So, I started this thread as an admission and realization that yes, I (I can't speak for all Dems or liberals) am now listening. I have listened and there are some good words in here. Some I agree with others I don't.

I also see that there are some (not all) Republicans/Conservatives that are now acting exactly as arrogantly and smugly as they accused us liberals as being. Instead of gloating or name calling it seems for us to move forward is to accept that there are some of us who do realize, understand and see how you felt and perceived us as being. There are also some of us who are just as disgusted at the rioters as you are and there are some of us who have taken this as a wake up call and started the soul searching and are now sitting at the table ready to discuss. Take that as a good thing as it means you have made your point and it has gotten through.

However, it only hurts your cause when you use it against us and begin to act the very way you accused of us acting. That, is the endless circle that will solve nothing.

Just my 2 cents.

First of all, I thought I would have to wait for it to get really cold for a snowflake. Triggered much lately? I wasn't even talking to you or specifically about anyone. You see, you can find the leftist progressives in every generation. Now to some specifics:

"Since when has it ever NOT been considered a good thing to chant USA and show patriotism by the majority in this country?"

There have been a lot of news reports on just that thing the past couple years. Kids are being called racist for chanting USA. Kids are being sent home from school for wearing military or American flag clothing. Please keep up with the news.

"40's and 60's? As if you guys some exclusive claim to patriotism?"

Absolutely not, nor did I claim that.

"If I had a dollar for every time you 40+ guys tried to take a shot at the younger people, I'd have enough money to buy a house in the economy that YOU screwed up."

Care to tell me where I took a shot at younger people? I explained what people my age are thinking. Also, when you actually think about it, a generation older than mine is who screwed up the housing economy. That started with Carter.

"Sick of this crap. Patriotism? You know how many people in my generation died in Iraq and Afghanistan? Some of my homeboys. You know how many people in my generation, civilians and military, rep this country HARD?
Man we rep the US hard as hell.
Tired of you and these other posters with your fake ass patriotism comments and young people shots."

Somewhere around 9000, correct? I also find it interesting that you question my patriotism while accusing me of doing the same. I think the word you might need here is 'hypocrite'.

"Don't sit there crying about the state of this country when it was people in YOUR age bracket who screwed up the housing market, screwed up the economy. Y'all responsible for damn near all of the debt, yet got the nerve to talk about patriotism?"

Once again, it was Carter who started it, and Clinton that compounded the problem. You should really read more. Liberal progressives are the people who determined that everyone has a right to a house, and the banks should be forced to give them loans when they didn't have the means.

"You should be charged with treason for what people in YOUR generation and older did to our economy, yet got the nerve to cry about what my generation is doing."

You should go look up the definition of treason.

"You claim to be a patriot but are part of the group that has called our US president a non-American and claimed he was a Muslim."

Now you're going to call me a liberal? Hillary Clinton and her people started birtherism. I have said on this board many times that if there was any truth to that, the Clintons would have found it and exposed it during the 2008 election.

Seeing as the rest of your post is attempting to define patriotism, which you accuse me of, I will leave it to others to determine who looks foolish.

Here's an example of not being able to chant USA ....

O-K Conference bans ‘USA’ chant due to rude usage

Lynsey Mukomel and 24 Hour News 8 web staff
Published: September 15, 2016, 3:53 pm Updated: September 16, 2016, 5:17 pm

Superintendent apologizes for display at football game

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The O-K Conference this week told schools that “USA” should not be chanted during high school sports games when the phrase has been co-opted to taunt an opposing team.

Officials with the conference said in a note that fans may chant “USA” only after the National Anthem is played. Outside of that, it is prohibited.

O-K Conference Commissioner Jim Haskins told 24 Hour News 8 that some students attending athletic events were chanting “USA” as a way of telling opponents, “U suck a**.” Haskins said the chant filtered down from colleges and started happening at high school basketball games last year.

“The USA chant came into discussion with both the AD Pres. and The Executive Board this week. It was approved by both groups that the chant should ONLY be used after the playing of the National anthem to salute our country. Any other time during the contest this chant, with different meanings for the USA letters, are demeaning and prohibited,” the note reads in part.

>>PDF: O-K Conference Handbook

“It’s not unpatriotic. It’s just trying to keep everything square away with everyone,” Haskins said of the rule. “We want to keep everything straight up. We don’t want to be demeaning or everything that is a putdown on our athletes, schools or teams.”

He said there’s already a similar ban in place in Wisconsin.

The Michigan High School Athletics Association told 24 Hour News 8 that as part of membership, leagues and conferences must maintain proper sportsmanship. That’s handled at the local level, so the O-K has the right to make its own decisions about sportsmanship enforcement at games, MHSAA said.

MHSAA said that before being contacted by 24 Hour News 8 Thursday, it had not heard complaints about repurposing “USA” to mean anything derogatory.

Additionally, in light of a display involving Donald Trump and Betsy Ross flags at last week’s football matchup between Forest Hills Central and Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills, the note also reminded schools of the O-K rule that says “signs, flags, banners, chants, cheers or promotional material that carry questionable implications or are degrading are prohibited.”

The letter said that if schools couldn’t agree over questionable material, it should be removed pending a meeting with other division members and the commissioner’s office. The letter urged schools to “make sure” the rules were enforced.

Rockford High School is one of the schools impacted by the conference’s new ban.

