gotta bounce back

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Tribe needs to get back to being hot again. I don't have a great feeling. Need to get a win today.

I really think that this team is missing Gomes. I know he was just about a given out at the plate, but the rotation has been getting pounded early and often since he has gone out. We need to fix this and fast...

good point. Catching is an overlooked part of effective pitching.

I thought you wanted MRI's to be negative?

Yep. In this case, negative is positive.

I suspect that they might skip a start with him as well ..... but maybe they won't need to.

yep, which makes the lucroy shun hurt all the more. Especially if its for the reason they stated that tribe wouldn't guarantee the starting job in 2017, which if true is pure ineptness by our FO, Lucroy is 10x the player of any of our current catchers on their best days...Perez tries but he's not MLB ready yet, like someone else said, i wonder if having him back behind the plate is causing our pitching staff to melt down. because they have been bad since ASB

You should've come around here when they were doing well. It sounds like you haven't followed the team, and only come by when they have a rough patch. This is baseball. You win 54 games, you lose 54 games, and what you do with the remaining 54 is what makes the difference.

We gauranteed Lucroy a starting position. It just wasn't always going to be at catcher. It was a combo of everyday playing at 1B/DH/C. Which is great foresight on our FO; no way Napoli comes back next year.

Please come down to earth. The sky isn't falling.

I've been here since beginning, and obviously you don't read to well...we wouldn't guarantee him as starting catcher, right from lucroy's mouth...so yeah. We don't need him at 1b, not to mention he is a much much better C than gomes even when Yan is healthy

It's damage control from Lucroy's agent. Multiple national sources, including Indians' beat writers, stated he would play everyday, but not just at catcher.

He wants to be the #1 paid catcher.

The plan was to play Lucroy at catcher through this season, then have him play catcher, first base, and DH in 2017.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2016/07/31/jonathan-lucroy-vetoes-trade-indians/87884212/

The Indians should have just lied to him if this was a real issue.

Also, you can't blame Lucroy for using his veto power to try and gain free agency one year early. He tried to use the little leverage he had to make more money. Nothing wrong with that.

and theres no reason why he shouldn't be...he would have been by far the best we got..you don't give up the farm for a guy you aren't going to have starting at his primary position. Indians flubbed this one, plain and simple. Now we are stuck with a huge hole behind the plate. I'm not sure if theres anything in our farm that could help right now at C, but Perez flat out sucks, I think i'd just put santana back there if he's willing

It is shocking how poorly the Indians have fared against the Twins so far this year.

Minnesota has 42 wins on the year, and 7, so far, have been against the Indians.

Ugh. I cannot wait till we are done with the Twins.

We wouldn't be able to afford what Lucroy commanded in salary. He'd dash for somewhere else. The Indians didn't want to give up the farm for a rental.

Quote:
I think i'd just put Santana back there if he's willing

It wouldn't solve the hole in the lineup problem. No one could fill in at DH with any production. Almonte barely hits (ineligble for the post-season, Chisenhall and Naquin not soo good against LHP, and no one to call up from the farm.) It could create a problem with Napoli's production going down; a secret behind his production is the lack of time spent in the field.

There's also the additional downside of Santana not calling a game in at least a season, absolutely awful at throwing out runners, and an obvious drop in batting average when playing the position.

When you have given up 8 runs before the 5th inning is over, 3 nights in a row, not much need for relief pitching...

It will get better...
