I can't believe there's no love for malik lol. I got shot down for saying 3T wasn't a huge need and now one of my top 15 prospects is sitting at 33 and no one's going crazy

Not nominating anyone. Just throwing out a couple names of players who are available and will likely go in this range. The tough part of these kind of drafts is keeping track of who is available and who has been taken.
TJ Watt Charles Harris Jordon Willis Caleb Brantley Sydney Jones

This draft is as rich with defensive talent from every position as I have ever seen and with all our picks I hope we take advantage of it ... JMHO

I'm all for loading up on DBs

Question CHS as we have so many picks what do you guys think about a trade up? We have 2 late 2nds, extra picks later and I'm not certain the safety we need will be there(the poll looks like we are going cb now at 33).

I think at safety, from the options left we have:
Melifonwu King Williams Maye
I like the first 3 over Maye. However looking at other players still available:
DT Brantley, Adams, McDowell OL Feeney - I know we invested in free agency but he's going to be good OL Dawkins - we've shown interest WR Jones, Kupp, Schuster LB Watt, Jarrad Davis CB Quincy Wilson, Awuzie, Tabor and Sidney Jones
That's just off the top of my head. Lots of talent left. Take BPA.

White- I feel like he could come in a start and provide some of that LSU swagger/attitude to go along w/ Gregg Williams tone
Brantley- Not sure if reaching here but I would really want to add a 3-tech to round out the front 7
Williams- Center field FS that imo is flying under the radar
Obi- long defender with speed that can cover RBs, WRs & TE, doesn't hit with the pop I like but doesn't miss a bunch of tackles either for me though its his ability to cover different positions that is his calling card

My other thought is truly if you would have asked me three weeks ago I would say the most talented player left is clearly Malik McDowell.
We're not privy to what actually happened at the combine and how is interviews went but the rumors and the talk suggests that does something off the field with him.
I have no idea if that's correct or not could be a hundred percent true could be or could be 100% false.
So being that we don't know or I don't know at least I'm not going to hold that against him and go with what I see on film and based on that film McDowell to me is the highest rated player on the board.
But the next question is scheme fit his profile is that of the Prototype five technique. But comma I've always thought that if you are a good coordinator then you find a place in your defense for a good player. So I've been bouncing around in my mind different ways that you could use McDowell with in a 4-3 and different things that Greg Williams has done as far as playing a bigger base defensive end and using a player like Myles Garrett or old but as a pass-rushing outside linebacker. But then I just realized that I don't have to figure it out I just have to provide the player as a GM.
Sorry for the stream-of-consciousness Rambo I'm using voice to text

Philadelphia has acquired defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and the No. 99 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft from Baltimore in exchange for the draft's No. 74 overall selection, the two teams announced Tuesday.

Guys I had a typo in my trade information. The pick Miami sent to the Jets in he talks third round was 104 (acquire some from KC in my first trade down), not 107. The Jets already owned 107. THe Jets should be in possession of both 104 and 107.

The Bears have selected Marcus Williams, FS Utah with the 36th pick. He was a targeted player before the draft commenced. Admittedly a "need" pick but also very close to BPA. TJ Watt was also seriously considered for this pick...

With the 34th pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft, The Miami Dolphins select Malik McDowell, Defensive Tackle, Michigan State The Dolphins were abysmal against the run last year and are looking to get better up front. Early in the season, McDowell showed the ability to penetrate and stop the run. Pro Football Focus credited him with 11 run stops in his first four games this season, to go along with 18 pressures in that same span. Questions about his effort and attitude have resulted in this fall, but the potential is there. We have to do things to make sure Suh isn’t doubled the entire game,” Gase said, referring to Suh taking on two blockers. “Whoever is playing opposite him, he has to make plays.
Defensive tackle is one the thinnest positions in next month’s draft, so if the Dolphins plan to find a player who can come in and help immediately they might be forced to use an early pick on a top-shelf talent like Michigan State’s Malik McDowell... The Dolphins didn’t add a defensive tackle in free agency. But they do have keen interest in adding one in the draft — perhaps in the very first round. In fact, they think highly enough of Michigan State’s Malik McDowell that defensive line coach Terrell Williamstraveled to East Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday for a private workout.

With the 37th pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft, The Los Angeles Rams select Antonio Garcia, Offensive Line, Troy The Rams have been unable to field a decent offensive line for more than a decade, but it hasn't been for lack of trying. Once again, they've committed significant resources to the OL, signing 34 year old Andrew Whitworth to a three year deal worth eight figures annually. Here, they add Garcia, the small school left tackle out of Troy. In one game, a dominant performance against a ferocious Clemson defense, Antonio Garcia proved he had the skills to play with the big boys, displaying true left tackle feet and a sturdy base. The Rams envision their draftee as a left guard year one, then swapping places with the aging Whitworth once he shows signs of slowing down.

wow, yeah that's a big commitment to the secondary When you've got Aaron Rodgers in your division. Need to upgrade the pass rush (not too bad currently), but can't fix everything in one go...

Is this the new trend - 3 safties on the field at the same time?
New Orleans now has SS Vaccaro, FS Bell, and FS Baker and now Chicago has S Amos, SS Adams, and FS Williams plus S Quinton Demps and 2 guys they drafted last year.

I don't know if its new.
Redskins used to do this back when they had Blache/Gregg Williams.
They used a "big nickel" package of 3 Safeties and called it Cobra. I know the Giants used it sometimes also. This was around 2012.

The bengals selected Joe Mixon, not because they are the bungles (which they are ), rather because several of their fans have told me they want him and that marvin is big on taking guys like this and helping them, i.e. burfict and pacman. I think he fits right in and is a top talent rb. This also spells the end of Jeremy Hill.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

I was just talking about the Safties. They drafted Deon Bush in the 4th rnd and DeAndre Houston-Carson in the 6th rnd last year to go along with the recently signed Demps and Adrian Amos their 5th rnd pick from 2015 who has developed into a real good player.

In case he is still on the board, and with back-to-back picks coming up, I would again like to nominate Obi-wu (Kenobi ). (I really like the kid)
