Actually if you read your post, you have 32,000 scientists on your side. Once again cons can't even do basic math, even when it's in front of their face.

Also if a Con could read their own link before posting, they would have found this nugget:

32,000 Sounds Like A Lot
In fact, OISM signatories represent a tiny fraction (~0.3%) of all US science graduates (petition cards were only sent to individuals within the U.S)

According to figures from the US Department of Education Digest of Education Statistics: 2008, 10.6 million science graduates have gained qualifications consistent with the OISM polling criteria since the 1970-71 school year. 32,000 out of 10 million is not a very compelling figure, but a tiny minority - approximately 0.3 per cent.

So .3% of people holding a BSc degree believes that climate change is made up.

These funny cons, they really can't do math.

In all seriousness, it will be those unable to relocate, affected first and the most. Spitballing here, 80% of the worlds population live within 200 miles of a coast.

And that's a fine interpretation. I think when this was all placed in the EE, we could have real discussions. But in PP, everyone is just trying to outfox each other. To be posting in this part as a Con you either need to be a perpetual victim or a master troll. Which is sad, because I think it scared away many of the cons, including you, who actually want to discuss something. However, disingenuous is the name of the forum now. Here you post a 5 year old, wall of poorly formatted numbers about a single city to disprove global warming because ???????? then you follow that up by telling us 32k people with a bachelor of science degree are A) scientists and B) don't believe in global warming like that means anything. A liberal on the forum might make you mad when they correct misinformation with real information. But a Con on this forum will just try to get you to catch your own tail. They don't even want to debate these topics at all. I think that's why libs have stopped posting in this forum a lot. They don't want engage with cons who just want to waste their time.

This should have been thrown out with the garbage when in the mid '90s it was found out that the doom sayers were fudging the numbers to support their claims. Why would we support liars?
Global warming is just another money making scheme for People that have nothing better to do than bother us folks.

It's not being crude. The guy couldn't remember if he knew about the Iran/Contra scandal or not. You just gave a valid reason why he may have had trouble remembering.

And McCain was a POW but Trump doesn't like people who were captured. I mean if you wish to address being crude.

Or..... he was either kept in the dark on purpose or he was told and he was playing politics. Because there has been a whole lot of things Hillary doesn't seem able to recall about how servers ended up where they did, how FBI files ended up behind her office door, whether or not something was classified, etc... and I'm pretty sure she doesn't have Alzheimers.

Save the planet.

Clean up the plastic in our oceans. Stop polluting rivers and streams. Stop unnecessary deforestation, and do burnouts in front of Prius drivers.

It's a safe line for all politicians no matter the party. "I can't recall".

At least you're willing to admit that both parties use that standard line.

Global warming activist and former veep Al Gore likened the battle over climate change to humanity's greatest struggles -- like the fights against slavery, apartheid and nuclear proliferation -- during a speech Thursday in Australia, according to a newly reported transcript.

Yes, the last 50 years of human existence matters so much more than the time period before humans. Especially when you're talking about the viability for humans. Humans have only lived in one age where it was warmer than this and the climate dried up the Sahara forest and humans began emigrating out of Africa. Sounds like a good analogy alrleady. Second, you see a "consistent climate", but don't take in the factors that add into that climate. If the Earth's axis is at 10 degrees, then winters and summers are fairly consistent year round for everyone. At 24 degrees, we see the weather that we currently see at that is our axis now. Also, the Earth did not have natural shade like we do today. Fauna and cloud coverage were not like they are today. Our albedo was about .3 globally and I'm being kind.

Incorrect. The Roman warm period was much warmer than now, and the medieval warm period was warmer than now. I believe you meant flora, not fauna. Our axis has been at 23.5 degRees since there have been people, and for a long time before that too.

I would ask 2 questions

Why is Venus warmer than Mercury, when Mercury is closer to the sun?

How have green companies prospered from Anthropgenic climate change, let's call it circa 1875?

Feh - I was learning about the Ozone and what manmade gases were causing an ozone hole 30+ years ago. What was first thought about global warming as it was then has changed and been refined since then ... the name has changed for one. And there is a lot more study and knowledge now compared to then.

I am not a scientist. I have to rely on those that are and then research and study their conclusions and opinions in order to form my own. Personally I'll run with the 97% of EXPERTS who say man is creating rapid climate change.

https://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-scientific-consensus-intermediate.htm

It's really not very complicated. People can stick your head in the sand and deny or invent your own reality - I can't help you there. A really excellent piece on people relying on their own opinions instead of trusting experts was on radio earlier this year - this seems to replicate it:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/problem-thinking-know-experts/

Basically there is enough fake and false information on the internet that people can feel justified in ignoring the experts and clinging to their personal opinion than be open to an alternative.

