Swish went to an Indians game with me, and we had a great time. I'm a white dude. He isn't racist.
That proves it!
So far, from this thread, you can't be racist if:
You have a white friend (And inversely working to benefit minorities makes you racist) Have ancestors who may have fought for the Union Are from the north.
As always I see DT has set the bar extremely high in this new era of tolerance.
You forgot a couple:
You can't be racist if:
--you are married to a German woman
--you are black
--you defend all blacks and blame whites for all of the black's problems
I am of the opinion we are all a bit racist until some turd terrorist attacks us. They kill a bunch of Gay people of all races in Florida, the whole Nation wants to draw and quarter the turd, Chick Fil A opens on a Sunday to feed the mourning families and friends, justice gets served, and we can get back to fighting each other again.
Wait, let me be real. I really don't give a rat's butt what you and Swish think because I think you are both bigots and one-sided. I am only making this reply for guys like Clem, who might have seem my recent posts and questioned where I am coming from. And again...before I post this...........I don't care what you and Swish think. You have both proven yourselves to be less than objective.
Clem...and other readers who are objective minorities: I want you to know that I believe it is a disservice to minorities when people make excuses for bad behavior. I despise the message that "it's okay for you to act out because of your circumstances." WTF!?!? You are telling that person that he/she isn't capable of making it through legitimate means in American society.
Instead, I am a proponent of telling people [just as I did w/my students] that they can indeed overcome the issues they face and become successful in this country. I believe that they can educate themselves. I believe that they can be morally responsible. I believe they can achieve monetary success. I believe in them and I despise those who are holding them down by force-feeding them w/rhetoric of how they are victims and can't succeed in our society.
Who does not understand hope?
Take away hope and you take away a man's soul.
Our country has many problems. Things are not fair for many individuals. However, we must provide hope through opportunities to all of our citizens.
It is my belief that we should treat all of our citizens equally. Each person should be afforded the same opportunities and the same consequences for poor behavior.
If we are to be truly equal, then all men/women should be given the chance to succeed and also be held accountable when they make mistakes. Differentiating on either side only perpetuates the divide between the races.
Look, I hate saying this in a way...........but, some of the comments by guys like CHS, Swish, and Rocket are kinda forcing my hand, but I seriously doubt that any one person on this board has done more in REAL LIFE to help minorities than I have. And I really have a problem w/a privileged person like CHS insinuating that I am a racist. I've given time. I've given money. I have a ton of black people who love me and I have the letters from them to prove it. Wanna challenge that, Mouth? Bet me! For each letter I provide, you pay me $1,000. Why should you worry if I am the racist that you claim I am?
I'm of the opinion that no one that regularly posts on this board is racist, despite the accusations thrown about.
I wish that were true, but I think there are plenty of racists on this board. That is not an indictment on the board, because there are plenty of racists in our society.
I am not going to name them right now, but I have a pretty good radar about such things.
For somebody who claims not to care what I think, you sure do keep my name in your mouth all the time.
I told you already, I don't do autographs.
I already know you lied about banging in East Cleveland. Why should I believe you did anything to help minorities?
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
You said you use to roll all up in East Cleveland and banging with your boys.
All you did was brag about that on the phone. Crap was getting annoying.
Apologize for what? Telling the truth? You trying to do me like Snowden now? Kick rocks. Not apologizing to you for anything.
You don't have to lie to kick it. Where you really from? Pepper pike? Rocky river? It's all good man I know the suburbs is boring.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
You just called me a one sided bigot. Don't play that "help all people" card. You and Diam out here playing victim.
I told y'all, you come at me with nonsense I'm bringing that heat.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Besides, vers doesn't have any friends. It's why he's always bringing up CHS, rocket, and myself.
Always sounding salty as well about it too.
I guess that's how guys from Shaker heights roll, right Vers?
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Vers stop writing me private messages, I'm not calling you.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
For someone who doesn't care, you sure do talk a lot. Now you want to gamble on the words of your friends?
Look Vers, don't call people racist if you can't handle being called a racist. You constantly insult and berate people then flip the table when someone gives you your own medicine. Quite frankly, I don't care how many minorities have written to you. Nor do I care how many you claim to help. Because currently, all you're doing is using them as a shield to protect yourself. It's pretty self serving.
