Those game cut-ups used to be everywhere during the first couple/few weeks of the season.
I stumbled on to this guy: SanFranFanAD while looking for a vid of an Ogbah sack. Dude has cut-ups of most of Kessler's games.
I thought those cut-ups fit this conversation well because by watching you get a quick snapshot of the depths of the routes in the passing game.
Of course without all-22 you can't know exactly what types of routes are being run. But, you can at least see how many of the eligible receivers are running routes deeper then 10 yards.
It is clear (to me at least) that Hue is not running the same offense as the Bengals/Dalton. I've heard the guys on Cleveland Browns daily and a couple other places refer to Dalton's ultra quick snap to release times ~2.4 seconds vs the Browns QB ~2.8s+. And while part of that difference is on the QBs there is also a question of passing game concepts and route depth.
Hue inherited Dalton and Jay's quick passing WCO variant in Cinci. His offense here, especially since comments Hue made about wanting to push the ball downfield, has been decidedly focused on throwing the ball vertically and intermediate. (Although just a random a sampling the screen caps of the routes in this thread gives an idea into the route depth/passing game concepts). Those focus on vertical routes/passing concepts imho is clearly having an impact on the pass protection/sacks and
some not all but some of the QB 'holding the ball' perception.
During the bye week's self-scouting I hope that Hue/Pep take a look at the passing game and find a better balance between throwing downfield and sustaining offense via the short passing game (already talked about in this thread).
With yet another injury to the OL and a another 'new' QB imho they need to take a critical look at the depth of the passing game concepts. Maybe its time to mix in more short game concepts and except the bitter pill that although Hue envisions a passing focused on deeper routes and getting the ball downfield that it might want to take the foot off the pedal a little and make life easier on the OL to pass protect.
my 2 cents....lol,

flame suit on.
