I feel like this is a getting cute/outsmarting people pick.
Maybe our guys know something else...but it just seems like a typical Browns "no one will see this coming" pick.

great athlete with bad hands. Mayle 2.0 That's pretty much the general viewpoint I've heard/read about so far.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

would rather have had Cooper, Burbridge, or a RB

I know nothing about him, other than some feel that he will be a CB convert.

I wouldnt even bother to continue working him at receiver. Move him to free safety and be done with it. His long frame, bad hands and immediate burst screams FS for me.

I don't know anything about this kid except he's fast.
Adding speed to speed, I like the thought process and measurables profile; I'm unfamiliar with his tape though...
Name: Ricardo Louis College: Auburn Number: 5 Height: 6-2 Weight: 215 Position: WR Pos2: KR
Combine Invite: Yes Height: 6016 Weight: 215 40 Yrd Dash: 4.43 20 Yrd Dash: 2.61 10 Yrd Dash: 1.57 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 18 Vertical Jump: 38 Broad Jump: 11'00" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 3-Cone Drill: No Full Workout-Groin
Can't speak to the accuracy but here is nfl.com/Lance Zeirlin
Analysis
Strengths Thickly built wide out with a frame comparable to a running back. Handled substantial workload increase with dismissal of Duke Williams. Former "catchÂ-andÂ-run" receiver who proved effective with more complex routes. Gets open downfield with crisp routes and acceleration out of his breaks. Uses leverage, head fakes and subtle directional change to separate. Makes first tackler miss and will finish his run with some pop. Ran sweeps in Auburn rush attack and showed good field vision as runner. Aware and effective with footwork near sideline. Second gear is present against cornerbacks on skinny posts.
Weaknesses Issues with focus drops and hauling in the tough, downfield catch with greater consistency. Gives away receptions by waiting rather than working back to throws allowing defenders to close and defend. Scheme created several openings in coverage he was able to exploit. Has route "tell" tied to stride length off the line. Stride much different off snap for deeper routes. On underneath routes, tries to push cornerbacks with arm churn over early acceleration.
Sources Tell Us "Don't see anything draftable about him. I don't like his routes and I don't like his hands. You like him better than me, I guess." -- NFC southeastern area scout
Bottom Line This past season was Louis' first opportunity to be more than just a "run after catch" option and he showed potential as a downfield option. Louis has good size and could help himself with a good 40 time at the combine, but he's still raw and his hands aren't consistent enough. It may take a little while, but I see enough upside in Louis to consider him a future NFL backup with some "big slot" potential.

The highlight vid (for what it is) shows the dude looks like a play maker. There are a few acrobatic catches in there. Can't attest to the drops, however.

This ONLY makes sense if we're moving him to DB. Even then - why take a total project who nobody else is going to draft at WR as a complete flyer facing a position change....in the 4th round?
Why?
Because Browns.

We're tanking without tanking. Playing for 3 years down the road apparently. Might not be the worst idea if Jimmy can sit tight.

I mean hey, not scouting a guy and having no contact with a player then pulling his name out of a hat on draft day worked pretty well for us with Justin Gilbert. What's to say it won't work out just as well this time? We "tricked" EVERYBODY. What's not to love?

The guy cant catch and last time i checked that is a requirement for receivers in the NFL. Although the ones we draft never seem to be able to do that. Greg Little, Travis Wilson, Edwards, Quincy Morgan, now Louis and Coleman.

Well, I was referring to Gilbert, who we DIDN'T scout - and drawing the parallel to this pick.
But - we've got lawyers and accountants and data analysts - we don't need scouts anyway. Waste of time and resources. We got this.
Because Browns.

Lewis was drafted as a potential play maker. You have a physical player with 4.43 speed. He is a raw receiver coming out of an offense that is run heavy. Hands must improve. He ran end around and reverses fairly often for Auburn. How is this stat for a WR. 580 career yards rushing.
He gets open down the field and has YAC ability.

Can't the Browns only meet with 30 prospects before the draft? Outside of combine/Proday/NFL college bowls.