Quite frankly, you get into a lot of these fights because you read so much into everyone's posts. If someone is critical of the police, you think they're racist against white people. If someone points out that white people do more drugs than minorities, yet minorities are arrested far more often , you take away that they want more white people arrested. And that poster wants to attack white people. Instead of understanding that they're saying: 1)Stop profiling minorities 2) Decriminalize drugs
You do this constantly on this forum and it's the number one reason why it's always you against the crowd. You alienate the people around you, even if they think like you do, because you fail to comprehend or understand your friends on here. Can you name the last thread that you partake in where you aren't in a verbal fisticuffs by the time the thread dies? I can't. You're not a lone crusader against the bad in all of these situations. You're sometimes the monster who scares away all the villagers because you want to be accepted.
Now look, everyone on this forum including myself, despite what my signature says, are all for creating opportunities for Americans. That's why we're all here and debate topics with such ferocity. Because we recognize the problem and are driven crazy by the inequality we see around us. However, we all have different ideas on how to fix it. Like Momma said, "There is more than one way to crack an egg." and we're all the head chef arguing about it. No one is against creating opportunities for Americans nor minorities. It's ridiculous to think so. And pointing out problems, does not make those people victims. That's crazy talk. No one is going to kids and excusing bad behavior because they'll be victims no matter what. Again, these are arguments you made up. We all want everyone to have roughly (Unless you're me) the same opportunities afforded to their peers regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.
But to answer your question, yes. I want to see all those letters and I want proof that that these people exist. If you could scan their letters with their social security cards and a picture of them, I'll gladly pay you $1000 dollars per letter.
Vers, maybe I'm a pessimist, but I've always hated telling people that if they put their mind to it they can overcome anything. That's not how the world works. There will always be people who suffer and people who benefit from those who suffer. I know you don't want to send an awful message, but its reality. A lot of good, honest, hard working people will die before they harvest the fruits of their labor. For a lot of people it doesn't matter if they do things the right way.
I'm sorry to cherry pick and I know it has nothing to do with race. I just don't give advice for the reasons I just mentioned. Also, in no way are you a bad person for it.
I love garbage conspiracy theories. My faivorite was one I heard a few years ago about the CIA being partly responsible for the violence in Chicago. The theory suggests it was done to push stricter gun laws and turn Chicago into a police state for the government to study occupational control.
Just to add on to what I was saying and that I didn't make up people believing it-
I'm impressed... several pages of nonsense in and no one is blaming the cops!
I'm one of those posters who will NOT blame cops on 'auto-pilot.'
I spent too much of my 'Wonder Years' surrounded by them to know that they don't occupy a single stereotype. Cops are people. They agree and disagree on a wide range of topics. Just like accountants, attorneys, CEO's and line workers at the local manufacturing plant.
In my world, you shouldn't be surprised by something like this.
Trump to Rahm: Get Chicago violence under control or feds will step in
President-elect Donald Trump said Monday that if Mayor Rahm Emanuel can’t turn the tide on Chicago's soaring murder rate, Washington may need to step in.
Trump, who frequently cited Chicago’s violence during the presidential campaign, tweeted about The Windy City a day after the Chicago Police Department released year-end crime stats showing homicide numbers that dwarfed those of New York and Los Angeles combined.
“Chicago murder rate is record setting - 4,331 shooting victims with 762 murders in 2016. If Mayor can't do it he must ask for Federal help!” Trump tweeted.

Most of the Chicago statistics were grim, showing the nation’s third-largest city recorded 1,100 more shooting incidents than in 2015 and had homicides spike by 278 – the largest increase in 60 years.
CHICAGO'S BLOODIEST YEAR ENDS WITH 762 HOMICIDES
Trump and Emanuel broached the topic of Chicago’s surging violence during a Dec. 7 sit-down. While Emanuel later told reporters most of the meeting focused on immigration, infrastructure and education, he also acknowledged the two had “talked about public safety.”
A spokesman for Emanuel released a statement Sunday, obtained by The Chicago Tribune, that alluded to the December meeting, but did not directly address Trump’s call for possible federal intervention.
