The Browns drafted fourteen players. The roster is full of inexperienced players and many will have to start.

The premier position of quarterback is a question mark.

I doubt that any analyst would look at the Browns roster and predict anything more than sub 500.

That is understandable.

Hue Jackson and his staff have a lot of coaching to do with the inexperience on the team and installing new schemes.

The things that are unpredictable are how hard a team will work? And in this case how all the new players will fit into what the coaching staff envisions.

By seasons end we should know more about how well the team drafted and what needs to happen in order to compete at a higher level.

The bad thing is that this team is really inexperienced.

The good thing is that they have the opportunity to mold these young players in the way they want. There will be no "unlearning" for many of them.

I think that there are some top flight coaches on this team. Hue Jackson was my choice for head coach. When we hired Chud, people got sick and tired of seeing me write about wanting Bruce Arians. I guess the Browns listened to me this time around. rofl I do think that Hus is an outstanding coach, and he was shoved into about the worst situation a coach could face when he was in Oakland. I think that he will do well here. That said, it will take time. I don't mean that it will take months ..... but that it will almost certainly take a minimum of 3 years.

I remember how the Bengals went prior to Marvin Lewis being hired. They went 3-13, 4-12, 4-12, 6-10, and 2-14. Lewis arrived, and the Bengals went 8-8, 8-8, and finally 11-5.

Lewis's 1st Bengals team, the one that went 8-8, did not tear down like the Browns have. They had John Kitna, Rudi Johnson, Corey Dillon, Chad Johnson, Peter Warrick, (who while a disappointment, still added 700 yards receiving and 7 TDs) and others. They had a solid OL, with players like Eric Steinbach, Levi Jones, Willie Anderson, and Mike Goff. They had some talent on defense, in the form of players like Clemons, Justin Smith, and Tory James.

They did not have a team that had been dismantled down to the rafters. It still took them 3 years to get to a winning record. They hit on their QB, Carson Palmer, early on.

Hue Jackson and his staff have a huge, difficult task ahead of them. This is going to take time. Anyone expecting this to turn around this year is going to be horribly disappointed. Right now, we have very few players who could start for other teams. I could list Joe Thomas, Bitonio, Greco, Duke Johnson, Barnidge, Haden, and maybe Des Bryant. That's really it. Some will throw out names like RG3, Paul Kruger, and others ..... but realistically, these players would not start elsewhere unless that team had few other options.

The future of this team will depend on how the young players develop, and how quickly they develop. We have exactly 12 players with 6 or more years experience. Josh McCown, Tramon Williams, Paul Kruger, Marlon Moore, Rahim Moore, (even having been signed as a FA this off-season) and maybe even Andrew Hawkins should not feel secure as far as their spots on this roster. Moving to the 5 year veterans, and we get to players like Tank Carder and Austin Davis, who are probably on the bubble right now.

We could easily open this season with only 9 players with 4 or more years experience. (5th year pros) This team will be very young. It will be extremely hard for them to win more than 4 games, and even that may be an outlier. If we win 6 games, Hue Jackson should be NFL Coach of the Year.

Well thought out.props.
The turn around with the Browns starts with the right field general in place.
I don't see a franchise QB on the roster now.
I see stop gaps until that guy comes around.
This offense will struggle early and often.
While their opposing teams offenses are moving the chains
Executing their playbook without thinking too much
The Browns offensive players will be learning new roles....plays..adjusting to this level..
That's the other part of this equation...the Browns don't have a defense that can create turnovers and flip the field giving the offense short fields.
And it has a very porous return game.
Their is no kick return threats at all.
Huge difference from starting at the 23 than the 36.
This team has very little margin of error on both sides.
It will be easy for other defense to scheme against
And other offenses don't have to worry about a pass Rusher
Or skull thumper at lb

That is what is going to make this fun... when we double last years win total even though we had such a "great" team.

