I don't believe that the Russians hacking the DNC is an excuse concerning the election. However, a foreign government attempting to disrupt and interfere with our election process is a major concern.

I believe that people on both sides of the political aisle showing so much concern over the issue points this out. Sure there are a minority that use this as an excuse why Clinton lost, but I believe that by and large the biggest concern is foreign governments trying to interfere with our political process is the overwhelming concern.

Top notch security requires big government.

Don't confuse "big government" with overreaching government. Providing for our security, from enemies foreign and domestic, is probably the single most important thing our government is supposed to do. So if we need to be well staffed to do that, fine.

But do we need 10,000 employees in the department of housing and urban development? 5,000 in the department of education? 80,000 in the IRS? 60,000 in the department of transportation? 70,000 in health and human services? 45,000 in department of commerce? Good Lord with all of those people, why do all government services suck so bad?

Maybe? I don't know. We are a pretty big country in area and population, and I would think they are spread all over it. In the case of HUD, just 100 per state is 5,000 employees. Large states like California and Texas probably have a lot. Now these are not real numbers, but I can see a lot of agencies needing a lot of manpower to cover the country. A lot of people complain about the size of the government, but probably the only way to make it really smaller would be to have a smaller country.

Well you almost hit the nail. It's Trumps Russian backers you need to focus on.

Russia is dealing with serious sanctions. Their economy is on the brink if they don't get these sanctions lifted. This is Putins direct meddling to help insure sanctions are lifted off Russia soon.

It's starting to look like trump and Putin are bff's. I'm all for party rotation, I believe Lincoln said that is what makes America great. This one appears a little spooky though.

I don't know if the hacking had any real effect on the election, Not even sure anyone would tell us if it turned out to be the case.

But for me it's suspect when you hear the way Trump speaks of Putin.

At some point, I hope the truth comes out, whatever it is. In the meantime, time to tighten up cyber security.

The United States of America should NEVER stand for hacking of our election system.

And Diam, you can make all the fun you want about it, but the fact remains, 17 intelligence agencies have said there WAS hacking.. Not a thing funny about it, not one damn thing.

They didn't hack "the election system". They hacked the DNC and then it's even questionable if they did anything with it, because Wikileaks was saying that Russia wasn't even their source.

So let me get this all straight ... Russia hacked some email servers and Wikileaks released information showing that the DNC actually rigged the primary election and was in bed with a lot of people in the media, who wanted to sway the public opinion in favor of Hillary?

But this is all Russia's fault because they "potentially" tried to rig the election by reporting all of this information, to try and sway the public opinion because they wanted us to vote for a Capitalist Businessman instead of a borderline Socialist?

And now the party that let their servers get hacked by a foreign power is saying we should throw out the election results, make their candidate President and be in charge of national security?

Yeah wikileaks! rofl the source... a fugitive that ran away from Sweden and is now hiding out to avoid a rape charge. Yeah we believe his crap but ignore science. Whatever.

Nice one. Maybe somebody should have actually said, "No, we didn't send those e-mails discussing our cooperation with the media, getting the debate questions in advance, and railroading ol' Bernie out of the primary".. but they never did.

We aren't talking about science, just unethical politics that was exposed. When you have no answer, blame the source.

Tbh I think it's outrageous that Anonymous didn't try something like this. I do know that the RNC was targeted though.

No, this is what winning an election looks like.. and what whining about losing an election looks like.

You may be too young to remember Bush v Gore but many remember it.. I also remember the gloating after Obama won the first time. So you can act like this is something new, but it's not.

Unlike many of you here I don't believe in what the known hack and rapist for wiki leaks says or does. Just a puppet for Putin, much like Trump.

This is what I was hoping you would answer.. maybe he is a hack, maybe he's a rapist, maybe he's a puppet for Putin... all of that would make him a horrible human being but none of that changes the fact that he leaked e-mails from the DNC in their own words and none of them have really refuted saying most of what he leaked. So rather than answer for the content of the e-mails, you attack the character of the source.

I wonder if Russia will expand their list of bases abroad. right now they are all in crap countries.

I'm sure the conservatives wouldn't mind if Putin got one right here in the US. they are cool with all his other actions.

I thought you believed in science? Computer hacking is a science, is it not? Did the hacked e-mails contain info on the democratic primary? Did they contain info on the questions hillary would be asked?

Science is science. You can't pick an choose.

Perhaps your disgruntlement would be better put to use on the scheming that was involved, as opposed to who released it. Think?

All these hacking references, it sounds so sinister. Instead it's just a phishing email that Podesta and the DNC responded to from their gmail accounts.

