I missed the 4th quarter, but it seemed to have quite a bit of drama

Agree. Sieman was a total surprise. The kid played very well all things considered. I was really impressed with his overall composure.
He made good throws under pressure. No matter what happens in Denver with their quarterback roster Sieman has made a mark.

1 flag was thrown for these. There's a double standard when it comes to athletes. Bigger dudes are allowed to be murdered. Without a doubt. Awful officiating.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Yep, then I see that we have Kessler and get depressed.

I don't like Cam, but man, the guy took a lot of head shots last night that were not called.
That's BS! Guys like him and Big Ben get abused while defenders draw a flag if they breathe on guys like Brady.
Also, does anyone else think they should have went through the concussion protocol while Cam was having a hard time getting up after being struck by a helmet to the jaw?

Yes he should have gone through the protocol and the league should review some of those hits.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'm confused about the off-setting penalties at the end of the game? Carolina is flagged for intentional grounding. (part of the actual play) Denver is flagged for a late hit. By rule a late hit is after the play has ended. A penalty assessed when a player makes significant contact with an opposing player after the play has ended. While there is a small margin for error, the players are expected to do everything possible to avoid contact after the play. Late hits fall under the category of unnecessary roughness penalties, and are assessed fifteen yards from the end of the play. Now if it's after the play has ended they can't offset. If the penalties both occurred during the run of the play, then yes, the penalties offset and the down is replayed from the previous spot, per the NFL rulebook (and the rulebooks of NCAA and Pop Warner, for that matter).
However, if the penalty on one of the teams is deemed to be a Dead Ball Foul committed *after* the previous play was whistled dead, then it will be enforced after the result of the play (as affected by the other penalty). So why did they offset and not give Carolina an automatic first down? Link to late hit Link to offset

Was it a late hit they called? or roughing the passer due to the High hit to the QB?
I don't clearly remember the call. I don't think the ball had hit the ground or whistle had blown when he was hit.

Roughing the passer From nfl.com: (:42) (Shotgun) 1-C.Newton pass incomplete short left [26-D.Stewart]. Penalty on DEN-26-D.Stewart, Roughing the Passer, offsetting, enforced at CAR 47 - No Play. Penalty on CAR-1-C.Newton, Intentional Grounding, offsetting.

Newton’s pass is incomplete, but the Broncos are called for a late hit on Newton, who’s briefly down in pain. But it’s offset by an intentional grounding play on Newton. Huge break for Denver there. Link

Bad link.
I went undeleted the game and watched the ref again and he did say it was roughing, not a late hit.

This Raiders v Saints game tho. Carr throws TD pass with 45 seconds left to put them down one, then go for two and get it.

Atl was one of my five Vegas line picks in a little fun competition I'm having with a work friend. I thought that was an easy one at -2.5. So much for that haha

Dak Prescott looks decent. Not bad for the 135th player taken in the draft (of course, behind Kessler).

Dak is a little better than Cody
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

No Bigfoot (Mingo) sightings as of yet with the Pats. I just Googled it and his number is 51, but I don't know if he's even playing or not. P.S. The Cowboys? Terrance Williams? What were you thinking? Run outta bounds!

P.S. The Cowboys? Terrance Williams? What were you thinking? Run outta bounds! I was working out at the time, but I thought ARC was protecting the sideline and it caused Williams to look up field for yardage. I'm not saying it excuses him from not trying to get out, but I questioned if he could make it by the replays I saw. Doesn't really matter, that was only midfield anyway. They weren't going to get two more plays off without a timeout. It's funny, Dez once again caught a TD but lost control as he hit the ground. Can't get figure out how to catch a ball all the way through the process?

It was 9/11. Of course the NFL had the Patriots win.
A lot of teams historically look bad in week one. For about a third of our players this was their first time in an actual NFL game. I hope for a lot of improvement in week 2, but I'm not sure it will be enough.
Did they have to make the Rams-49ers game start so late?

Because it's a west coast game. It starts 7:30 their time.

I know why they did it, just not a fan. I'm bad enough about getting close to 8 hours of sleep a night without football until 2 in the morning.

Some very good games yesterday.
--Del Rio going for 2 was gutsy. The Raiders also made a strong comeback.
--KC's comeback was unreal. I loved it, but felt sorry for Rivers and SD.
--The Indy/Det game was crazy, especially the ending.
--The Bengals/Jets game was a damn good game. Two tough teams.
--Prescott looked good and Dallas looks better than last year. The Giants have that big-play capability.
--Seattle's OL is going to get poor Russel Wilson killed. But he and Baldwin can ball.
--Drew Brees deserves his contract, but man, the Saints are beyond awful on D.
--Did we have the largest point differential in the entire league?

Well, the Steeler game starts at 7:10 or so. I'm sure they did not want both games being played at once.

yes vers, we're the only team to lose by double digits ... we lost by 19 points, most by a WIDE margin
Yes, we are that much worse than the rest IMO

Interesting breakdown of the rookie quarterbacks:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/17528...nfl-week-1-2016Just a side note I watched Jared Goff on Hard Knocks. It reminded me of when Mark Sanchez was on Hard Knocks. Goff actually didn't know that the sun rises in the East. Sanchez had to be coached on being a leader.
Wentz will not have those problems.