LASTLY - invest 5 minutes of your time to watch this short video that imo short and to the point and thorough . . . . Like Einstein said, if you can't explain something simply you don't understand it well enough....

Lol.

Riley, I shall be completely honest with you.

I'm all for reducing carbon footprint and all that fun stuff.....buuuutt, if we just focused on cleaning up plastics and other trash on our planet, and at least didn't dump waste into our waters, I probably wouldn't really care about burning coal in all that too much.

My issue is hat COMBINED with all the waste we have. I feel like that's has a bigger daily impact on our planet than whatever factories are burning. I hate seeing the pictures of dolphins and turtles caught up in plastic and such, or when they have the oil spills that devastate marine life. Heartbreaking, and it makes me want to just denounce all the crap we do sometimes.

I haven't read all the post on here, but has anyone explained how the ozone hole got there? I think it might surprise you. Back in the '50's or early '60's a team of scientist's exploded 2 nuclear bombs in the atmosphere. One so high and the next one at the edge of space, to see what kind of damage might happen. Of course the one at the edge of space was determined to have ripped a hole in the ozone. It is slowly closing over the years, but it is not related to so called "greenhouse gases". I thought this was interesting.

That is interesting but im not that knowledgable on the global warming thing it it would be cool to get to the TRUTH of it and what really may be causing it if the earth is actually in danger, but you should read SWISHES post its really thoughtful and I AGREE WITH HIM.

Spitballing here

Ozone, aka O3 is a natural component of Earth's atmosphere. While understood, there may be natural variations to the ozone layer. CFC's' aka chloro floro carbons were proven to have a detrimental effect to the ozone layer in the 90's

Good perspective with the O3

As world leaders, namely in the European Union, attack President Trump for pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement which would have saddled Americans with billions upon billions of dollars in debt and economic losses, a new bombshell report that analyzed Global Average Surface Temperature (GAST) data produced by NASA, the NOAA and HADLEY proves the President was right on target with his refusal to be a part of the new initiative.

According to the report, which has been peer reviewed by administrators, scientists and researchers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), and several of America’s leading universities, the data is completely bunk:

In this research report, the most important surface data adjustment issues are identified and past changes in the previously reported historical data are quantified. It was found that each new version of GAST has nearly always exhibited a steeper warming linear trend over its entire history. And, it was nearly always accomplished by systematically removing the previously existing cyclical temperature pattern. This was true for all three entities providing GAST data measurement, NOAA, NASA and Hadley CRU.

As a result, this research sought to validate the current estimates of GAST using the best available relevant data. This included the best documented and understood data sets from the U.S. and elsewhere as well as global data from satellites that provide far more extensive global coverage and are not contaminated by bad siting and urbanization impacts. Satellite data integrity also benefits from having cross checks with Balloon data.

The conclusive findings of this research are that the three GAST data sets are not a valid representation of reality. In fact, the magnitude of their historical data adjustments, that removed their cyclical temperature patterns, are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data. Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever –despite current claims of record setting warming.

Finally, since GAST data set validity is a necessary condition for EPA’s GHG/CO2 Endangerment Finding, it too is invalidated by these research findings. (Full Abstract Report)

You climate change zealots can ignore this if you wish, but you're only fooling yourselves.

Why is this data faked, you might ask? Money.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/rendezv...812b-1500298849

IN Al Gore’s latest cinematic dose of climate scaremongering, a young Asian man is crying.

“I feel so scared” he wails, before vision of solicitous uncle Al patting his hand in an attempt to soothe away his fears of the apocalypse.

Scaremongering is what Gore does best, and fear is the business model that has made him rich, though his every apocalyptic scenario has failed to materialise.

In Australia last week to spruik his upcoming movie An Inconvenient Sequel, the former US vice president tried it on again, claiming Mother Nature was “screaming” and the world would descend into “political disruption and chaos and diseases, stronger storms and more destructive floods” unless we buy his snake oil.

Silly Labor premiers bought that snake oil last week, pledging alongside the grinning Gore that Victoria, Queensland, the ACT and South Australia would embrace renewables to produce zero net emissions by 2050.

They haven’t learned the lesson from SA’s extreme green experiment with renewable energy that has produced nothing but crippling blackouts and the highest electricity prices in the world.

Any normal person with such a woeful record of accuracy as Gore would be ashamed to show his face. Eleven years after his Inconvenient Truth movie scared little kids witless, his warnings of climate armageddon have come to nothing.

What does Al Gore and his statements and exaggerations have to do with anything? Because Al Gore said something dumb it means climate change isn't real????
