpest knife in the drawer to cut through that bs.

Every day until the draft they will be leaning a different way..
Don't be surprised if a report leaks they are considering a Non QB still..
Because that's what the NFL wants leading up to the draft.

idk for me I am tired of going backward I would much rather get high end talent when have the chance and I think Tunsil or Ramsey would be great for the team...and if the team we trade with to get the 1st rounder next year and they blow up and hit the playoffs...then that 1st round pick doesn't hold the value our 2nd over does this year even with the 7th pick

Pick the correct players and you don't have to worry about where they are picked. Who you rather have Odell Beckham, Derek Carr, and whoever is better than Cam Erving or just Odell Beckham and Derek Carr.

I'm still all for trading out to 7 or 8. It's the perfect spot. Maximizing draft value while still getting a major defensive talent. With qbs going 1 and 2 SD likely goes Ramsey. Perfect fit. Between the Cowboys, jags and ravens 3 of bosa, tunsil, Jack, buckner and hargreaves leaving at least 1 for us. Even more choices if elliot or Stanley is overdrafted. I'll take buckner and an extra 2nd and then some please.

They are only one pick above us and therefore it could only be bad for us in one way. If the Rams take the QB that we had our heart set on. What would have been bad for the Browns in more than one way is if this came out of nowhere when the Brown's suddenly were on the clock. Then they would not have much time to deal with it. Now they suddenly have more leverage because they have 2 weeks to auction the pick off if they want or 2 weeks to go the scouting reports of the player they want to take at #2.

Besides a lot on here think they traded up for Wentz, no one really knows, and if we stay @ 2 to pick @ QB I hope Wentz goes first, I would take Goff over Wentz everyday of the week ... JMHO

Listened to moving the chains today and Pat Kirwin had a very interesting conversation with Adam Schefter. If you can listen to it on the internet, it ran from round 5:00 to 5:20.
For anyone interested in what I can remember:
Schefter had several texts from people who would bet the Rams traded up for Goff. Including one source that he has a lot of faith in
Kirwin says the source he has faith in is telling him Wentz.
He also notes that as far back as two weeks ago he heard that the Browns weren't interested in taking a QB at #2
Kirwin disagreed and thinks the Browns were/are planning on taking a qb.
Schefter got a text while on air saying - don't be surprised if the Browns trade down 3 or 4 times.
There were a couple other things but I am going by memory and don't want to post something that I am not >90% certain that I am remembering accurately
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

I wouldn't be surprised by that. At this point there are so many weaknesses on this team, I believe they think they can build it with bodies, not true playmakers which we've lacked since the team returned since 1999.
Lots of bodies without drafting any highly ranked playmakers sounds like a plan, right?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
