I'm not calling for either to be fired either.

But mark it down......there will be those who will call for Hue to be fired when the team doesn't live up to their expectations.

Pointing out bad calls in response to a question as to why a guy would gets fired is an example of that. A better one is saying he should be fired if we are 2 and 5 at the bye.

This team is inexperienced. It has huge holes in some important spots:

QB
WR
CB
S

They lost their depth on the OL.

People are trotting out we are going to win 6, 7, 8, 9 games. Meanwhile, most people who analyze these things for a living, have the Browns ranked 30th out of 32 teams.

So, what happens when the team lives up to expectations of those w/an objective opinion and fail to live up to the expectations of those w/a subjective opinion?

I am all for keeping Hue.

I am all for keeping Sashi.

I want continuity.

I have pretty good instincts and they tell me that Hue will be the fall guy rather than Sashi. I said something very similar last year when I said Horton would be the guy who got the blame and would be the first one fired.

Like I said awhile ago........I knew you and Diam would be leading this dumb-ass crusade.

It is amazing at how Hue went from a great OC to a horrible one after leaving the Bengals.

You guys make me laugh.

I never said that. You need to consider that there have been multiple great coordinators to get head coaching jobs to not do well in that position.

I have already said that Hue isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I don't think we just win 1-2 games this year. I don't see any reason why we should be 2-5 heading in to next years bye week...adjust the record depending on when we actually get the bye.

I know you don't like to see coaches fired. Nor do I. I just understand that almost always, the coach goes before the GM. I am not going to debate the merits of that because there is no point in doing so. It is what it is.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

MONEYBALL...

Hue is the first HC to endure a moneyball management system that is under the control of two inexperienced individuals and an owner who sees himself as a "hands on" owner. Hue is not in charge of personnel and does not have control of the 53 man roster.

Hue Jackson is also asked to play the role of the "good soldier", showing support for the moneyball system, accepting responsibility for some questionable transactions that were made by others, providing cover for the front office.

On top of all that...Hue is expected to coach the Browns with the talent provided..and everyone expects him to WIN with that talent.

This is what Hue faced in his first season and if the results are a reflection upon the Browns new "moneyball approach"..I find it difficult to lay blame on the HC for the 1-15 record.

Yes, Hue made some coaching mistakes in his 1st season, but when we look at the entire picture of how the franchise operated in year 1 of moneyball, his mistakes are such a small part of the overall plan and certainly not worthy of a serious discussion about firing the HC.

To Hue's credit, his players "never quit"...even though their lone win didn't come until Christmas Eve.

Now that Hue is in the 2nd year of moneyball, it appears that Hue is focused on the part of the equation he is in control of.

Haslam would be an idiot to fire anyone based on just 2 years in the present system. I do hope there is full and honest review after this season and to make changes in the Moneyball approach, to make it better.

Nope. The bottom line in the NFL is so high it's ridiculous to even fathom and has little to do with success of a team on the field. True fans stick it out thru thick and thin and only winning makes the their teams better. It might be just a business to the owners but it's all about loyalty with fans. True fans will always pay good money to see their teams play win or lose. All the other fans are just living in fantasy league land and only truly care about their fantasy league stats.

Hue should be about winning. He feels really good about his defense that was intimidating this preseason and gave up a single td in 4 games.

Hue has a QB with a cannon arm, tremendous size combined with intelligence and he can also run the football. He has 3 good running backs. He has on paper atleast what should be a top 10 offensive line. He has 3 pretty good tightends and a 1st round receiver that's building a relationship with his stud QB.

This team was very competitive last year with horrible QB play. Horrible OL play. Mass confusion on defense. If we are as competitive as we were last year, we will win 5 or 6 games just based on a much easier schedule.

I like this team and the team speed. I didn't like the speed at receiver, we trade for Coates. We also got Kasen Williams who is a perfect fit for Kizer.

Speed wins and this is a fast back 7. This is a long lanky disruptive front 7. I disagree with quiet a few things this front office has done but I see them attempting to correct mistakes they made from a year ago.

I know I will get laughed at but I see a 7 plus win team based on a very very weak schedule and the improvements we have made especially at DC.

I know its just preseason which most definitely does not run parallel with the Regular season. But fact is We did something we haven't done since 1986. Win them all.

Season after season my hopes would be high but I would squint and see those hopes evaporate after the preseason and we would get dominated.

This year I see a difference and lets just forget the W/L column of preseason. The football we are playing is different then any other we played since our rebirth of 1999. I know its cool to SAY we suck and then go around to all and say SEE Told you so.

I do see a difference - have no clue on predictions. The spectrum is wide. Injuries will play a big role as always.

I like our team speed. I like our tackling. I like the fact we will be able to stretch the field vertical with our Rookie QB and WRs. I like the veteran OL and our YOUNG DL. What I do know we are nobodies patsy this year. We will wins games that nobody thinks we have a shot.

