He costs us absolutely $0. He's not taking a roster spot. He can't be in the building to "poison" other players. And lastly, we'd get absolutely 0 by cutting him.
So, why do it? We can't, or we would have long ago. Keep polishing that turd Arch. We can't cut him? Is that what you're saying? Look, the, in your words, "turd" isn't even in the city to be polished. He's on his own. Here, let's try this. I give you a piece of paper. The paper used to be worth $100. But, as of now, that piece of paper is worthless. However, it COULD become worth $10, or even $1000. It costs you nothing to put that piece of paper in a drawer for 1, 2, maybe even 3 years. As of today, no one would give you anything for that piece of paper. What do you do with it? Keep it? Or toss it.

It makes no sense the logic applied by certain people. Yeah, he's dumb, he's created endless mistakes, he's not reliable, he's negative this, he's negative that... but why would we cut him?
I'm like, why WOULDN'T we cut him? Thankfully we're all entitled to our opinions and technically, neither side is right/wrong and even more technical - neither side has any influence on whatever Josh does, what Sashi will do if not reinstated, what he'll do if he is and just so on...

I was under the impression that people want to cut him right now.
If he is somehow reinstated (which I am not optimistic about) and he shows up and acts a fool, then I am all for cutting him.

Piling on? I thought that was what you dislike most around here? Or is that just when it's you being piled on?

I think the bigger punishment is holding onto him. Cutting him gives him the power, albeit very little because of his situation, to be in control of his future. He can be free to shop his talent around. Or at least feel empowered to be a 'free agent'. Now he's got nothing. No team. No job. No pay. No freedom.

You have to be reinstated to be a NFL free agent. He can't even go to the CFL while under NFL suspension. I doubt he's reinstated before the season starts. I have my doubts he'll ever be reinstated. And if he ever is reinstated I give him half a season before testing positive again.

Even if he comes back, we have no idea what he will be... he had 1 average season and 1 very good season 3 years ago..
If somebody with his resume was cut by another team, there would be very few on here wishing we picked him up.

You avoided the question. The fact is that the Browns have not upgraded the WR position while they have had Gordon under contract.
That could be a coincidence or it could be because they were counting on him?
No one here knows the answer to that. Not even you.
Why would they? Meathead is returning. He's our hero. Greatest WR to NOT play the game. Why, what would we possibly do without the great and awesome meathead? One thing is certain, we might trade JT, we might cut McCown, but when the sun burns out meathead will still be a Brown. And he SHOULD be. He is the fricken poster child for thie franchise. They should put his face on the helmets. Dumb as a box of rocks and a BORN loser. He's the PERFECT Brown. That's why no one want's to cut him. They would rather hope against hope that this moron squeaks by the next piss test so he can play for a couple games before he gets suspended again. Hopefully, after we cut a good player to keep the bum. I'd really like that. Come on meathead, stop getting high JUST long enough to cost a good kid his spot..... Man, it's like these guys think he's Jerry Rice or something. He had ONE very good season. Not a GREAT one, but a very good one. ONE. He's been suspended MORE than he's played. But we just HAVE to keep him. This team wouldn't exist without the dumbest human on the planet. *snicker*

Gives him what power? You see anyone beating down Johnny's door? Who the hell is going to sign a player that has been suspended MORE than he's played? Oh yeah, I see huge contract offers in meatheads future..... LMAO NFL teams LOVE guys with an IQ around 75 and poor self control. Idiots with subtance problems are all the rage....

Two days after winning the Super Bowl Steve Young goes in to pick up a few things he left in his locker. He walks by a window and what does he see? Jerry Rice, all by himself, out on the practice field RUNNING ROUTES. The guy had four rings on his fingers and was out running routes a couple days after the SB. THAT is the kind of WR we need.
Does anyone see even 1% of that dedication in meathead? Of course not. The minute practice is over meat would be heading for the door. Time to PARTY. This is the guy we just CAN'T cut because he's the greatest ever..... Hardly. We need to find REAL football players that actually want to play football. I'd rather have a no talent scrub that WANTS it than meathead who so obviously doesn't.

His problem is he can't lay off the weed.

Gee he's my hero. lol Oh and it's not just weed. His first bust was for codiene and there was a lot of Coke and Shrooms at that party of Johnny's..... Then of course the DUI while waiting an appeal hearing for his weed bust.... Seems like meathead thinks a lot like that song from Alice in Chains.... Junkhead A good night, the best in a long time A new friend turned me on to an old favorite Nothing better than a dealer who's high Be high, convince them to buy What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got? Content and fully aware Money, status, nothing to me 'Cause your life is empty and bare What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got? I don't go broke And I do it a lot I do it a lot, yeah You can't understand a user's mind But try, with your books and degrees If you let yourself go and opened your mind I'll bet you'd be doing like me And it ain't so bad What's my drug of choice? Well, what have you got? I don't go broke And I do it a lot Say, I do it a lot! I do it a lot! I do it a lot! Say, I do it a lot! Sounds exactly like meathead(junkhead) doesn't it?

Players can workout and have fun too. I know for a fact he has been working out.
I will never dispute Gordon has a drug problem.