Disagree with some of your post- our O will stink, haven't played a down yet with this O, Gordon had 5 TDs rookie year and he wasn't nearly as dedicated as Coleman-and IF Gordon does anything its bonus...plus several of other WR rookies were career leaders at schools/with character, with Hawkins or any of that combo we could be GOOD...Benji, rabbit is gone, but Coleman will be BETTER and Johnson out of backfield will have yr experience..JMHO, the O could be LOT better- especially with new HC vs fired Def HC last year...our D can't pressure- well Horton's D did when he was here last AND he has some pieces to work with- Haden out most of last year, if he's back to Almost his best, with slim Shelton AND high character and Productive college players coming off bench...OUR D could be lots better- we tried the read and react xstuff last year and nobody wanted to play that scheme....I truely believe we'll be better across the board and could win a few more than in the past- playoffs/no, but better W/L, yes from new talent and effort....GO Browns!!!!

The question is, can the Browns make a commitment to securing a solid foundation, roster wise.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Hue needs a bare minimum of 4 years .. Maybe more after money ball leaves him with less talent than we've ever had .. Naaa .. That can't happen .. That bars so low even the baseball penny pincher has a shot to clear it ..

Possibly the worst roster in football for this year .. We're going to be young and non talented .. Other than that .. It's all good ..

Mr. Peen - we would have time doubling last years win total if it was over one .. So if it was one .. It's 50/50 if we could double it ..

What exactly was the perception of Gilbert when LeBron left?

Give Haslam time to grow into the job, and a competent GM and Coach to work with. I'm not saying he is or will definitely be a great owner, but what 1st time owner of a team with "expansion level" talent looks great right away?

Professional sports is as much art as science and it's not something that business entirely prepares anyone for. It's something that has to be grown into, but at least he appears to be putting in time and effort.

Bro, the same guys who are bashing the previous coaching staff are the same guys who gave me grief when I questioned them. At the end, I was one of the few who said to give Pet more time. Funny how that works.

I think people on this board overrate Hue. He was a HC for one season. They were 8 and 8. He went 1 and 4 down the stretch. He allowed a player to play after the guy shot a gun at another person. He ran his mouth a lot and actually led the team in a chant of "Hue, Hue, Hue!" He threw his team under the bus when they lost a late season game. He made a huge power play that backfired.

He did NOT turn Dalton around. Gruden did. Hue was their D-backs coach and special teams something or another.

Pep got Luck killed in Indy. He was dismissed from the OC position.

Horton ran his mouth when he was here. The defense quit on him late in the year. They were terrible on 3rd downs and late in games.

I ain't buying that we are so much better because of the coaching staff.

With that said, I hope Hue gets the four years you mentioned. We need continuity. He is a bright guy and I actually like him. I just get sick of people exaggerating things and making crap up.

My biggest concern is Haslam. I was perhaps his biggest fan when he bought the team. I despised Junior's weak-ass tenure. Haslam said all the right things. But man, he has not lived up to his word. The team continues to stink and perhaps even digress, yet the value of the team goes up. This is the same guy who owns a company that cheated their customers out of more money than we can even count.

Everything is honky-dorry right now w/some people, but what does Haslam do if the team wins 3-5 games next year and the year after that?

Do you trust him to give Hue time when the same fans who are supporting Hue NOW are calling for his head........just like they did w/Pet.....and every other coach who has been here since our rebirth?

I hope that we can win 6 games. If we do, Hue Jackson deserves coach of the year.

I think that we had a really strong draft this year. I think that we have some young talented players on this team, but they need time to develop. Just as importantly, we need to sort out the QB spot. RG3 will be the starter, unless he is an absolute disaster. He needs completely rebuilt.

I would love to see us win 6 games, but I just cannot see it this season. They are simply not ready to win. There are way too many holes, and way too much youth that needs time and experience to develop. Many players who start this year will be backups in the future ... but they will start this year, just so we can see about them. However, we will have two 1st round picks and 2 second round picks nest year .... and 2 second rounders in 2018. We will also have 4 compensatory picks in 2017. (maybe 3 of these will be 4th rounders, and one a 5th rounder) We have an opportunity to add talent to this team, but they will need time to learn how to play together, and the team will need to work out who can play, and who cannot. It's going to take time. I just hate to see people getting all hyped up about the team's chances this year .... when those chances are really pretty bad. I think that a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment .... but I guess that's their right.

Ytown, regarding your comments about us having a "strong" draft this year, what is your basis for that comment? Just curious ... not calling you out.

In terms of quantity of players, obviously the draft was excellent. But did we select the correct players? Based only on the draft as being a lottery we should hit on 3-4 of them, but who knows? It seemed like we reached on a few picks based on player rankings.

