Man, it went from decent looking to having seriously high winds and rain pouring down in a matter of minutes.

From my summer book The Rules and Lore of Baseball:

If a game has completed the bottom half of the 5th inning and either team is ahead, and it is the final game of the series, the game can be deemed an official game. The leading team is declared the winner, and the game officially counts in standings.

So is the game final, or just delayed?

It's an official game, so if they cannot get, or reasonably expect to get the rest of the game played, then the Indians would win.

I suspect that since it's not yet 3:00, they will probably wait and see if they get a window in which to finish it. However, since the Astros have a home game tomorrow, and the Tribe has a game in Minnesota, I don't think that they will wait all day.

I remember a game years ago where it was snowing during the 5th (?) Inning and the opposing manager was trying to get the game called before they had "played enough" for it to count..

Stupid rule IMO.

Back to playing...and the Stros haven't given up. 10-6 with a runner on 3rd, top 7.

Might be a good time for a new thread - call it "Indians - rounding 3rd and headed for home". Magic number is 18.

nice win

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

One more thing: Tom Hamilton said its the first time the Indians have had 5 starters with 11 or more wins since 1954. That team had Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Mike Garcia, Early Wynn, and Art Houttemann; they won 111 games in a 154 game season, and then got swept in the World Series by the Giants.

Using the 1954 season as a comparison would be a bad omen. Huge flame out.

I hate Joe Mauer... He is another thorn in the side of my favorite team. It doesn't matter how good/bad they are, he always costs us....

Jordan Bastian @MLBastian

Francisco Lindor now has 53 multi-hit games. Only Jose Altuve (55) and Mookie Betts (58) had more, entering Friday
