McDowell is a better version of Buckner imo. He has the 2nd highest ceiling in the draft...................The biggest difference between the two for me is Malik's motor.
I like McDowel too. If I had to rank the interior DL prospects he would be up there with Solomon. I like his burst off the ball, especially when lined up inside he was usually the first man off the line. I also like his ability to play stout despite his relative lack of size but playing stout at the POA in college vs single blocks is different then playing stout at 5-tech taking a double team.
In a comp to Bucker I would have Bucker as the cleaner prospect for 3 reasons: size, injury and production. When Buck was in college he already up to 291 right now McDowell is at 276. Buck didn't have McDowell's injuries and was more productive. Also, I don't recall Buck having any issues with motor.
Even though 1st Pick has some quirks and grades that are flat out wrong...I still like using it as a brainstorm/projection tool to forecast possible draft outcomes and player availability.
Right now, I've been messing with the idea of addressing the offense whenever BPA allows.

I think Elliott has helped Prescott, along with the OL, etc. So many options but Garrett and Fournette not only has a lovely sound to it phonetically but would be a real difference. I change my mind each mock I do - that's what gaps does to ya!
This post got me thinking about Fournette, who for whatever reason I really didn't consider before but building stronger running game is as good a draft plan as any other.
Can you imagine how the team would look with a draft like this:
CHS....where would you take him and at what expense would you pay/draft wise to get him to CLE?
Just saw this.
I probably wouldn't pay anything to get him. I think there's good enough players in the top 10 picks that we shouldn't give up extra value to get someone. But this brings up a good situation as McShay had Peppers and Adams within the top 6 in his first mock. He bounces around in mocks a lot. I've seen him fall to 20 and be picked as high as 4. He's a pretty polarizing player.
With the Eagles bumping down to 12, I think we are out of Derek Barnett range. So for the people who wanted Allen + Barnett, I don't see anyway that happens now. Cinci and New Orleans won't let him go. I don't want Tim Williams because he will be 24.
Haven't seen too many in here talking about Jabrill Peppers or mentioning him in any mocks. If so, I apologize in advance for missing it.
Thoughts on him?...CHS....where would you take him and at what expense would you pay/draft wise to get him to CLE?
Great athlete that has the skillset to have instant impact in the return game.
When I see Peppers I see more an athlete then a position player. Its all projection with Peppers he's a good enough athlete to play a few positions but is he better then the top prospects at those positions? So for me I would have a hard time taking with either of the Browns 1st round picks.
I'm scared that we win a game and lose out on Garrett. It would be just our luck. Steeler might lose to us just to screw us over lol. I mean they prob don't want to deal with garrett twice a year forever.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
I see peppers a very interesting chess piece. Definitely best suited as a cover1 or 3 I see his closest comparison is chancellor but with more speed and versatility. It's funny because he's not unlike collins either. Both are hyperatheletic and Excell in areas your typical prospect of their positon are weak in. I love how he plays downHill and with time I think he could help a defense completely shut down TE's and screens making offense very vanilla. His natural instincts are just off the charts and he plays with a passion that lights everyone around him on fire. If he is there at the Eagles pick I would absolutely love to have him. The combo of him and garrett I think instantly elevate our defense to a whole new level with the possibility of a true elite defense in Cleveland one day if developed properly. I'm really hoping either peppers or McDowell make it to that pick. I have zero interest in adams or a qb.
It's all opinion, but I think Peppers is extremely overrated. He doesn't cover well. He had only one pick and that was a gift that was tipped right to him when he didn't have tight coverage on the play. He's very versatile, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who can lock down a position. I would not draft him w/in the first 2 rounds.
He wasn't playing "tight coverage" because he was playing zone, while his corners were in man coverage...
This is the hardest problem with Peppers. He was never asked to cover in the B1G, so people don't think he can cover. Could you imagine how dumb Harbaugh would have to be to have Peppers line up on every slot WR in the B1G? It'd be dumb. Who the hell is OSU, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin's slot WR? Do you know their RBs though? Talk about a waste of talent. I think if Peppers was in the Big 12 or Pac 12, he'd be a top coverage safety. He has the athleticism and then some for the position, but there's no need to defend the pass in the Big 10. No one passes in the Big 10. Look at who passes the most in the Big 10; Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern. No one good. No one important. Those teams weren't built to pass. They pass because they suck. Those are the only teams in the Big 10 who have thrown the ball more than 400 times this season. No one else eclipsed 400 throws this season. Penn State, who is one of the more pass heavy offenses (who are good) in the B1G still ran it over 100 more times than they passed this year. So why the heck would you play Jabrill in the passing game? Why do you want him to cover a WR who is just going to try to block him? Please. That's some Brady Hoke ideals, right there. Peppers has all the athleticism and size to cover in the NFL. The only people who don't see that are Buckeye homers. Peppers plays just as good coverage as Vonn Bell and Tyvis did last year.
LOL...........I know what coverage they were playing.
And your claim that the only people who don't like him are Buckeye homers is absurd. I love Jordan Howard and I would be happy to see the Browns draft him.
It's only an opinion on Peppers. Not sure why you had to take that route? Other than it's you just being you.