I could be wrong but the experts had us as the underdog every preseason game (not sure of the Bears game) - how'd that turnout.
We know they heavily utilized 2016 records and stats in their predictions. I expect all to have us low this year. They are Bozo's.

While what you say is true, the fans really have no say in the hirings and firings of our FO and coaching staffs. The NFL is nothing more than a multi billion dollar corporation. As such, accountability is expected at all levels. And usually, if things aren't going well, people get fired. Usually in an attempt to find a fall guy for those in positions of higher power.

IMO that's why Peens comment about HC's being fired before GM's usually holds true. There have been exceptions with some very good HC's but that's most often not the case.

And while I agree we are loyal fans, can you think of another example where that applies? Other than sports, would you continue to endorse and purchase a product that continued to fail you? A product that didn't work? A brand that performed much more poorly than many other brands you could purchase at an equal price? Some people just get fed up with a poor product. We here on this board seem like a gluten for punishment, but not everyone will share our view.

I don't believe they should even evaluate Hue until after year three and even then they should consider the talent level early in his tenure. But I think we should all remember, fans don't get a vote in this and corporations are result orientated.

For the Browns to win 7 games or more Kizer would have to play at a high level with his TD to int ratio 2 to 1.
The defense would have to be a rock wall in the red zone
And overall the team would have very little margin of error in every game excluding the Jets or Colts

Look pal if you want to keep paying for one of the most horribly run sports team you can.
Then you accuse me of being disloyal and a fantasy F.B. player\fan wow what an imagination .
Actually the BROWNS are the disloyal culprits by using the fan loyalty by throwing last years season and probably this one also so if you want to be loyal to this sham be my guest.

Because we are Browns fans and study the team daily x 365 it is easy to view the team through blinders.

The blinder view can cut both ways; all negative, all positive.

At the same time we can look as outsiders at other teams and not have a accurate picture.

As the new season is about to begin I really believe the view of the Browns is mostly wrong.

Yeah we were 4-0 in pre-season. Most look at that and say "so what". I say this is what; the defense played very well.

I agree with you EO I see a difference in this team. Last year I thought we would be lucky to win a game. This team is much different.

There has been a talent upgrade. In addition now in the second year some of last years rookies are playing better.

Schobert has caught my attention. Boddy-Calhoun is a instinctive player with a nose for the ball.

Coleman has looked liked what he was supposed to look like; a first round talent.

Kirksey, and Collins are strong veterans well suited to play for Williams.

Garrett and Peppers are big adds to this roster. I expect both to make major contributions.

And now the big attraction Deshone Kizer. I applaud Hue in starting Kizer. It would have been easy to start Osweiler (the veteran) and put Kizer on the bench. The pure truth is Kizer stole the job. He outplayed the other guys.

Hue is all in with Kizer. Of course he will make mistakes but even with his mistakes he is the best guy to start. He has the ability to make big plays. He can throw to any place on the field. He can move in the pocket and avoid the rush. He can throw on the run. He will make mistakes in reading coverage. But he will make throws the other guys could only dream of.

The 2017 Browns are not what we have had in the past.

I don't know how many games we will win but I agree we will no longer be the "soft spot" on other teams schedules.

I believe that it's important to remember that in only one pre season game did our starters play one half of football. They also played against vanilla O's. Is our D improved? Yes, I believe that it is.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. They won't play game day O's until the season begins. And if Kizer and our running game can't mount sustained drives, our D could be pretty winded by the fourth quarter.

One thing I've learned over the decades. Being in the middle of a situation makes it much harder to be objective. Most objectivity comes from the outside looking in.

I think this is an example of how delusional we are as Browns fans.

Not just 'oholic but all of us.

We're just beat.

Obviously if the Browns were to go 0-16 this year, Hue Jackson would be deemed by anyone an incompetent NFL coach.

Personally I think he's already proved it.

I will gladly eat my words - with sugar on top - if I'm wrong.

I hope Hue keeps the game plan simple on offense.

Judging from last year I don't think he will. He's going to put Kiser in a bunch of second and third and longs because he's going to call long balls all day on 1st and 10. The Browns will stand no chance in those circumstances.

The biggest thing I would like to see in this game is a patient game plan on O. I would like to see Hue demonstrate some patience.

rookie on one side, new hire Haden on the other, I would still come out pounding and then taking my shots deep but I think Hue may come out spread wide and attacking this secondary. Test his big money OL out against this group.

There is one problem with that though...record.

We are 2-3 injuries away(well two now that Garret is hurt) from maybe not winning a game this year...i said there is no way we go 0-16 if we are healthy...we already lost possibly our best player before the season.

If Sashi Brown, Hue and Compnay don't win atleast 5-6 games this year...there is no way they are safe...can'
t be.