[quote]My biggest concern is Haslam.[/qoute]

He's the head of the snake bro .. And I chose that saying because he is a snake .. He is a piece of crap human being .. Only reason he's not in prison for RUNNING A 70'S, 80'S TYPE MOB GAS TAX SCAN is because in true mob fashioned he paid everyone and there mother and father and brother and sister off and he "shielded" himself from it ... Can't remember dude's name .. Micheal Francesce or something like that .. He "invented" the scam and he became a very very powerful man at a very young age cause this was one of their biggest money makers ever ... I read his book about 10 years ago or so ..

Anyhow I was excited when I heard he came from the Stilers .. Then we find out he's a MOBSTER in both personality and slimy business tactics and then the part that really matter to us .. HE LEARNED HOW NOT TO RUN A FRANCHISE ...

We have MONEYBALL here because he MISERABLY FAILED TWICE in putting together a good front office/coaching team .. And he thinks he's smarter than everyone so he took a concept that is clearly suited for one sport as opposed to another .. This will be his 3rd FAILURE .. This will be the ROUNDEST BALL and SQUAREST HOLE EVER!!!

He's also been in the press more in 4 or 5 years than the Rooney's have in twice as many decades as that ... I think we've all ready had as MANY or MORE coaches in his 5 years than the Stilers have in 70 years .. I think it's MORE .. This will be 4 ...

I would ask all the "doters" witch MEDDLING owner has been more successful ... Jerry Jones/ Dan Snyder the elder Al Davis ,,, there has NEVER been a MEDDLING owner that's WON A DAMM THING ... Yet ours is somehow suppose to lead us to the promised land when he has NO CLUE what his job really is ... And sorry bro .. JUNIOR got it right ..

HE HIRED HIS FOOTBALL PEOPLE AND LET THEM DO THEIR JOBS .. Look at all the successful franchises starting from back in the 70's ...

70's/80's niners - DeBartolo meddled in the FACT EVERYTHING WAS FIRST CLASS .. But he let McVie/Walsh go about there business ..

70's/80's Cowboys - this is the perfect EXAMPLE .. 70's and first run in 80's was Schramm who let the hat do his job .. The Jones bought the team .. Hired the hair and left him alone .. They won a few SB's .. Jones thinks he's "learned" enough and his EGO gets in the way and RUNS HIM OFF and lo and behold they have ONLY BEEN CLOSE ONCE SINCE .. That was when he hired the tuna .. Left him alone .. They got close again and he put his nose where it didn't belong again RAN HIM OFF .. BACK TO HORRIBLE DECISIONS AND NO SNIFFS ONCE AGAIN ..

Since then and excuse me if I missed one .. The Pats/Rats and Stilers who have been using there WINNING FORMULA since the 70's ...

The job description of the owner for as far as I can tell in ALL successful NFL teams have had OWNERS that stood out of football .. Wait .. Al Davis in the 70's and 80's .. The game then passed him by and he got senile .. Then there was the Browns in the 60's with .. Well we al know that one .. THE GOOD OLD DAYS .. And SADLY THE ONLY DAYS FOR US ..

U get my point .. This guy is in WAY OVER HIS HEAD and his learning curve s going the wrong way .. He literally took a few steps back in his "development" into a good owner with the MONEYBALL hire ..

This season is going to be UGLY AS ALL GET OUT and it is not MONEYBALL'S or Hue's fault .. It's Haslam's for PISSING THE LAST 4 YEARS AWAY WITH HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HIRINGS ...

My guess is we will be saying the same thing about the new FO and Coach in 4 years!!!

DD- when is your book, Haslam, the new Capone coming out, you'll make millions- we are in information age, all those Pilot employees did only the bosses requests- right, how quick does a rat caught turn on the bigger rat to say out of jail....Haslam again painted guilty without jury....nice. How many football fields have you donated to Cleveland kids, how much charity work have you done, check the mirror.....our owner has changed directions with top management like his underwear....he's brought in "football minds", leaders in their field and they haven't panned out...now- moneyball/football style has come to Cleveland and some want to go back to good ole days- beer drinking, do some situps, use gut feelings, call secretary to type, use chalk on blackboard for Xs and Os....good old days.....a real hitting PRACTICE hasn't happened yet and "expert" peanut gallery has figured it all out....retirement is grand....JMHO, let's see how the new ideas in weight room/conditioning pan out, let's see IF Hue can get O much better, let's see if Horton's attacking system works....AND let's see how 14 over achievers in college/ most,if not all seem to have desire to do well and be good citizens, let's see if Harvard guys who don't know football can get it done....like GE's old motto- Progress is our most important product...time will tell....and it all comes for the man who you call a snake....nice, Sunday, make sure you go to church. Peace.

