"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Boston is far to the left as KC settles into the slot. Fannin is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Sampson are split in the backfield as the ball is hiked ... Here we go."

Sometimes I'll watch older Browns games or clips on youtube for fun ... and to see some of the offensive weapons we used to have is sad lol

Griffin has always had the arm talent and athletic ability to be a great NFL QB. Hope he learned how to do it consistently now.

It's almost impossible for a team to lose 15 of 16 openers (or whatever it is) ... it's gotta be the worst stretch for openers in NFL history

if my count is correct, he's the 14th different starting QB on opening day since 99 14 in 18 seasons. That is utterly pathetic. Is that truly correct? It seems hard to believe. Do you mean it seems like it was more?

Glad it's official.... Hopefully he can play well... I still have very low expectations for this season, but could be an interesting year Low expectations + Cavs already winning could make for a very enjoyable year. Say we're 5-11, but competitive. RG3 flashes and Coleman wins OROY. Could make for a lot of excitement heading into year 2 of the Hue regime.

The writing was on the wall. glad they finally named a QB. I know some expect us not win at all or 2 games...my prediction is 6-10 or 7-9. Go Browns!!! I am dying for our first preseason game. Me too! Like I always say the first half of our preseasons games are often our best games of our whole season (sighs). I think our offense might surprise some this year, but there goes my before-the-season starts optimism again. -GO BROWNS!

The way you bring along and build up a young qb to succeed really defines how he does in his career, the two headed snake that is shanahan as well as the owner's greed to get immediate ROI almost ruined RG3, everything was handled wrong with him, its why many thought if anyone could salvage him it would be Hue, which pisses in the wind of everything people say about cleveland being a qb grinder, but Hue has shown to have the touch and his staff is pretty good as well, they didn't put alot of pressure on him, signed him to a show me contract, put him in touch with people that could help and stood back and waited to see if RG3 would put forth the effort. Don't think anyone ever doubted his physical ability, it was all mental. Glad to see he made the right choices and is now rewarded

It appears that 31 NFL GM's disagree with you.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I certainly hope he can prove them all wrong: 'Robert Griffin III ranks 32 out of 33 NFL starting quarterbacks in poll of coaches and personnel execs'http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...art_river_indexBy Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com on August 09, 2016 at 3:48 PM, updated August 09, 2016 at 3:49 PM BEREA, Ohio — Robert Griffin III may be No. 1 in Hue Jackson's eyes, but he's No. 32 in the opinion of many NFL coaches and personnel executives. A day after Jackson named Robert Griffin III the starting quarterback of the Browns, he was ranked 32nd out of 33 starting quarterbacks in the NFL by a poll of 42 NFL coaches and personnel executives. 33 are included because the 49ers have not yet decided between Colin Kaepernick (No. 29) and Blaine Gabbert (No. 30). The poll was conducted by ESPN's Mike Sando, who was at the Browns facility on Monday and Tuesday. Sando interviewed 10 general managers, five head coaches, seven offensive coordinators, five defensive coordinators, eight personnel evaluators and seven other position coaches/executives for his third annual NFL QB Tier Rankings. The rankings are part of the ESPN Insider subscription service and not available to everyone. The tiers are as follows: Tier 1: Can carry his team each week. Team wins because of him.
Tier 2: Can carry team sometimes but not as consistently.
Tier 3: Legit starter but needs heavy run game/defense to win.
Tier 4: Might not want this guy starting all 16 games.
Tier 5: Do not think this guy should be starting. Griffin, who will start for the Browns after being demoted to third-team quarterback in Washington last season, ranked as a Tier 4 passer and just one from the bottom. The only quarterback ranked lower was Case Keenum of the Rams. Griffin tumbled four spots from his 2015 ranking of No. 28. One offensive coach told Sando last summer said he thought Griffin was 'finished' because his big ego would prevent him from hitting the requisite rock bottom to build his career. The coach placed Griffin in the fifth tier again this summer. While some of the insiders believe Griffin's career can be salvaged, none sounded sure of it. "I think there is hope because there are some traits, but I don't think he is going to be the decision-maker Hue is used to or wants," one GM said. "Hue is demanding on the ball coming out on time to the right place accurately, and I just am not sure that is what he is going to find in him. (Griffin) has been the guy who views himself as the guy to make the play, rather than let the other guys make the play." One personnel man questioned whether or not Griffin has the playmakers here to revive his career, but he hasn't seen the likes of Corey Coleman, Terrelle Pryor, Gary Barnidge and Duke Johnson — not to mention Josh Gordon on the horizon. At least one quarterbacks coach has some faith in Jackson to get the most of Griffin. "I think it is going to be fun to watch Robert because Hue Jackson is very creative," he said. "I'll just be interested in what he asks him to do. Robert is smart enough to read defenses, but it is new to him. He never had to do it at Baylor. The kid was a true junior coming out. It is a big learning curve." Interestedly, Griffin ranked lower than Josh McCown, who's currently his backup. A look at some of the other quarterbacks in the AFC North: 3. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers, Tier 1 Roethlisberger received 33 top tier votes and moved up from No. 4 last year. He's one of only three tier ones, along with Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. "He is a stud," a quarterbacks coach said. "He does some s--- that is just off the map. There are some things that fall apart, and he gets off schedule and that guy just makes plays. He has a hose. He is huge. He is so hard to bring down. He is competitive. He is gritty. He is smart. We played him this past year and our defense struggled that day because of him. That guy can win for you every week." 12. Joe Flacco, Ravens, Tier 2 Flacco, coming off a torn ACL, has moved down two spots from last year. "He is unbelievably physically gifted," a coordinator familiar with Flacco said. "He makes some throws that are unbelievable. But I don't think he processes things enough mentally to become a 1. I don't think he can lead a team or carry a team. He can take what is there, and if you give him help, he can be pretty good." 15. Andy Dalton, Bengals, Tier 2 Dalton, who finished second in the NFL with a 106.3 rating last season, climbed three spots to No. 15 despite losing Jackson as his coordinator and two of his best receivers in Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu. "You can argue the fact that he had a plethora of talent around him and he did," one pro personnel director said. "But you see the way the team played with him at the helm, and then you see how it fell off dramatically when they put another guy in there to manage it. He has grown, he knows his limitations and he plays within those and doesn't hurt your team. That is the maturation of a quarterback who knows what he needs to do to make his team successful."