“We will inform our students that this type of behavior, when it’s done in a derogatory, insulting way, will not be accepted and will not occur,” Superintendent Mike Shibler told 24 Hour News 8. “They will be asked to leave and there may be further disciplinary action on Monday morning.”

Shibler made it clear, however, that he encourages students to demonstrate their patriotism as long as it’s done in a way that’s neither derogatory nor insulting. In fact, Shibler encourages students to sing the National Anthem and display the American flag.

The largest high school sports conference in West Michigan, the O-K includes 50 schools in Allegan, Barry, Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Ionia counties.

You're so adorable in thinking they'll call each other out.

Good Golly. Get a grip man. How many racistis showed to to vote for President Obama but didn't for Hillary?

My only point here is it is easy to point fingers. The libs true colors are flying high right now. It looks like Trunp won the popular as well, but keep on protesting.

You lost. It's over, get a grip and try to be a part of the solution.

How adorable..... You actually think shutting down Congress and the obstruction of Government for 8 years is part of a solution.

A lot of the same points are made about how a lot of middle America is ignored by the press and politicians. And if they think Americas has different problems that what the press thinks, then they are just labeled "racist, ignorant bigots".

I've done more listening during this election cycle than I think I've ever done in my life, primarily because I wasn't solidly behind a candidate. I listened less to the candidates and more to those who support the candidates... and this is what I think I've learned...

I get that gays, Muslims, Latinos, blacks, are nervous. I get it. Trump said some really over-the-top stuff during the election and, as a Republican, I will fight him every step of the way if he tries to follow through on some of it. I get that they feel marginalized and under-represented in this country as a whole.. I get it. (At least I get it to the extent that I can not being from that group)

What I don't think the left understands is that there is a massive chunk of working class and middle class white people who feel the same way. Now it's easy to scoff at that and claim that this group has had their way since basically the beginning of our country and there is some validity to that. But I assure you, there are MILLIONS of these people who don't feel represented and for many of them, the vote for Trump was more of a "up yours" to the politicians and the media as it was in support of Trump. This group has been labeled and/or ignored for a long time. As you said, if you say we should reform welfare, you are a racist. If you say a bakery should be able to deny making a cake for a gay couple on religious grounds, you are a homophobe. If you say we should control our border, you are a xenophobe. These labels just roll right off the tongues of many at the first sign of disagreement and serve one purpose and one purpose only: To shut down honest discussion and debate. If somebody says something you don't like about policies affecting minorities, call that person a racist... discussion over.

And that is what the current climate of media and social media has done.. for all of the communications we SHOULD be having right now because of it, we are actually having far less meaningful conversations... because people don't want to be labeled.

I have seen more hatred in the name of love recently than I ever imagined. Both sides have done it, both sides have blamed the other side for it, both sides have taken the "they did it first so mine is justified" approach.

So I appreciate a thread that starts with "I'm listening"... because that's what has been missing for .. well forever.

Is Planned Parenthood affiliate fueling anti-Trump protests?

The Craigslist ads read: “STOP TRUMP – up to $1500/week. Hiring immediately! Call Today Start tomorrow! $15-$18 hourly rate + bonus + overtime up to 77 hours per week!”

They were placed by a Planned Parenthood affiliate in major cities like Boston, Denver, Columbus, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh right before the election to defeat the candidacy of Donald Trump. However, most of them are still active on Craigslist, fueling questions about whether the group is now among those feeding the post-election anti-Trump protests across the country.

Many of the ads have Planned Parenthood Action, a PAC, emblazoned across the top and all of them list phone numbers belonging to the Community Outreach Group, a for-profit organization formed by Planned Parenthood as “a vendor of large-scale advocacy.” Protesting is among the tasks listed on its website.

MoveOn.org and others already have been linked to the demonstrations. Protesters have been out on the streets since Wednesday and have been mostly peaceful. However, in some instances – like in the city of Portland – police used flash bombs last week to quell an angry mob that lit fires and smashed cars and store windows with bats. One protester was shot by a civilian.

Planned Parenthood and Community Outreach Group have not returned phone calls seeking comment. Planned Parenthood, which received $553.7 million in tax dollars last year, had pledged to spend $30 million to defeat Trump, according to Rolling Stone. The money allegedly came from its super PAC, which “jointly” worked on the ground war, the magazine said.

Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., told FoxNews.com that he wasn’t surprised to hear a possible protest connection to the non-profit women’s health organization.

“I wouldn’t be shocked that this group is going the extra mile to undermine the legitimate transfer of power,” he said. “It comes into question whether they are using taxpayer money appropriately or even legally. This goes above and beyond their duty and ability to provide services for women.”

Other liberal groups have also apparently used the online classified ad site as a means to fuel protests.

MoveOn.org identified themselves in a New York ad, offering $18 an hour and specifying: “We only want protesters under the age of 30 … We prefer minorities.”

One job popped up over the weekend with an ad on both Craigslist and Reddit offering to pay $35 to protest at Trump’s Los Angeles golf course for 10 hours. Protesters were urged to “dress to impress” and bring signs.

$3.50/hour? Is that their new minimum wage demand?

This is another reason why PP should not get tax dollars.

That's all very convenient. You're telling me the numbers that were listed on craigslist were already online and people could find it before then? Hmmmmm

Not arguing. I didn't catch what I think is a typo on their part. It was supposed to be $35 per hour for 10 hours.

I found the ad...
