I'm not going to play wack-a-troll on this one because I struggle to understand all the transgender, gender identification stuff too. I mean I used to think that if you were a guy but felt like you were supposed to be a girl, you were just gay. But now you can be a guy and gender identify as a girl but sexually prefer to be with girls (which used to be cross dressing) and not be gay at all or maybe identify as lesbian... TOO MANY OPTIONS. We've somehow turned a binary equation into a sexual/gender identification philosophy that would confuse Freud and Kinsey. yeah, for me its simpler though, whatever you are stated as being on your birth certificate, thats the bathroom you use...i care less what you think you are...it's asinine this is a discussion and even more so there was laws passed allowing this to even be open for interpretation. This isn't a pro/con trump...just the issue at hand, i don't care who repealed it as long as it does So you are fine with standing next to gay men at the urinals? Or a transexual in a dress standing next to you? And the safety of those individuals has to be considered because we are not all so open minded and as accepting as you are... And the boy, that gender identifies as a girl and spends every living moment as a girl in every other way has to break from that and pee in a men's room like a boy even though they look and act like girls... ???? There is so much more to this all and it's not that black and white.

I have noticed a lot of restaurants and stores now have 2 bathrooms, both marked "Restroom". The door has a lock so only one person at a time can use them.
Now, for the sake of .00001 of our population, we all get to wait in line. There is nothing wrong with unisex bathrooms in my opinion. If a bathroom has more than one stall the walls can be extended and the doors made to lock. No more of a line than any other. I've never seen a woman try to use a urinal, and they are usually separate from the stalls. A few 3/4 walls here and there and it's all good. Although they do have these female adapters now that let them pee standing up, so there is that... lol

This whole transgender and bathrooms things was a solution in search of a problem.
Nearly 8 yrs as a cop and I've NEVER been called to or even met anyone else I've worked with called to a report of a person of dubious gender in a restroom.
What you guys keep glossing over is that the HB2 ordnance made the 'defnition' of male/female 100% subjective. It removed any definition of it.
What it did in reality is allow someone like 40, bearded and man stinky to walk in to the women's locker room at Planet Fitness and check out his glorious gains in the mirror. When the cops get there, all he has to say is "I identify as a woman" and that would be it. At that point the cops don't have any legal authority to identify him if he doesn't want to because the ordnance let him be there.
THAT is why people were concerned about the safety of their kids. It's not that being transgender poses some kind of threat in itself. It's all the pedophiles and child molesters that you guys are/were willing to give a free pass to.
Now where the NC Reps screwed up and screwed McCrory out of a re-election, was the other half of HB2 stripped gay and transgendered people standing in State Court to sue for discrimination. My own opinion is that it was supposed to be some kind of payback for the Marriage Amendment down here being over turned.

Well, I see both sides of this thing too. I don't want 40 in my locker room let alone my granddaughter's, lol. But at the same time I see the other side. So, this is not a battle point for me, I just don't think there is an easy or religiously correct/anatomically correct answer to this that is one size fits all unless you simply have no tolerance for the "gender identity" community. I was aware of LGBTQ as a young adult, but never heard or even contemplated gender identity until the last decade or so.

I was aware of LGBTQ as a young adult, but never heard or even contemplated gender identity until the last decade or so. Sure there's an easy answer, and it's got nothing to do with religion or morality for that matter. When we arrest someone who is transgender, they are processed at the jail based on what their ID says. I don't know the criteria, but from my understanding you can get your gender legally changed. Prior to processing though, we straight up ask if they prefer to be called Mr. or Ms., if they prefer to be called something other than their legal name. Si in my personal interaction with these folks, there's no reason not to interact with them on that level, but ultimately we roll with the objective legal standard. Not that I've taken a lot of trans gendered folk to jail, but they've all seemed pretty understanding of the process. I feel for those who have such difficulties and honestly I don't mind affording them some degree of latitude. But you can't afford such a degree of latitude where others are put at such a risk. Like I said, it was a solution in search of a problem. I think a fair compromise would be to continue to designate public restrooms and locker rooms that are multi-occupant to be restricted to your legal gender. I wouldn't be opposed to an ordnance that makes all single occupancy bathrooms unisex though.

No issue with gay and lesbian, but this gender identity is ridiculous and I won't ever support it, you are what you are physically. Bottom line. What you're attracted to is your own business, just don't bring it into my son/daughters business so they have to ask why. Or worse yet find out that they are perverts and I'm forced to break them down like a shotgun. God what has society come to

SMH - Seriously? Wow. Why is there a wall/fence around the whitehouse? Or around Obama's new home? There are many other examples as well. Do you have an answer for that?

Are we comparing a couple thousand square feet to a 1000 + mile border, complete with a gran canyon and rivers?

Hey... Go see "The Great Wall". THAT is exactly why we need a wall. Matt Damon is in it because he supports a Wall too

But forreal, the wall is that important in the movie? I can't wait to see it on HBO in like 4 months. I'm always down for some sci-fi.

It's definitely different than most U.S. films. Willem Dafoe hasn't looked that young... in like ever! lol

Well then build a wall around Matt Damon until he knows himself well enough to know not to take a role in what is an obvious clunker. I don't care what the world box office numbers come in at. A bad movie is a bad movie. Did Damon get hit by the IRS? What was he thinking?

Matt Damon is allowed to have a movie flop after that newest Jason Bourne. That movie was straight up fire.

If The Wall is anything like Pacific Rim then it'll gross more in China than it does in the U.S. and to studios and directors, that's really the only thing that matters. You don't work with annoying writers, prima donna actors and nagging producers for the art at that point. Nah, they just want that cold hard cash.

They are still in talks for a Pacific Rim 2. But Del Toro is a little too busy for that probably. But it's at least a chance. That's such a great movie. Doesn't get the love that it deserves.

THAT is why people were concerned about the safety of their kids. It's not that being transgender poses some kind of threat in itself. It's all the pedophiles and child molesters that you guys are/were willing to give a free pass to.
This has been my argument all along, for which I've been called a homophobe many times. I'm not concerned about the chance that a man who identifies as a woman being in the bathroom with my daughter. I have no empirical data to back this us, but my guess is that there are fewer (by percentage) pedophiles in the LGBTQ (did I miss a letter) community than there are outside of it.. my concern is, and always has been, sneding my daughter into a mall bathroom when any man can just walk in and hang out in there and nobody can say anything to him about it. As you pointed out, this was a solution looking for a problem.

Are we comparing a couple thousand square feet to a 1000 + mile border, complete with a gran canyon and rivers? Yes, same issue different scale. It's like the old joke: Man to hot young woman: "would you have sex with me for a million dollars?" young woman: "Sure" Man: "would you have sex with me for $10?" young woman: "No way, what kind of girl do you think I am?" Man: "we already established that, now we are just haggling over the price" So a really rich person can build a big wall around his home and it's for security. A somewhat rich person can build a wall around his neighborhood and it's for security. But if you want to build a wall along the border to protect those who can't afford to live in a house with a big wall around it, it's racist.

very few people have said it's racist.
but most people have said it won't work. that's a huge difference.
while there might be factors of racism, there's a reason why most politicians, including Reagan, have not really done much to actually fix the problem.
people on both sides will post the numbers as evidence of their opinions.
but my stance is firm on the idea that big business and politicians are aware of certain benefits and consequences in a big picture perspective that a lot of people at our level aren't taking into account.
this is one of those situations, IMO, where ending illegal immigration sounds good on paper, but in practice...well....who knows. we've seen things sound good on paper only to be train wrecks in actual practice.
like Trickle down economics. and the war on Terror.