“As the president-elect knows from his conversation with the mayor, we agree the federal government has a strong role to play in public safety by funding summer jobs and prevention programming for at-risk youth, by holding the criminals who break our gun laws accountable for their crimes, by passing meaningful gun laws, and by building on the partnerships our police have with federal law enforcement,” the statement from Adam Collins said. “We are heartened he is taking this issue seriously and look forward to working with the new administration on these important efforts.”
Sunday’s tweet wasn’t the first time Trump has taken a public swipe at Emanuel’s handling of the violence epidemic. During an August interview with Fox News' Bill O’Reilly on “The O’Reilly Factor", Trump said Chicago's crime problem couldn’t be solved “because they don’t have the right people in charge.”
“When I was in Chicago, I got to meet a couple of very tough police,” Trump said. “I said, ‘How do you stop this? How do you stop this? If you were put in charge to a specific person, do you think you could stop this?’ He said, ‘Mr. Trump I would be able to stop it in one week,’ and I believed him 100 percent.”
On the campaign trail, Trump also backed the use of the controversial stop-and-frisk tactic, saying “Chicago needs” it.
“But they asked me about Chicago and I think stop-and-frisk with good strong, you know, good strong law and order,” Trump said during a September event. “But you have to do something. It can’t continue the way it’s going.”
Oh wait. That's not what you said. And what you said, I didn't say. I've already proposed ideas in the thread previously.
There's a lot of problems with stop and frisk, mainly it should be unconstitutional. I mean, the thought of a cop telling you to stop, as they pat you down, is so wrong anywhere else. Could you imagine the outrage if this were to happen in small towns and suburban cities? It's a major constitutional infraction. It's a joke. I also have a problem with broken window policing, which doesn't seem like a great way to deal with crime in the long run.
Your screwing up the playbook ... thats not til page 93 ... u skipped pages 66 and 72 ...
The 60's and the fire hoses and dogs come before the nazi correlations ... come on man ... your gonna throw the rest of your buds off going against the playbook ...

Psssst .... small towns and cities like Chicago have NOTHING IN COMMON ... they should be policed differently ... same with suburban cities ... maybe the fact u don't understand the differences oughta be the first clue your out of your league here ... that would be a sign to me that maybe i need to listen a little more and quit showing how ignorant i am .. but thats just me ...
I mean gimme a break ... in most small towns they have less murders in a year than chi-town does in a day ... 2 a day in chicago ... *shrugs* .. just another grapes to watermelon comparision .. who cares how much different they are ... throw it out there anyhow ..
But hey ... u just focus on what the trumpster said about "stop and frisk" and not the entire article ... thats page 3 in the playbook ... IGNORE AND DEFLECT ... IGNORE AND DEFLECT ...
As far as stop and frisk goes ... why don't u go take a straw poll of folks in the city of chicago ... u know the PEOPLE that would actually be affected by that particular law ... bet the non criminals would be very very receptive to it ... my gues is there sick of being "civilian casualties" to the gang violence ... but who knows .. maybe they enjoy the "excitement" ..
But as long as your safe and secure in your little "sancuatary city" u keep touting your civil rights ... no matter how adversely they affect others ...
Would you be adverse to the same policy being implemented in Southern Ohio and rural West Virginia where the heroin epidemic is currently taking place ? Any white male between 13 and 55 being subject to search ?
Would you be adverse to the same policy being implemented in Southern Ohio and rural West Virginia where the heroin epidemic is currently taking place ? Any white male between 13 and 55 being subject to search ?
No. Wait, what kind of search?
Looking for a gun? Nope, don't have a problem with it. Find heroin? No problem with it.
Start it here in my town. Walking down the street? Get stopped, asked for i.d. Can't provide it? Get a pat down.
Now, if you want to come on my property, then yes, I have a problem with it. But, that's not what we're talking about, is it.
If this country is OK with profiling any single segment of its population, it should still be OK when everyone's family is profiled. Anything less than that is a colossal example of widespread social hypocrisy.
If you don't mind living in a country where a constitutional issue is placed on a greased 30° incline and let loose, have at it.
