Not that I wish injuries on anyone, but an ideal situation is a team loses a qb and is ok trading for a dink and dunker. We can get something for Candy.

No way .....Erving is out !!!!!
How is the offense supposed to work on its 2nd and 20 situations without Erving
Now the offense will be just working on its 2nd and 5 situations
Such a blow to the offense vs the Giants
Might as well have Kyrie Irving out there

Went to Camp today (WEDS) for the first time this year-my impressions:

Hot. Short practice, but it was ok with everybody.

Browns running game better than the passing game at this point, but when they did connect on the pass it was for mostly good gains. Based on the way they looked today, the running game is gonna click. We'll see on monday.

I was surprised at how big Kizer looked. He has presence. Even though he missed some passes, he clearly has command of the field, esp. for a rookie. He will start soon in my opinion based only on this practice, of course.

Brock O. also looks like a pro, but his accuracy is nothing like Kizers. He was hesitating too much, i thought.

Kessler and Hogan looked like very good backups.

Dayes had some good cuts and runs.

Njoku is the real deal, he made a cut i couldn't believe after a catch. He looks like he has about 4% body fat

Myles Garrett absolutely pancaked somebody playing at LT eliciting gasps from the crowd.

Stribling looked pretty good, although he still looks like a rookie, being careful.

Kenny Britt looked like a pro. Don't think we will have any problems with him. Corey Coleman seemed like he wanted to play (i have to admit i haven't always thought that, even though he is clearly talented)

Rannel Hall stood out to me in practice. Odd, because he hasn't stood out before to me, maybe it was just this one practice.

As usual: browns camp personnel were helpful, courteous, organized, and informed!

Just remember he was a 3rd round pick...Hues rep should not be based on that quote which it is for some. If we thought he was the amazing QB some portray that quote as saying we would have taken him earlier than the 3rd round.

Thanks for the feedback. Especially on Kenny Britt.

So far most of what i have read wants to treat Britt as Bowe 2.0 ...... I'm not expecting Britt to morph into Mike Evans or even play as well as I expect Pryor to this year. But I am hoping he'll be a legit NFL receiver.... 8-900+ yards and 8+ TDs. I don't expect greatness but he can't be flat out bad either.

Isn't Njoku having catching problems?

When a HC has to implore to a tight end to “hold on to the freakin’ football.” I can hardly classify him has the real deal.

A lot of hand wringing going on because he didn't drag a foot in the first preseason game. I'm still thinking he'll do okay. I've heard good things coming out of camp, and don't see a need to toss him on the trash heap just yet. JMHO

He also dropped a would-be TD pass that him in the hands.

With that said, I am not comparing him to Bowe.

That ball was batted away by the DB .. DB made a nice play getting around Britt's body w/o going through him and committing PI and batting it way ...

The ball barely touched his hands ... he never had a chance to secure it before the DB got it .... it was basically simultaneous contact ...

I'm no fan of Britt's ... no way would i say that was a drop ...

I was pretty Po'ed when I first saw that catch...then I thought how crazy it would've been had he hurt himself getting that last foot down in a meaningless pre-season game - assuming that would have required him to fall down. It's not like he doesn't know what he needs to do there.

That is my hope as well. I don't have any delusions that he will perform as well as Pryor, but I am hoping he can be a reliable target.

Browns Camp Notes: Camp Breaks With A Few Unanswered Questions

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns officially broke camp Thursday afternoon and now their attention shifts to the 19 games that are still on their schedule.

Head coach Hue Jackson feels much better about where his team is than he did a year ago.

“We are physically better than where we were a year ago. We are more mentally tougher. We are stronger,” Jackson said. “For the most part I think we have a good idea of who we are… Now it is just fine tuning some things over the next three weeks through these next three preseason games to get ready for the season.”

Before season No. 2 of the rebuild kicks off under Jackson, several questions still need to be answered.

First and foremost, who will start at quarterback Week 1?

Brock Osweiler appears to be the leader in the clubhouse after having a much better camp than Cody Kessler, who has been essentially demoted to running the scout team, but rookie DeShone Kizer has shown a great deal of progress over the last 3 weeks.