in my opinion RG3 is either going to flame out big time or become successful again ... nothing in between

I was looking at the always interesting Football Outsiders adjusted interceptions statistic and saw that McCown had the lowest adjusted interception rate in the league last year. That's crazy. (Other notes: Bortles had nine (!) dropped interceptions on top of his league leading eighteen actual interceptions. Peyton Manning had an adjusted interception rate of 6.4%.) http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2016/adjusted-interceptions-2015

Which reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend earlier today. I've heard/read some who've claimed Bortles to be "on his way" to being a franchise QB. From games I've seen, he's still a below average QB. Granted, he is young and has pretty good weapons, but I don't see him like some others do.
I wouldn't be shocked if he regressed or stayed the same forever

Robert Griffin III may be No. 1 in Hue Jackson's eyes, but he's No. 32 in the opinion of many NFL coaches and personnel executives. That's such a lie!!!! The Shannahans, Gruden, and Snyder all collaborated to ensure RGIII's failure. He is a victim!!!

Most of the other teams did not have the time or already had a reclamation project already.
I dont think thats an indictment on his talent or his possible qb play in the future.
Until he proves otherwise, though, he is still a bottom dweller QB. But he has a lot more hope than a ton of guys on that list.
you had a good run Hank.

RG3 was a great get for us now that I think the long term plan has materialized ..
Hue wants the dude from Clemson ... And he knows even if RG3 studs out no way we win more than 4 or 5 games this year and with all the picks we have stockpiled for next year we have the ammo to move up to get his boy ...
If RG3 studs out or just plays decent he starts for a year while the rook holds the clipboard and learns ...
If RG3 stinks we get Hue's boy and we didn't have to use much if any ammo to move up to #1 ...
I don't like our new FO at all and think they had a HORRIFICK free agency period and I like the character and brains of the guys we drafted .. Just not sure of the talent and the bombardment of picks at certain positions ..
But I think if this is the plan they drew up in Feb before FA and the draft for a long term solution .. This was a pretty darn good one and possibly the only thing I think these goofs in the FO did right ..

Even if what you say is true, which it probably isn't, the only guarantee in getting the QB you want is having the worst record. Twice now we have wanted a QB, but didn't have the #1 pick so we couldn't get him even though we had picks to trade (Luck/Griffin and Goff).
Most bad teams need a QB. They are not trading the pick if a QB they want is available.
We just might be that bad team this year.

I'm not saying I agree with all of it, but I do see some basis for most of it. vers only think his opinion matters...i have him on ignore and life is better for it, you would think i said RG3 is peyton, i didn't say that, i said washington was a bad experience for him, if he's going to be successful he has to listen to the right people and do the things on his own, which he has done so far. all thats left is to see how it translates on the field....yeah cause NFL gm's have never been wrong right? people hate on RG3 blindly instead of just getting behind him..he didn't cost us anything and its all reward at this point if he does well.
