It took the Gov. of Texas until Monday to call up the Texas National Guard.

On Monday, Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott (R) announced he was ordering the entire Texas National Guard — about 12,000 troops — to assist those affected by the storm
Thirty-nine helicopters and seven planes are spread between operating bases in Houston and New Orleans, according to a tweet by the service. The Coast Guard’s primary helicopters are the MH-60T Jayhawk, a Black Hawk variant, and the MH-65 Dolphin. Its primary cargo aircraft is the four-engine C-130.
"The Virginian-Pilot reported Monday that the Navy will begin preparing the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge and the landing ship USS Oak Hill for operations to support Harvey rescue efforts."
Note: the USS Kearsarge was on patrol in the Atlantic, and stopped in Virginia to load up on fuel, water, food, and supplies before it sailed to the Gulf.
Trump has pledged $1 million to Harvey relief, White House says
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the president pledged $1 million of his own money to Harvey relief efforts.
She says Trump is seeking advice from reporters about where he should donate money.
President Donald Trump has pledged $1 million of his own money to Harvey relief efforts, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Thursday.
She said Trump has not decided which organization he will donate to. The spokeswoman said Trump specifically told Sanders to ask journalists at the briefing for suggestions since they have been reporting on groups and their relief efforts.
"As I said, he'll pledge proudly $1 million of his own personal money to help the people of both Texas and Louisiana," Sanders said.
Trump donated his first two quarters' worth of presidential pay to government agencies. He gave his first installment to the National Park Service and his second to the Department of Education.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump will travel to Texas and Louisiana on Saturday, Sanders said. The two visited Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday. Vice President Mike Pence toured damage in Rockport, Texas, on Thursday.
The details of the Trumps' next trip are still being finalized, Sanders said. The tentative plan is for the first couple to travel to Houston, Texas, and Lake Charles, Louisiana, she said.
Once he makes the donation, Trump will join a long list of donors who have promised at least $1 million to relief efforts. The Abbvie Foundation has committed $1 million in funding. The Allstate Foundation has pledged $1.55 million to relief and is matching employee and agency owner contributions.
Vizient has announced a $1 million donation raised from the company and employees to help hospital workers. Houston-based Reliant donated more than $2 million for relief efforts.
J.J. Watt, star defensive lineman for the Houston Texans, has raised $10 million.
She actually said his "personal money". Now let's see if it ends up being his "personal money" or money from his foundation. If he lives up to that pledge, God bless him.

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that President Trump would donate $1 million of his “personal money” to Hurricane Harvey victims. But on Friday, she wasn’t so sure.
Asked by a reporter if she knew whether Trump’s donation would be “coming from his own money or from the Trump Foundation,” Sanders dodged.
“I haven’t had a chance to do that,” she said, suggesting she hadn’t yet had a chance to ask the president where the money would be coming from.
Follow Kyle Griffin ✔ @kylegriffin1 Sanders still hasn't found out if Trump's $1MIL donation to Harvey victims will be a personal donation or come from his foundation (via CBS) 3:41 PM - Sep 1, 2017 747 747 Replies 2,217 2,217 Retweets 3,168 3,168 likes Twitter Ads info and privacy During the campaign, reporting by the Washington Post’s David Fahrenthold and others demonstrated that Trump treated his foundation — which he hadn’t personally donated to since 2008 — like a personal expense account. Trump was also shown to have repeatedly exaggerated his giving.
As ThinkProgress detailed in September:
Though tax laws say 501(c)(3) charitable foundations may not be used to make political donations or for “self-dealing,” the Trump foundation reportedly did both. The foundation paid a $2,500 penalty for an improper $25,000 gift in 2013 to a committee supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R), who was considering an investigation of his Trump University at the time and later opted not to open one.
Additionally, Fahrenthold found that Trump used more than $250,000 of the money raised by the his foundation to settle legal problems for his myriad business interests. Additionally, he used $10,000 of foundation money to buy a portrait of himself at a charity fundraiser, $20,000 from the Trump Foundation to buy a different portrait of himself, and $12,000 from the tax-exempt foundation to buy an autographed Tim Tebow football helmet. A $5,000 foundation donation to the D.C. Preservation League Tax was used to obtain ad space for Trump hotels. Experts told the Post that these payments would appear to be “classic self-dealing,” in violation of tax law and philanthropic conventions.
The Smoking Gun dubbed Trump “The .00013% Man” for his “paltry” charitable giving. During Trump’s Apprentice days, donations he claimed would be coming out of his own pocket were in fact made by his foundation.
If Trump does indeed donate his “personal money” to Harvey victims, it’d represent a break from the pattern he established since the time of his last donation to the Trump Foundation in 2008. As Fahrenthold reported just days before the election, Trump’s “personal giving has almost disappeared entirely in recent years.”
“After calling 420-plus charities with some connection to Trump, The Post found only one personal gift from Trump between 2008 and the spring of this year,” Fahrenthold added. “That was a gift to the Police Athletic League of New York City, in 2009. It was worth less than $10,000.”
And even if Trump does donate $1 million of personal wealth, his contribution represents a pittance in relation to the drastic cuts he’s proposing in environmental and disaster relief programs.
Those cuts, which will be considered this month as Congress tries to set a budget, include an $876 million cut in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster relief account, a $200 million cut to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration programs that help coastal states brace for future storms, and a $2.6 billion cut to the Environmental Protection Agency, among others.

Priorities, I guess.

I was actually surprised DT didn't offer more based on his wealth claims.

While I commend your donation as well (assuming you are telling the truth), I think it's rather sad that you expect ever more massive donations based on someone's wealth.
Maybe you should condemn the billionaire NFL owners who only (only?) donated a million dollars themselves. Nah, forget that. Just accept that represents a huge donation even if it's only a fraction of a percent of their total wealth.

Surprised it is taking you so long to get an answer! It usually rolls right off the tongue when a Socialist is asked about spending other peoples money.
What would have been the minimum acceptable donation, in your opinion?
He could give back to the U.S.A. $10-25 million for security and travel expenses for Trump tower, his golf resort, T Jr and other family members take advantage of, at the cost of US tax payers.

In his defense he knew he was full of crap with the birther garbage. He could have put up a reward of 'eleventy billion dollars' because he knew full well he'd never have to part with it.
It'd be like me saying I'll give the first person that brings me a live fish that has a monkey's face eighty kazillion dollars. It doesn't exist. My money is safe.
What would have been the minimum acceptable donation, in your opinion?
I don't know. All I know is that for a guy who likes to "wow" people by saying how rich he is, there is certainly no "wow" factor for how much he's actually willing to help others.
Don't get me wrong, a million bucks is great. Just not for someone who runs his loud mouth about how wealthy he is.

Only on DawgTalkers is a million dollar donation a bad thing.
Yeah because we know it's chump change for him and he's spending 10X more of our tax dollars for security and travel for all his family running around doing Trump biz on the govt teat.

That's my money, not his. At least that is the response you would have given if it wasn't Trump that did it.
Is he going to get $14 billion more for Florida? Is he going to get $10 billion more for the fires in the northwest?
I do believe the 14 is for Texas and refunding FEMA for Florida. It is not your money, it is OUR money and I would never deny them that. Think of the Children.