While no decision has been made, Jackson has been firm in that he won’t play Kizer until he’s certain the rookie can handle it.

“It is the raising of a quarterback,” Jackson said. “I don’t think you do things too soon. I think he has to earn the right if he can, and if he can’t, that’s OK. We are just going to keep pushing him and putting him in the right environment to keep getting him where he needs to be.”

ADVERTISING

Which receivers not named Corey Coleman and Kenny Britt will catch passes from whoever the starting QB will be?

“We have to step up there,” Jackson said.

Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton and Rashard Higgins have shown flashes but also are still young and inconsistent. The 3 2016 draft picks appear to be locks to make the team leaving the sixth and final slot up for grabs between Josh Boyce, Rannell Hall, Jordan Leslie, Mario Alford, Richard Mulllaney and Rasheed Bailey.

Who will kick this year? Cody Parkey and rookie Zane Gonzalez have been going back and forth with no clear leader to win the gig and only 1 will survive.

That’s why the next 3 preseason games, which will be played in a span of 11 days starting on Monday are so critical.

“I think those questions will be answered within the next three weeks,” Jackson said. “I think we will be set by the time we hit the regular season. Obviously, the quarterback position is the biggest piece of it all.”

Always is.

Shelton Hurt – Defensive tackle Danny Shelton suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s practice and he will not play Monday night against New York the team said.

“Nothing that I think that is way over the top, but he will be week to week and we will get Danny back as soon as we can,” Jackson said after practice.

On Wednesday it was revealed that offensive linemen Joel Bitonio (knee) and Cameron Erving (calf) suffered injuries Tuesday and would miss time, including the Giants game.

All three players will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis but the team is hopeful that they’ll be ready for Week 1 Sept. 10 against the Steelers.

Injury Report – OL Joel Bitonio (knee), DL Caleb Brantley (shoulder), DB Ibraheim Campbell (concussion), OL Cam Erving (calf), OL Gabe Ikard (concussion), DL Cam Johnson (knee), DB Ed Reynolds II (knee), DL Danny Shelton (knee) and DB Howard Wilson (knee-PUP). Crowell/Orchard

Some games Pryor was a non factor.
He was anything but consistent imo.

Pryor had 77 catches or so and over 1,000 yards while drawing bracket coverage for most of the year and playing w/QBs who were not very good.

Kinda hard to knock what he gave us. He was one of the few bright spots on the team.

They where good numbers, but there where some games that I thought he looked overwhelmed and not totally focused. It will be interesting to see how his career proceeds just the same.

We all have our opinions.

I never cared for Pryor because of what he did at Ohio State, but I think the guy played very hard and is an intense competitor. I don't agree w/you about him not being focused or overwhelmed.

Again, he was bracketed by most teams starting w/the New England game.

My bottom line is that we are a worse team w/out him.

Source: the expectation is that Browns DL Danny Shelton’s knee injury will require a recovery of 3-6 weeks.

Dude might be out for 3-6 weeks, but posting the same information from the original source by other sources does not make it more true.

I'm hoping Shelton's injury is closer to the 3 weeks than the 6 ... don't start now injury bug

Snaps probably will go to Coley. But all I know is it's a knee injury. Hue Jackson first said he's week to week, but there's this "report" saying upwards to six weeks. Who knows.

So, maybe he starts the season as one of them "IR: Designated to Return" guys, and we get some youngsters some playing time that might otherwise be a forced cut when we go down to 53?

Any news from Njoku?

Who's going to be our TE this season?

Gary's release is looking like a premature foolish decision by this FO...

Njoku should play Monday, so we'll see what he looks like. Telfair has had a solid camp and Devalve is obviously a better WR.

In terms of Gary Barnidge, I'd agree but the fact that he hasn't been signed by anyone else might be an indicator of something

I hope he does not play... Give him time...

Although I think he will be a bust, I honestly want him to pan-out ,so if he has problems, let him get some more practice and improve his play.

Playing him would be a bad decision....

If Gary's release was a mistake we can still sign him. He is available, no one has signed him. No one.