This owner and team is a dumpster fire. That IMO is not even debatable.

The fool had it right with Chud and let him go, then followed that up with The Ray Farmer show. Farmer was good at talent and bad at character and it did him in.

But none of those things really matters the Harvard boys and Farmer both made the most critical mistake in building a football team you can make they failed on nearly every opportunity to stabilize and improve the team by not signing up young talent before they hit FA, so we end up with the dumpster fire all over again.

Building a football team is easy, believe it or not and it goes like this. Draft well and retain the best of the talent you have, add pieces and replace talent with better talent as it becomes available. Where these guys fail is they fail to realize once a player for the Browns reaches FA they are history.

What does that mean?

It means you step in and resign talent coming out of camp or at a minimum the mid point of the season. There simple is no incentive to resign with these losers once your season has ended and FA is your next step. Hell even if you want to get a guy signed after the season and before FA the Browns have no chance with Haslam and his hires calling the shots.

A child could do this. Simple draft good players, keep good players, add more good players become a good football team. Now that we have flipped the roster again, for no good reason other then some strange belief that you can build a winning team over night we are going to suck for the foreseeable future.

The staff is a good staff but you have to allow young talent time to gel to come together and we simply don't.

I have said enough its just a repeat of what I have said for years now and I long ago lost my enthusiasm for repeating myself, and mostly because I have lost hope for a team I have loved my entire life. Fire Haslam paaalease.

Dee has taken a much bigger role in the running of the Browns and I believe that to be a good thing. It has been a real mess in Berea with no one in charge while Jimmy was dealing with his own problems with the feds.

For the first time, I believe we actually have a plan going forward. First time it was Banner's show, 2nd time no one wanted the job due to Banner and lombardi Pet was what choice #30? lol This time it feels different. It may be more of the same but it does feel different.

I think that we picked players who have a chance to really help this team.

I really like 3 of the WR we picked, Coleman, Higgins, and Payton. I think that they might all be in the top 4 receivers on the field as soon as this year, and that all could be very useful in those roles. Youth will have mistakes, but I think that we added talent to a talent deprived position, and did so smartly, in a draft that lacked elite talent at the position outside of the 1st.

I really like the picks of Ogbah and Nassib. I think that they will be upgrades to the pass rush. Nassib had a sack in every game this year. That is incredibly difficult to manage. Ogbah has exceptional physical skills. I think that will help this team, especially with a developing Nate Orchard. It may not come 100% together this year, but I like what's building here.

Shon Coleman has the physical traits and the nasty attitude you want in a RT. I thin that he will need a year to develop, but he has the ability to be a solid starter.

I like Schobert's pass rush ability, and think that he can be an effective sub.

I really like Kindred, and his toughness. He's a guy I think could develop into a starter, or at least have a solid career as a sub/backup.

Louis, Devalve, Drango, and Caldwell, I have no read on, however, I have a buddy whose last name is Devalve, so I am rooting for him. lol I think that Wright could be one of the special teams monsters that every team needs.

I think that if you get 3 quality starters out of a draft, then you have done really good. I think that we have a chance to pass that number.

I also look at this team, and it was bereft of talent coming into the draft. These draft picks are going to get their shot with this team. Maybe a guy who might have been overlooked will wind up having a nice career because he got a chance. Guys like Gipson, Cribbs, and others got a chance here because of the level of talent on the team when they arrived. Maybe one or more of the lower draft picks this year gets a shot, and takes advantage of it. Who knows?

As far as reaches .... well, it's possible. Some guys, like Kessler, DeValve, Louis, and Caldwell all seem like reaches based on where they were picked. However, with as many picks as we had, they are not the guys who will break this draft. I actually like the explanation as to why they took Devalve, so maybe he isn't a reach. I dunno.

