That's part of the fun for championship games. Trying to find which team to root for.
I hope whichever Carolina considers themselves "First in flight" loses for such a horrible statement.

Did you know Carowinds is owned by FUN?

I hope whichever Carolina considers themselves "First in flight" loses for such a horrible statement. That's North Carolina. Kitty Hawk, which is part of the Outer Banks [I lived in Cape Hatteras for 3 years] is where the Wright Brothers went to test their plane. It's pretty cool. It's not nearly as commercial as most beaches, but that part of the Outer Banks is certainly more developed than Hatteras and Okracoke. But anyway, your driving down the main road and all of a sudden there is this huge sand hill that rises fairly high. You have a lot of wind coming off of the ocean and the Sound which isn't too far away. I can see why the Wright Brothers went there to test their aircraft. If anyone is interested, head down that way. Cross the Oregon Inlet [which is a bridge over waters that look tropical. The government owns much of the land that encompasses Hatteras Island and includes towns like Avon, Frisco, Buxton, Rodanthe, Salvo, and Hatteras Village. Once you cross that beautiful bridge, you are treated to a wonderful site. The ocean is one side and the Sound is on the other side. They are very close in many areas. I could hit a 7 iron from the ocean and land the golf ball in the Sound. That is how close they are. The dunes are incredibly high and the sand is a pristine white. Breathtaking. The people are a bit strange as there is a lot of in-breeding there. You look at the local phone book and many have the same name. But CHS............the beaches are out of this world!!!! No low-rent, tacky establishments. Not developed. You can take a ferry from Hatteras Village to Okracoke and that is even better. It is rated as one of the best beaches in the entire world. They have wild horses running on the beaches. People ride bikes and horses across the island. Very artsy. It's expensive, though.........due to how remote it is.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

quote by me on February 14, 2017 (in reference to the UConn women's basketball team):
"I'll put UConn at 50% chance of finishing the year undefeated."
I didn't actually believe they'd lose this year. But it did seem statistically likely.
For instance, if a team is a two touchdown underdog every game they play (+14 points) in the NFL, on average they will lose 19 out of 20 games.
So over a 16 game season they have a better than 50% of winning one game.
(1/20 chance of winning * 16 games = 16/20 chance of winning one game during the season)
Unless of course it's the Cleveland Browns. In which case the known laws of reality do not apply.

I'm rooting for a PNW final. Zags v Ducks. But, a Ducks v Gamecock final would be fun too. They already surprised all by dismantling UCLA early in the season then KU last week and now they face NC. Can they do it? I am not a Duck but, I am proud of my adopted state so hope they upset the Tarheels and make it to the final. Also, we have started touring colleges/unis with my son. We will be down in Eugene later this month. That said, I don't think UofO is top of his list.

Looks like the refs want UNC to win after the foul call on the block of that Justin Jackson layup.

*DISCLAIMER* I hate being "that guy" it's definitely not my style. But that call was horse.... UNC is obviously the better team, I don't want to be blame it on the refs guy.

Wow, 4 straight missed free throws to close it out, but two offensive rebounds after each shooter missed the second shot and UNC somehow wins the game.
That's incredible!

Yep, one big cardinal sin in basketball is missing free throws ... unfortunately for Oregon, the bigger cardinal sin is not boxing out at the foul line

That said, NC outplayed them for most of the game. Had they lost in the final seconds would have been a huge turn of fortunes. The better team won last night and those two final plays proved it.

Seems like a whistle every trip down the court. Whatever happened to "Let em play" for Championship games?

Looks awful on TV. Yes, I'm having a hard time telling where the out of bounds is.

Refs have already decided this game by getting every Gonzaga big man with 4 fouls and still 7 minutes to play. That flagrant 1 was the biggest pile of BS I've ever seen.

No kidding DC, I don't see how either player had a flagrant 1. It's been ridiculous for both sides.

These officials are absolutely pathetic. I honestly don't think these college officials knew how to call a game with two teams that both have multiple legitimate big men who play like big men.. it's pretty rare in a college basketball game any more to have that and they sucked... I don't think they are the REASON Carolina won but they did ruin the second half.

Yeah, Goss trying to go all hero-ball on a bad ankle probably wasn't the smartest move either.

That was a very disappointing championship game.
Like others have mentioned, the officiating was an issue. Too many good players in foul trouble during the biggest game of the year.
Also, I get that they played good defense, but there were several things that were horrible. The shot selection was horrid. The sloppiness was inexcusable. The lack of accurate shooting was embarrassing.
Eck, it was a very disappointing final.

i couldnt believe some of the shots those dudes were taking. It was less organized and more poorly played than my YMCA pickup games (honestly)

I think the sloppy play was attributed to all the stoppages (refs and commercials). It ruined the flow.

And the short turn around, nerves, playing in a football stadium, etc. It's just not an ideal situation to have a championship game (for the players)

Playing in a huge football stadium gives off an emptier feel, like it's hard to judge the spatial relation between things. A lot of people have been killing the refs, but it's a lot of other things too. And it's too bad, it was a close game. Somehow, I felt cheated, like it could have been better.