If we go 2-14 this year that means we are 3-29 over two seasons...NO REGIME in the NFL survives that kinda record over two seasons. Its not going to happen...

I really want to say we do well this year, my heart definitely wants that, but my head tells me we will be lucky to win 2-3 games and thats counting on no more major injuries.

Its clear to me Sashi doesn't know what he is doing, and both Sashi and Depodesta need to be sacked and removed from Berea.

I keep Jackson I think he is a good coach, but he needs more input into player personnel decisions, and he needs to paired with an experienced football executive that will get him players that fit his system.

Trubisky was the PERFECT QB for Hue's System...Hue will never say this openly, but thats who he wanted instead of Garret...all the rumors coming out of berea of them split between Garret and Trubisky....Hue def wanted Trubs...I could see the disappointment on his face on draft day a few minutes after Garret was picked, could tell he was dissapointed, but he held it together. Jackson will never say he didn't want Garret, he can't say that...atleast not until he is no longer the Browns coach.

This Front Office has really screwed the pooch. I would have canned Sashi and Depodesta after last year and kept Hue and asked him who he wanted as a GM and then went from there.

Look at Cincy, Marvin Lewis has BIG time input on who they draft...Jackson needs the same level of input here...I don't trust Business lawyer, and Mr. Baseball to get things right. I trust Hue Jackson far more then these clowns we have in the front office.

Regardless of who wanted who.

Lets hope we can atleast win 5-6 games this year. Because if we can't...there is a good chance Haslam hits the reset button.

like a 2-14 season...that would mean Hue, and Sashi are 3-29 over two years...thats beyond miserable...no one survives that kinda record over two years in the NFL

Winning 5-6 games shows Haslam that the system can work, it actually gives him a reason to continue on the course...but another 1-2 win season...i don't think he can swallow that.

Honestly. im tired of starting over, but you also have to pull the plug when you know something isn't working and 3-29 or 4-28 over two years is NOT working obviously...You will drive your paying fans away sticking with something like that.

So this is the year hue and Sashi have to show Haslam a little bit of progress, not asking to win the division, not even asking for a winning record, just show us you can win 5-6 games..thats it...if Mangini, Crennell, even Pat Shurmur can win 5 games, then these guys can, and if they can't, then they don't belong in the NFL in the first place.

they have tore down most of the roster, these are their guys...its time now to show that the "plan" is going in some positive direction.

This owner and his front office have just about completed the tear down, jettisoning most of the roster, replacing someone else's players with "THEIR" guys.

While I agree that this team should be expected to win more than 2 or 3 games in 2017, I seriously doubt that Haslam would make any changes unless their was a major disagreement between the coaching staff and the front office concerning who has authority over the roster.

I ask myself this question concerning every move this front office makes...WHAT WOULD HUE JACKSON DO if he had authority over the Browns roster?

We might find out to answer that question after this season, but for now, let's play MONEYBALL...

go Browns!

like a 2-14 season...that would mean Hue, and Sashi are 3-29 over two years...thats beyond miserable...no one survives that kinda record over two years in the NFL

Right now We are shaking the tree to see who can hang and who is gonna face plant but this team fights. they fought hard every game last year. We probably outplayed pittsburg. Doesn't mean we will win a single game this year however.

The potential is there to be fighting for a playoff spot come December. the schedule is the easiest we have had in the last decade. The reality is however, we don't knowhow to win in games when we out play the opponent on both sides of the ball. Just as likely to be 1-15 again as we are to be 15-1.

We beat the Ravens this week and its a signature win. We beat the Ravens this week and it could be the start of a 6 game Win streak. That confidence would propel this young team. Just like a loss could send us down that road to what everyone thinks we will be.

I think regardless of record, these guys will get a full 5 years. They tore it down to the studs, I think we have it going in the right direction, we have a ton of assets and cap. I think they get a full 5 years to build it. There might be tweaks to the staff, like an O coordinator for instance. But I think they will be intact for the duration.

I think they will get five years if steady improvement is shown. I do not however feel that a billion dollar plus corporation will sit still for stagnation or regression at any point.

As fans we all build a sense of loyalty to coaches and players. We understand that stability is needed to build a winning team. However, business is business and with Haslam, if we look at his business model, Pilot Flying J, much of what he's done in his career has been marketing with a steady diet of turnover.

There will be expectations, and being stagnant or regressing at any point isn't going to be one of them.

According to the well-connected Miller, “that’s definitely an opinion shared around the NFL, that [Jackson] is done,” with the prevailing belief being that Jackson will head back to the Cincinnati Bengals after his Cleveland tenure comes to an end.

Click the link. The whole interview is depressing. Matt Miller is pretty well connected.

I've hung in there through a lot of things with this team. But if Haslam proves to me that he lacks any patience with letting any FO and coaching staff panning out together, I just don't know.
