I could have sworn that I made a post...wonder what happened to it? I will address this post to "myself" so as not to offend anyone.
I'm not really a negative individual..I refer to "myself" as "REALISTIC" and my posts reflect that point of view.
I'm all out of "cheers" ...my cheerleading days are gone. Just too much propaganda from the Browns owner/management, patting themselves on the back for the job they have done every off-season, only to totally disappoint the fans, once again.
I thought the Peter King ranking of our "1-15" Browns at 31 was actually very realistic. Keep in mind, the Browns drafted some guys, but those guys have not played a down of "real football"...once I see them perform on the football field, when it actually "counts"..then I will have a better idea of talent drafted. Look at this way, Peter King cut us a break..he could have ranked the Browns 32 and no one would have a legitimate argument.
My problem with the front office...they just can't stop messing up "something" during free agency. They had a pretty good off-season going, signing a center, which we did need ...and they signed an OG that really wasn't the main issue with our OLine last season...I do understand that Greco and Bitonio were injured and Greco is 32 and 2017 is the last year of his contract..it doesn't look like this front office is interested in resigning Greco. Bitonio extended..good -- signed Collins..good again!
...all the Harvard Boys had to do was get their best WR signed to a contract..any kind of contract..1yr, 2yrs, 3,4 or 5yrs. The front office had the entire year to get the guy signed and just like clock work, it was like watching a rerun of the Schwartz contract effort with a front office unable to get the job done.
There is something very wrong in this front office and their inability to get contracts done with some of the Browns best players is not acceptable and it did hurt the team in 2016 and it happened again in 2017.
That issue must be addressed and corrected or the front office will continue to add more of our best players to this list of free agents they failed to get signed...since Haslam purchased the team in Oct 2012, TJ Ward, Ahtyba Rubin, Buster Skrine, Jabaal Sheard, Mitchell Schwartz, Tashaun Gipson, Travis Benjamin, Alex Mack, Terrelle Pryor.
Remember, I'm not being negative...just realistic.

Maybe you're overvaluing Pryor.

Maybe you're overvaluing Pryor. When the Browns want to get a free agent from another team signed...no problem.
But when it comes time to resign our own, best players...the Browns record speaks for itself.
The Browns have a problem in the front office that needs to be addressed. Losing your best players over "peanuts" is just plain ignorance within the Browns front office.

Browns add Ryan Grigson to personnel department Posted 2 minutes ago http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...3e-4ae389cdff6fThe Cleveland Browns have hired Ryan Grigson as Senior Personnel Executive. Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown made the announcement. Grigson will report to Vice President of Player Personnel Andrew Berry. “Ryan brings valuable experience to our personnel group,” said Brown. “He was raised as a road-scout and has been evaluating talent in this league for almost 20 years. We place a premium on that experience and on his passion for football. Ryan has much to offer to any personnel department and we are pleased that he chose to join our staff.” “We are excited to add Ryan to our personnel department,” said Berry. “Having worked with him for four years with the Colts, I know Ryan is an individual with a palpable passion for scouting, a tireless work ethic and an insatiable competitive drive. His experiences as an NFL player and executive will prove valuable to the mission of our group, while his team-orientation and personal integrity will continue to strengthen our department’s culture.” Grigson enters his 19th season in an NFL front office after previously serving as General Manager for the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-16. During his time with the Colts, he helped the team to three playoff appearances, two AFC South division titles and was named NFL Executive of the Year for the 2012 season by Sporting News. Grigson spent 2004-11 with the Philadelphia Eagles, rising in rank from western regional scout to director of player personnel during his final two seasons. Grigson also spent five seasons with the St. Louis Rams as national scout (1999-00) and area scout (2001-03). He also has experience in the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League. A graduate of Purdue, Grigson was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft.

I think the new FO is really improving and I'm encouraged. They have to win, but I feel a lot better this year than I did at this time last year.

This is going to sound weird, but...
mac, I actually completely agree with you on the ranking part. With our recent past, we need to earn every single rankings bump with hard results. Saying we should improve, and actually pushing ourselves up the ranking list are two totally different things.
I do expect the Browns to be a better team this year, but we need to actually show/prove we're a better team before we can expect any sort of respect.

I hope the refs lock this thread. It's 10 pages long and it's contentious as all get out.

(I Wasn't around in 1929) ... JMHO I don't think many of us were.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