____________
This is why constitutional law is so thorny for most everyday folk: every constitutional issue is 'negotiable,' so long as "we/ours" aren't being targeted by a breach of said 'rules.' As soon as we/ours find ourselves in the crosshairs, we want those constitutional guarantees to be absolute.
This makes for a particularly prickly problem: if it's OK for 'stop & frisk' to take place in E CLE or Southside, it becomes ethically, constitutionally, and morally untenable to prohibit the govt from doing a stop & frisk on Ward or June Cleaver.
Throwing young inner-city males up against a wall for a routine, daily 'pat-down' may seem like a straight-forward, clear-cut solution to an immediate problem for some, but it won't seem so clear-cut when that same approach is applied to pill-popping minivan-driving suburban housewives, hip young urban professionals, and country cousins who we only see once ever 5 years or so, at the family reunions.
Here's how I've seen these issues, from 50 years of social cognizance as a 'Citizen on the Fringe of Total Acceptance:'
It sucks out loud to have been 'profiled' since the age of 10. It sucked out loud to be someone who had to wait until his hair turned grey to get off America's 'profile priority list.'
I've spent 2/3 of my life under surveillance. By cops. By employers. By store clerks. By fellow citizens in elevators. And I had to start looking like Morgan Freeman in 'Driving Miss Daisy' to become invisible to skeptical glances, mistrust, and outright hostility.
one helluva life, eh?
So, I did the most expedient thing a person with my 'profile' could do... I parlayed my natural proclivities for music, speech, communication and social interaction into a life that puts me onstage 12-16 hours per day. Nowadays, when I'm 'profiled' in public, I interact with the 'profiler' from a position of recognition and gravitas. I come at my community from a position of strength, because I've spent my entire public life "on display."
It's not a talent. It's not an art. It's a learned set of skills. And learning is hard effin' work. Every day.
It's second nature for me now, because I've had to live it ever since I reached the age of 10. Harsher rules. More restrictive/oppressive/ rules. Not by Law (since 1964)- but by 'social norms.'
But passing a local 'S&F ordinance' isn't really the point. The point is: are we a country that's OK with elements of marshal law, when it's applied to people other than us?
To all My Dawgtalkers, I ask this: "How fast could you or your family learn to cope with 'Clem's America'... if you had to start....
RIGHT NOW. (tick, tick, tick...)
I was trained since birth how to be 'Colored In America.' And it took me 10+ years to start negotiating the 'finer points.' How fast can Mandy and Ethan catch up
Multiple studies of stop and frisk showed it made no difference, and the majority of those stopped (minorities) weren't guilty of whatever the officers assumed.
But, no one wants to listen. Feelings>Facts seems to be par for the course these days, and that's a darn shame. Welcome to the idiocrisy.
I'm sure this isn't what you're talking about, but:
Another fellow and I were heading back to n.w. Ohio, each in our own car. I was following him. In TN. He had an old car, I had a brand new one. Shiny black. Fun car. Both of us going 65 in a 65 zone. I had my ball cap on backwards.
As we pass a cop sitting in the median, he pulls out. To make a long story short, the cop pulls me over. Asks if I know why? I said no. He told me I was going 76 in a 65. Blatant lie.
Tells me to get out of my car, which I did. Asks for my license, which I gave him. Takes me to the back seat of his car, inserts me, and slams the door. Another cop pulls up.
First cop asks me where I was, where I was going, how long I'd been where I was, what I was there for, and asks if I have anything of value in my car.
Yeah, my camera, and some clothes.
Mind if I check? I was dumb, and said okay. Now I'm locked in the back of a cop car, and I just gave permission for the cop to search my car. And he did.
All because I was going 65 in a 65 zone, in a new car - although he "clocked me at 76." After he found nothing, he told me to slow down.
(and granted, he could've planted anything he wanted in my car)
16 yr. old daughter has been pulled over twice. For nothing. Well, other than driving near the school at just before midnight the first time.
Second time, she was taking home a girl she babysat for. Taking her home to a nice neighborhood. Cop followed her into the drive where she was dropping the kid off. Why? Driving at night.
Profiling, all 3 of them.
Perhaps I don't have to deal with it as much as you do, and you can blow all this off if you'd like. But it isn't just blacks that get profiled.
Poor neighborhoods, people probably get profiled more, I don't doubt that.
