I assume because Flynn hasn't been convicted of anything yet. If/when he is formally charged/arrested/convicted, I'm guessing he'd be pardoned.

Also a Pardon of Flynn will not keep him from testifying against Trump.

Carrier Corp. announced layoffs this week, including nearly 300 jobs the week before Christmas that will be outsourced to Mexico.

The air conditioning company told employees Monday that 632 positions will be cut this year, despite promises otherwise by President Donald Trump. A letter received by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development said 338 staffers will be cut by July 20, followed by four more before Oct. 1 and another 290 on Dec. 22.

"This action follows a thorough evaluation of our manufacturing operations and is intended to address the challenges the business faces in a a rapidly changing industry," Carrier Senior Human Resources Manager Steven Morris wrote.

According to the Associated Press, the cuts will affect employees in Indianapolis and Huntington. Carrier is closing a plant in Huntington and moving its fan coil production to Mexico, where labor costs are lower.

CNN reports the job cuts are not a surprise, despite claims by Trump that as many as 1,400 jobs had been saved in a deal that included $7 million in state tax incentives for Carrier. Chuck Jones, president of the United Steelworkers 1999, which represents Carrier employees, said Trump lied and only 730 jobs had been saved; at least 550 jobs were always expected to be cut.

"These companies are not going to be leaving anymore," Trump said when he visited the Carrier plant on Dec. 1.

United Steelworkers Local 1999 Vice President Robert James told the AP that it's still "cold" to put people out of work just days before the holidays.

Carrier, owned by Hartford, Connecticut-based United Technologies Corp., once had its worldwide headquarters in Syracuse. It still employs about 1,300 people in research and development, information technology, finance, marketing and other services at its DeWitt facility near Carrier Circle

Just watched Trump lecture Nato about how much money they owe in front of the 911 Memorial. Nato partners were expecting an introductory type speech that's reaffirmed America's commitment to article 5, "an attack on one is an attack on all".

I agree that the Nato partners need to pay their fair share, but this was not the time to address it. Trump is a buffoon.

Trump tells Duterte of two U.S. nuclear subs in Korean waters: NYT

U.S. President Donald Trump told his Philippine counterpart that Washington has sent two nuclear submarines to waters off the Korean peninsula, the New York Times said, comments likely to raise questions about his handling of sensitive information.

Trump has said "a major, major conflict" with North Korea is possible because of its nuclear and missile programs and that all options are on the table but that he wants to resolve the crisis diplomatically.

North Korea has vowed to develop a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead that can strike the mainland United States, saying the program is necessary to counter U.S. aggression.

Trump told Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte Washington had "a lot of firepower over there", according to the New York Times, which quoted a transcript of an April 29 call between the two.

"We have two submarines — the best in the world. We have two nuclear submarines, not that we want to use them at all," the newspaper quoted Trump as telling Duterte, based on the transcript.

The report was based on a Philippine transcript of the call that was circulated on Tuesday under a "confidential" cover sheet by the Americas division of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.

In a show of force, the United States has sent the nuclear-powered USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier to waters off the Korean peninsula, where it joined the USS Michigan, a nuclear submarine that docked in South Korea in late April.

According to the Times, a senior Trump administration official in Washington, who was not authorized to publicly discuss the call and insisted on anonymity, confirmed the transcript was an accurate representation of the call between the two leaders.

U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, have said Trump discussed intelligence about Islamic State with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak at talks in the Oval Office this month, raising questions about Trump's handling of secrets.

Trump also praised Duterte for doing an "unbelievable job on the drug problem", the New York Times reported, a subject that has drawn much criticism in the West.

Almost 9,000 people, many small-time users and dealers, have been killed in the Philippines since Duterte took office on June 30. Police say about one-third of the victims were shot by officers in self-defense during legitimate operations.

You see, I'm an independent voter. It's easy for me to see that neither side holds the upper hand when it comes to attacking a president, senator or congressman.

What I do see differently this time is that this current administration is off the rails. Kushner, Flynn and Sessions all failed to report meetings with the Russians on their security forms and sessions even bold face lied about it in his confirmation hearings.

While I agree that both sides of the media twist a lot of things to support their agenda, in this case, a lot of what the media is reporting is proving to be accurate and troubling.

I fault the media when they reach or sometimes basically make up a story. What I don't do is criticize them for reporting the news.