CBS NEWS October 28, 2016, 11:43 AM

The phishing email that hacked the account of John Podesta

March 2016

This appears to be the phishing email that hacked Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s Gmail account. Further, The Clinton campaign’s own computer help desk thought it was real email sent by Google, even though the email address had a suspicious “googlemail.com” extension.

The John Podesta emails released by WikiLeaks

Phishing email sent to John Podesta RELEASED BY WIKILEAKS

The email, with the subject line “*Someone has your password,*” greeted Podesta, “Hi John” and then said, “Someone just used your password to try to sign into your Google Account john.podesta@gmail.com.” Then it offered a time stamp and an IP address in “Location: Ukraine.”

“Google stopped this sign-in attempt. You should change your password immediately.” And it then offered a link to change his password.

“This is a legitimate email,” Charles Delevan at the HFA help desk wrote to Podesta’s chief of staff, Sara Latham. “John needs to change his password immediately, and ensure that two-factor authentication is turned on his account.”

Email from Clinton campaign’s help desk advising Podesta to change his email RELEASED BY WIKILEAKS, OCTOBER 2016

Delevan included the Gmail link that would be used to change a user’s password, but whoever changed Podesta’s password instead clicked on the shortened URL that was in the original phishing email. This is the same technique used to hack Colin Powell’s emails and the Democratic National Committee emails, according to the website Motherboard.

All of these hacks were executed using these shortened URLs in fake emails, according to Motherboard, and those URLs “were created with a Bitly account linked to a domain under the control of Fancy Bear,” a group of Russian hackers.

In October, WikiLeaks began releasing thousands of Podesta’s emails daily before the November presidential election.

If this is as sophticated as the Russians are, our problem isn't the Russian's. It's the morons responding to them.

He's never been convicted of rape, just accused, and many think the charge is B.S. But regardless, Wikileaks information has been 100% accurate so far, so I'm thinking it should be believed. It's information that was never meant to be public made public.

I have never seen, in my lifetime or in modern political history, any presidential candidate trying to discredit the elections and the election process before votes have even taken place," Obama answered. "It's unprecedented. It happens to be based on no facts."

After reminding reporters that elections are run by state and local officials which is why there cannot be any grand conspiracy to defeat Trump by "rigging," Obama smacked Trump's unfitness for office.

Trump's claims don't "really show the kind of leadership and toughness that you'd want out of a president," he said.

"You start whining before the game's even over? If whenever things are going badly for you and you lose, you start blaming somebody else, then you don't have what it takes to be in this job. Because there are a lot of times when things don't go our way, or my way."

With more than a small amount of irritation in his voice, he concluded, "I'd advise Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes."

So we do have any documented proof of this?? Because all I've seen is "sources" from the FBI and CIA say that Putin was behind it, but nobody wants to put a name to it or put any sort of actual document showing that the Russian Government had a hand in it. Besides, this isn't some sort of elaborate attack. It was a phishing scam, which for all we know could be Americans sending emails from Russian email servers to cover their own tracks. We also have nothing that links Trump to the Russian government, other than a couple of Russian Businessmen happen to have ties to Trump, who's just happens to be an international businessman.

Of course, this is all being reported by the same media who's been in bed with Clinton the entire election ... and that's actually backed with documented proof that the Democrats aren't even trying to refute.

But who cares, Julian Assange has a rape allegation against him! I love when Hillary supporters try to play the moral card when she's married to Bill Clinton. That and she's actually been shown to have been behind a rigged election. tongue

Our intelligence agency says they did it.

I swear to god, I wish y'all would defend your fellow Americans with currption in the criminal system or police brutality as much as y'all do Putin and the Russians.

But it's not surprising you defend Russia like this. Y'all think he's a leader.

Obama is right. Reagan would roll in his grave. We got commie loves who just voted in a puppet to the Kremlin.

Intelligence said there was WMD in Iraq.

Liberals didn't care about the hacking until after the election. Sour grapes.

Take the advice of your hero Obama and stop whining.

Blame the russians. Heck, even Aaron Hernandez's attorneys are trying to blame the russians for hacking the prison phone calls. http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/20/us/aaron-hernandez-witness-testimony/index.html

Quote:
Also of note in Tuesday's hearing was discussion of Hernandez's jailhouse phone calls that were allegedly monitored while he was awaiting trial in Lloyd's death. His attorneys seemed to suggest that the breach of his calls could have been by Russian hackers, but later acknowledged it's not clear who breached the system.

this is like the 3rd or 4th time you said liberals didn't care about the hacking until after the election.

this is the 3rd or 4th time you're completely wrong.

at this point, you're telling a bold face lie and hoping it sticks.

oh....no wonder Trump got elected. makes sense now.
