Where's the fire and fury?

When I woke up this morning and checked twitter, I was shocked to see that Trump hadn't retaliated.

Yeah, I mean Kim shot off another missile. I expected a twitter bomb in response. I think that's what Trump meant by fire and fury. But so far nothing.

He shot off a missile over the airspace of another country. That's not just a missile test. That's provocation.

I half expected to wake up this morning to news of an airstrike against N Korea or something.

I agree that this is extreme provocation. My point is that there is no good option here. With both S. Korea and Japan right in N. Koreas cross hairs, there is no real option to attack N. Korea.

I mean Trump can threaten, "Fire and fury like the world has never seen", but in fact, saying that is no less silly than Obama's. "red line" in Syria. You can rattle sabres all you like, but in the end you have to measure the logistics and the human cost in what you're doing.

It is a no-win situation.

Although at this point, I wouldn't be mad if there was a little black ops unit that could introduce the Glorious Leader over there to a high caliber bullet.

The only viable military response is utter annihilation of at least the hierarchy of NK if not most or all military targets. You can not accomplish that with a single strike or in a very short time frame.

Missile defense in SK and Japan should be in place, but if he's going to start firing 'over' them, when do we use those defenses? That missile should have been shot down before it got over Japan last night.

China says it will not protect him but Bannon telling the press that there is no military option really hurt Trump and Companies bluff.

Scary stuff.

I don't think we should use nukes on NK unless they launch one. That said, I think the strongest attack we could make would be many high altitude moabs in multiple rapid sortes. Don't see that happening because it leaves our allies too vulnerable to his nukes.

And that's the issue. We could defeat NK fairly quickly, but we cannot protect our allies if we do and we can not risk China or Russia getting involved.

If you're Japan, you don't really have a choice.

If you attack NK, you just started WW3 without the blessing of anybody, but now SK and US are forced to join. Also, attacking then will obviously have china entering the game. China has been looking for any reason to run up in Japan's crib. Attacking NK gives that option. I could see China borderline ignoring the bombing in NK and send the bulk of their military right on ever to Japan.

Millions would die before we even had a chance to send a huge surge over to Southeast Asia, and that's not even taking into account the threat of NK dropping a nuke once that happens.

I think thats what will happen then. We are gonna get dragged into this.

One of our Nuke subs can turn NK to glass before Kim can shout "Oh Crap!".

This will leave China to decide if they want to die too, over a piece of glass. They won't.

Trump will offer them a port in Mississippi and we will all be friends again.

Mattis and tillerson really need to push for a sit down with fat boy. This is gonna be extremely difficult, but there has to be some sort of deal we can cut in order to avoid the casualties that won't be seen since WW2.

It would be nice for the deal maker to step up. If trump could nail this diplomatically, he's getting a 2nd term and I won't even bitch about it.

Again, if Japan or any of our allies strikes first, it won't matter how quick we respond....it's gonna be devastating on all sides.

NK has the artillery to completely level Seoul without nukes, and we don't have much to stop it.

Make no mistake, I believe the US, with the help of our allies, would ultimately come out on top. The question has ALWAYS been this: is the death toll worth it?

The article says that retaliating for a missile hitting Japan would trigger an all out world war with China coming to the defense of NK. I'm not so sure China would defend the chubby kid if he actually shot a missile directly at Japan.

IMO NK, Russia, and China are hoping we or Japan shoots one of these decoys out of the air to get Intel on defense capabilities. I'm pretty sure we know if these NK missiles are armed or not.