Overall, I really like this draft a lot, though. I think we got several starters in this draft, and a lot of depth as well. In the recent past we have really struggled when our depth was tested. I see nothing wrong with improving the depth as part of the draft strategy, especially when you have also added several players who should contribute as starters/subs.

great response ... thanks for outlining our class. Thanks

Admittedly I haven't seen most of our picks play, but I do have some reservations about the ones I have seen: Nassib, Schobert, Kessler, and Ogbah.

I watch nearly every Big 10 game that I can, and Nassib was invisible until last season. He had a great senior season, but wasn't a factor before that. Plus, he's on the thin side. I think he's going to struggle, at least right away.

Schobert will probably be a ST/Backup LB type player. He lacks athleticism and explosiveness to be a DE/OLB IMO. Now I did read that he was playing some ILB, which may be a better fit.

Kessler is a poor man's Colt McCoy. Very little arm strength. Very little upside IMO. I'd be shocked if he's legit/longtime backup in the NFL.

Ogbah is my least favorite selection of the entire draft. His analytics and athleticism are NFL worthy, but he was very inconsistent and lacked a motor in games I saw. He's a big risk to take in the (basically) 1st round.

Just clicking...Coaching is a big deal, I can't believe there are self acclaimed football gurus here that think not. I might not take hold in year one as we know too well a lot of new is tough to see instant success. But years 2 and 3 the effects of good coaching should be evident.

jmho...well actually close to fact as opinion gets.

Coaching is important. However, I think some people are overrating our coaches.

I think Hue is a good coach, but not as "great" as some are making him out to be. I also think that the previous coaching staff that some used to call great, aren't as bad as some are making them out to be. I always thought Pep was pretty bad. His schemes in Indy about got Luck killed. Horton was alright. His teams blew games late and they quit on him late in the season. They thought so "much" of him in Tennessee that they brought LeBeau in.

Today’s question: Who is the rising star in the AFC North?

Jeremy Fowler, Pittsburgh Steelers reporter: Cam Erving -- yes, that Cam Erving, the Browns linemen who got bulldozed for much of last year. But Erving has first-round pedigree and many respected evaluators loved his game coming out of Florida State. The Browns misused him last year as a guard. He’s a center. With Alex Mack gone, Erving can settle in. He was in bad shape coming into 2015 training camp, but he has improved in that area. Less body fat will equal more body blows for opposing defensive linemen. This is a risky pick, but what the heck, I’m stumping for Cam. It’s not like the AFC North is loaded with young stars. Look at the rosters. There’s talent but no budding Odell Beckhams out there. Veterans still rule in Pittsburgh. Steve Smith will be the Ravens’ primary option once again. The Bengals have young corners and offensive linemen who might need more time to develop.

Coley Harvey, Cincinnati Bengals reporter: Without a doubt, Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap is the AFC North’s biggest rising star. Of course to Bengals fans, there is no “rising” about Dunlap’s star at all. To them, he has long established himself as one of the best players at his position. Dunlap has been a valued member of Cincinnati’s defensive line since his third-round selection in 2010, and he even set an official franchise record in single-season sacks last fall with 13.5. He has started playing more consistently well the last two seasons and he has proven just how much he can benefit from having the likes of Michael Johnson and a healthy Geno Atkins rushing the passer alongside him. All four starters in the Bengals’ four-man line rotation had five or more sacks last season. Outside of Cincinnati, Dunlap’s star is rising because he’s beginning to have a tangible impact on NFL defensive marks. Earlier this offseason, NFL.com projected him to be one of a handful of players who could overtake Michael Strahan’s single-season record of 22.5 sacks.

Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap set a franchise record for sacks in a season with 13.5 last year. Scott R. Galvin/USA TODAY Sports
Jamison Hensley, Baltimore Ravens reporter: Steelers tight end Ladarius Green. It’s only his first season in the AFC North, but the 26-year-old is primed for a breakout season. Green is out of the shadow of the Chargers’ Antonio Gates, and he comes to an explosive Steelers offense where the focus of the secondary will be on the outside with Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. That should leave the middle of the field open for Green. He has more big-time pass catching upside than Heath Miller, who retired after 11 seasons in Pittsburgh. The question with Green is his health. He finished last season on injured reserve with an ankle injury and hasn’t participated in offseason practices with the Steelers. The expectation is for Green to be ready for training camp and then establish himself as a popular red zone target for Ben Roethlisberger.