Working out HOW exactly? Hitting the gym isn't FOOTBALL working out. You don't get my story of Rice. Rice WANTED it. He had four rings, a LOT of money in the bank, and he STILL was out there running routes just days after winning a championship. Make no mistake. Rice partied. Hell, he said on the sidelines of the SB, "The boy is going to party tonight". Couple days later, he's right back out there running routes all by himself. Running the HILL He wanted to be a great player. Meathead wants the MONEY. That is his only motivation to play football. He got his rookie money and then started partying heavy. The money is what he's after. Gives him the means to just do what he wants. He is like the opposite of what a great player is. Of what it takes. Which certainly pisses me off to no end. The guy could have had one hell of a career. If he had one tenth of the desire Rice had. Or any of the truly greats had for that matter....

Also, even if they were mocking the team, which they aren't, who cares? First on subject, I hope Josh pulls his head out of the pipe and creates multiple Browns highlights on ESPN for many years. About the team being mocked, the local radio station made a comment the other day that the Browns were going to use the 8th pick to draft Johnny Manziel for the 2nd time since they don't have a clue on how to get it right. I don't listen to that station any longer.

At the rate it's going, it won't be long until JG is the player we will have an option on that's been associated with the team longer than anyone on the roster.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Jim Brown: Browns' Josh Gordon 'in rehab, feeling good about it'http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/159085...s-conversationsPat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Cleveland Browns great Jim Brown has talked twice in the past month with suspended receiver Josh Gordon, and Brown likes what he heard, he told Cleveland.com on Thursday. "I've talked with Josh twice on the phone, and the last time I talked with him, he sounded very motivated, and I think he was in rehab and feeling good about it and discovering some things about himself,'' Brown told Cleveland.com at the Cleveland Browns Foundation's charity golf tournament. "He really seemed ready to take responsibility for himself.'' Brown did not provide details on the rehab but said he thought Gordon was home when the two spoke. Drew Rosenhaus, Gordon's agent, declined to comment. Gordon was banned for one year from the NFL in February 2015 for violating the league's substance-abuse policies. He was also suspended 10 games by the league and one game by the team in the 2014 season. Gordon has missed 27 of the team's past 32 games because of suspensions. Brown said owner Jimmy Haslam and coach Hue Jackson would "be very happy to have [Gordon] back" if he adhered to the league's rules. The Browns have continually said they will not address Gordon's situation until the league decides whether Gordon will be reinstated. Gordon's application for reinstatement was denied in April, but the NFL told him he could reapply after Aug. 1. If he is reinstated, the team will sit down and talk with Gordon and see his frame of mind and attitude before making any decision on taking him back. The Browns took four receivers in this year's draft, including first-round pick Corey Coleman.

Helpless cause, but I admire the course of action. *edit* then to be real, Jim said he talked with Josh twice on the phone, and deems him ready? Over two phone talks? How do you tell someone is motivated in the right ways over the phone? Maybe Jim needs rehab.

OK....
From what I recall he had a diluted sample and gets to retake a test in a few months or something, right?
I think the rehab talk is part of the plan from the Gordon camp to show 'effort' with the league when he passes, maybe?
Still doubt he is on the roster if all goes well on his end and he's reinstated...unless all these drafted WO show absolutely nothing early on.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

If he's in rehab, then he was still smoking weed like crazy and the diluted sample wasn't a fluke like he tried to make it seem.
I read the title, but it doesn't sound like he was actually in rehab. It sounds like people want us to think that he's in rehab.
Sorry, Josh. You are well past the point of receiving the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry, Josh. You are well past the point of receiving the benefit of the doubt. Actually, I'd bet money rehab was part of his reinstatement requirements/needs. Noone can disclose that info due to the policy, but I'd bet money the league said rehab, show proof of enrolling/completing... or stay out of the league.

Obviously, nobody really knows what is going on with this guy, and what his situation is. I'm just trying to read the tea leaves as best I can.
It seems that whenever confidential info can benefit the Gordon camp, it is released in a clear and definitive manner. This time it was not. Brown mentioned that Host was in rehab but called him from home... I just don't buy it.

In AA, there's many sayings. One of them is, "You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk." Saying all the right things is easy, especially when you are in a rehab setting. But saying it and doing it are 2 different things. Josh has repeatedly said the right things over the years, starting in college and into the pros. Yet here we are, years after his first of many suspensions for marijuana use, discussing whether or not he means it this time. And he does mean it, he's meant it every time he's said it. But he has yet to demonstrate that he can put words into action.

Sorry, Josh. You are well past the point of receiving the benefit of the doubt. Or Jim Brown doesn't know what he's talking about. I know that JB is a Football God around Cleveland, but he's been wrong a lot. He's been right also,, Remember his take on TRich? On this, I just don't know. It can really go either way.

One side of me says just dump his drama for good, but if he is reinstated by the league, we should take a chance on him. His talent is worth the small risk.

It's funny, but the only drama being seen around here is by fans.. You don't ever hear the browns talk about him unless asked a specific question and the answer are always really short

Keep it? Or toss it. Of course you keep it. Above all else you keep it. If your house is burning down you rush back in and passing by your 59 Les Paul and the Picasso hanging on your wall you grab that piece of "paper"(I'd use another word) and you run. LMAO I find it hilarious that anyone thinks the piece of "paper" will ever be worth anything again now that it has a big ole "paper" stain on it.... It is my hope that day never comes. I hope he's not reinstated. If he is, I hope that's the day we cut his dumb ass. I don't want stoner boy to be partying with the rooks. Stupid is contagious.

By drama, I mean the constant screw ups he has put forth. Again, the only ones talking about it is the fans. Even the media doesn't pay attention to him anymore..LOL