Pat McManamon, Cleveland Browns reporter: The temptation is to go with Steelers DL Cameron Heyward or Bengals TE Tyler Eifert, but they've both arrived. The choice here is Browns running back Duke Johnson Jr. Johnson missed two games last season and still caught 61 passes on 74 targets. On a bad offense, Johnson finished in the top five in receptions and receiving yard for running backs. New coach Hue Jackson has said that the talent of Johnson and Isaiah Crowell is "extreme," and he sounds eager to create mismatches for Johnson. "He does so many different things that gives your offense a boost," Jackson said.

Browns slide to last in ESPN’s “Future Power Rankings”
By Joe Ginley  @JoeGinley on Jul 11, 2016, 8:52p

Well, there’s no where to go but up.

As the site does every year, ESPN.com ranked the NFL’s 32 teams according to their future prospects for the next three seasons.

According to ESPN’s prognosticators, the Browns’ future is grim, as the piece placed the club dead last in the article. (You can read the full story here, but only if you’re an ESPN Insider.)

Field Yates, Louis Riddick, and Mike Sando wrote the analysis of the Browns. The team ranked 29th in 2014 and 30th in 2015.

As the article explained:

After averaging the results from the panelists, each of the five categories was weighted to create the overall score -- roster (30 percent), quarterback (20 percent), draft (15 percent), front office (15 percent) and coaching (20 percent). The result is a comprehensive rankings based on how well each team is positioned for the future.

The trio bestowed the Browns with an awful score of 45.4 points, nearly nine points below the next highest team, the 49ers. Predictably, the Browns’ worst category was quarterback (40.0). The team’s best category was coaching, a solid 58.3.

Yates began the analysis with the “positive” spin:

The Browns' high category score ranks lower than any other team's, reflecting how far this organization has to climb in the future. But in Hue Jackson, the team has added a capable offensive mind who arrives after strong work with Andy Dalton as offensive coordinator in Cincinnati. Jackson's ability to identify the team's next starting quarterback could prove to be his most important chore, but the former college QB has shown he has the chops to select the right guy.

Next comes the negative dump on the Browns’ quarterback situation.

Riddick did the honors, as usual:

When the 2016 regular season begins, the Browns will likely introduce to the world their 25th different starting QB since 1999. And at the present juncture, there's little confidence that any of the three QBs on the roster -- Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown and Cody Kessler -- will emerge as a long-term franchise QB. While it is unfair to blame the current regime/coaching staff for past failures, until the combination of Jackson and EVP of Football Operations Sashi Brown puts someone on the field who doesn't bring back memories of Spergon Wynn or Johnny Manziel, the QB position will continue to be a serious detriment to organizational success.

Sando rounded out the analysis with an original remark about the Browns’ constant change in regime.

That is the critical question — will the Haslams stick with the current regime? If the owners show patience, maybe ESPN will rank the Browns higher next year.

But didn't you know that all of the experts hate us and the national media knows nothing about the Browns? Didn't you know that anyone who says one negative word about the Browns is a BOZO?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think how bad the Eagles are will surprise a lot of people. I'll be shocked if they aren't the first pick in the NFL draft.

This might be the year that angry Eagles fan on Youtube strokes out or has a heart attack.

His schemes in Indy about got Luck killed. Horton was alright. His teams blew games late and they quit on him late in the season. They thought so "much" of him in Tennessee that they brought LeBeau in.

I just looked over the Joe Thomas video (presser) again. Yeah he's a homer but you can weed out the BS. Some of his quotes and I'm going on memory:

JT was really envious of the Bengals and the O they were running.

JT had seen 7 offenses in his tenure and there is stuff in this offense he never saw before.

Its great to have an Offensive minded HC for a change...he stand in back of the huddle and makes sure everyone is in the right position for the OFFENSE he wants to run.

A big part of coaching is the respect...its easy to get the respect from teenagers but trust me its a tough feat to get MEN to give the respect that Hue is getting from everywhere.

Hal Hunter is an excellent coach...Al Saunder and the rest. And they all seem to FIT they aren't tugging at each other. It seems in sync.

Horton with some of the talent here had the #9 D in 2013 yeah its just a stat but one we rarely have here. He had Kruger give a great year, Gipson established himself, Joe Haden had his best season. Why poo poo the martial arts guy for the DL. If he know his stuff and can equate it to football, Leverage is totally relevant from under the arm pit. to the wrist, elbow shoulder. Sure they sensationalize it because it makes a good read - no it won't make a bad player good but it will make a good player better.

How is this excitement for the Coaching staff one where we should not over rate them...when and where. Who, the ex OC of the Colts...he's more of the QB coach and asst to Hue for the O...its his O his script.

This isn't stuff I'm getting from the HOMER MEDIA, I'm listening to all the players, coaches in their presser.

Hue more than definitely seems to be the real deal.

Where is he just average, where are you getting your sources from?

Hey every year I'm going to get hyped for my Browns regardless was the blue are sung around here.

I don't see the point to try and convince everyone we such and have absolutely no shot at this season for anything but an early draft pick. Sorry I will never get the purpose except to go and tell all...see my record I'm smarter than EO he always on a positive and we almost always have a losing season.

So What! My football which I tried to give here has merit it cannot be brushed under the rug cause its a positive and these are the Browns.

Your ego doesn't allow you to see the purpose. People listen to the fairy tales that some of you preach every off-season and then when things go south, they clamor for everyone to be fired. And our two owners do just that, which only puts us further behind.

Pep got Luck killed in Indy. He was dismissed from the OC position.

Horton ran his mouth when he was here. The defense quit on him late in the year. They were terrible on 3rd downs and late in games.

I ain't buying that we are so much better because of the coaching staff.

Funny thing with Pep... The first two seasons they improved with Pep... then the 3rd season they weren't doing what was expected... This might be a case of...throwing under the bus.

Horton.. I read some stuff and listened to pressers..and never really picked up on him running his mouth... just one example...I'm sure with efforet we can find many to prove one way or another..

quote from Ray......

In all seriousness, though, Horton wants his men to take care of their own business and not worry about the offensive issues, which include eight turnovers in the past two games.

"These guys are paid professionals and they all have their opinions, but I’m more of a man-in-the-mirror type guy, make sure my house is clean before I say something about somebody else,'' said Horton. "I know T.J. is having, in some people’s eyes, a good year, but until you can play that kind of perfect All-Star, All-Pro year, just take care of your own self because it is hard enough in this league for me, I know, to call a game, let alone say how good I am.... link

Not sure if the players quit on Ray...as much as they did Chud....

I feel the coaching staff is an improvement... until games are played... we won't know.

I think Hue is a good coach and understands how to manage the modern player. I think Al Saunders is a legendary coach. The rest is...kinda meh.

As for the futures post from ESPN, why should we be higher? Without a QB, pass rusher or elite running back, our future is not bright. Hopefully that will change next year. We should have 2 very good chances to get franchise cornerstones.

you had a good run Hank.

My ego...the purpose is not to bring reality...obviously its your ego. I see no ego on my part defending my teams HC when it is mentioned that he brings toughness to a team and your idea of reality is to state he doesn't all he brings is DIRTY Play...you over stepped that line. I see no reality. I do see a good staff. Prove me wrong...dont make up stuff.

In all honesty Eo, Neither of you guys can prove anything at this point.

You, me and everyone else can speculate all we want, but we can't prove anything. YET.

I see a staff that has established resumes years under
Their belts etc etc
At the end of the day talent and coaching will determine
If your a 4 12 team or 12 4
Great talent can make a average coach look better than
What he is.
Peyton Manning is proof of that
Cam Newton also.
Ray Horton doesn't impress me.
He's a average DC
Most places he coached he had some very good players
On that side of the ball.
His body of work in 2013 merits a closer look.
He faced some bad to average qbs that year.
His hybrid scheme he coaches is as only as good as the talent.
He's not missed in Tennessee or Arizona.let's see if Horton can coach some young guys in Berea
That will tell us how good he is
Right now he has no run stopper or elite pass Rusher
Al Saunders has been around
Much better position coach than OC.
He's a stickler for perfection in route running
This is a young football team with too many questions at QB and a very difficult schedule to boot
