Hue Jackson has been doing his part, covering for the front office whenever the media begins to question some of the Browns personnel moves.

Some might still believe that Hue preferred Kessler over Dak Prescott...based on Hue stepping up taking responsibility for the pick. Kessler is a member of the Browns based on "analytics".

Hue prefers QBs who are big, mobile and a strong arm with the ability to throw deep....is Kessler that type of QB?

Jackson is doing allot to make the front office look good,
playing his part, providing cover for the MONEYBALLERS.

I guess I didn't watch the same game the rest of you did. The only time I thought Haden really looked beat. .. he was in underneath zone with the safety over the top. I barely heard his name called. .. thats not a bad thing in my book. 6 tackles, a pass defended and a sack. .. not beat deep. .. no Tds to his man. ..

As much as many here are happy he is gone. .. the Steelers are happy he is there. ... at least for week one anyway

They're just looking for excuses to uphold every move this FO makes. Nothing new.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I hoped we would target Haden more - but for Kizers first game I am sure he isn't as savvy as Big Ben (I think Ben targeted our LBs in coverage - especially shobert)

Not meant as trash talk - but for your secondary I thought he fit it in (it's nice that we have a couple of personal groups that are as good or better than yours)

Division is the goal and you are the class of AFCN - congrats on a good game (both teams looked good)

Do you have any opinion on the steelers 5 personal fouls? The ones wherein they lead with the crown of the helmet?

Heck, even Vontaze Burfict tweeted about those. If the king of cheap shots is calling out the steelers for cheap shots, might they be cheap shots? (oh well, no one was hurt, and they helped the Browns)

And Ben? After the interception? Hilarious dive......then the ankle grab? I bet the film session will be howling!

How many tackles did he have bringing down the guy who had just beaten him? That was his MO as a Brown. Rookie QB and crazy green receivers but JH still allowed a 100+ QB rating against himself.

It'll be interesting to see how he plays this year. However, there is a reason why fan's who've watched him every game for years are perfectly ok with him being released.

I agree w/you.

Many of the more vocal posters on this board make stuff up all the time in an attempt to shield the FO from any criticism.

I gave my honest take about Joe to you. He's physical, lacking a little speed, struggles w/quicker receivers, plays well against bigger receivers, has a very good vertical, is too handsy, and is a good tackler.

Honesty isn't real big around here the past few years. It becomes almost unreadable at times.

I would imagine his PFF numbers would be horrible. I give the guy a ton of credit for doing what was asked of him though.

"He did indicate, however, that he felt Jackson would've like to keep him.

"Some decisions aren't held with the coach,'' he said. "Me and the coach, we had a really good relationship, but some stuff is over his head.''"

maybe but i doubt anyone jumped the gun..

--------------

"This is the time of year where everything starts happening," Jackson said when asked about the report. "Things start getting said. Obviously, I don't know that. But we'll deal with those things as we move forward."

Jackson deferred other questions about Haden to Sashi Brown, the team's executive vice president of football operations.

"I trust Sashi and his group to make the right decisions that I think is best for our football team," Jackson said. "Do I want Joe Haden on our football team? Yes, but whatever our organization thinks is best for our football team, that's what we'll do."

It's hilarious at how many people still dog JLC. He was the one who wrote about the Browns trying to trade Haden in the first place. He is the one who wrote about Shanny wanting to leave. He is the one who wrote about the dysfunction in the organization when Farmer was here. He has been right over and over again.

Yet, posters still act like he has no cred. LMAO.........

I'm not sure if this applies to most people, but it only takes being proven a thief and a liar once for me.

I remember La Cornholio reporting that not only were the Bills hiring Anthony Lynn as their head coach, but were going to hire Gus Bradley as the defensive coordinator right before the Bills announced Sean McDermott as well.

Some people cling to liars when they are saying what they really want to hear.

I'll wait until I see any respectable sports reporter confirm before I believe anything La Cornholio says.

Not saying I am happy he is gone, but had Kizer been more accurate and not overthrown a couple of those deep balls, Haden would have been the victim. He was beat deep multiple times but the throw was not there, I was at the game.

I didn't ignore it, Rish.

I respect Cap. The only thing I will question is that I saw Pitt in some zone coverage, where Haden had the underneath coverage and the safety was late over the top. From the stands, I can see how many would think that Haden was burned in one-on-one coverage.

Now, I'm sure you will either ignore what I saw or outright challenge it.

Also, I noticed that you ignored what Taylor's rating was from PFF. Why is that?

I wouldn't ignore what you saw. I would consider it just like I am now. I just believe it to be insincere to beat a drum so loudly because you've dug your heels in so tightly and ignore a viewpoint that is opposite of your own. That doesn't strike me as being objective.

What's the story on Taylor? Why would you expect me to comment on that?

Okay Rish..........I am not objective. Fine.

Taylor was ranked 78th by PFF, far worse than Haden, yet you ignore that. I guess that makes you the objective one?

Wasn't Haden's score bad as well? So they were both bad according to the grades? Again, what's your point? What does Taylor have to do with Haden?

Yep, I think Haden was 51st. Not exactly sure, but somewhere around there.

What does it have to do w/it? Uhhmmmmm...........you are acting like our corners are better than Haden, you dog Haden due to Cap's report, but ignore PFF's grades.

Look, I don't put much stock into PFF's grades on DBs, but it kinda irks me that you are acting like I am not objective.

I am more objective than just about anyone on here. I knock them for moves I disagree with and praise them for moves I agree with. I am never "one-sided."

And I'm going to tell you something, if you don't take that comment back.........you and I are done! You will be in the group of WSU, Memphis, and eotab.

To be objective, look at who they were covering. Brown and Bryant vs Coleman and Britt. It's not even close.

Putting aside what Jimmy did or didn't do, those trucking company owners are about as blue collar as is a guy who owns a few gas stations.

What kind of coverage was Haden in when Kasen Williams caught that sideline throw out of bounds? IIRC, he was beaten pretty bad on that play...now, if he was in zone and making up for the safety being out of position, that's a whole different animal.

I'm curious because I remember the play, but didn't see who was in coverage that well. I did see some reports talking about how Haden was beaten on that play, but couldn't confirm one way or the other.

Browns picked on Joe Haden in coverage and it worked

By Jeff Risdon 13 hours ago

One of the big storylines entering Sunday’s opener between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers was cornerback Joe Haden facing his old team. The Browns cut Haden just last week, and the veteran scrambled to Pittsburgh to bolster their secondary.

If the first game is any indication, the Browns were smart to let him go. The Cleveland offense repeatedly targeted Haden in coverage, with rookie QB DeShone Kizer finding his best success while picking on his former teammate.

One of those misses was a deep throw to Duke Johnson where the Browns receiver had a good 3 yards on Haden after running right past him up the right sideline. A better throw from Kizer there adds at least 25 more yards to Haden’s tally.

The Steelers might have given newcomer Haden the game ball after the 21-18 win, but that was strictly for sentimental purposes. He was Pittsburgh’s biggest liability in pass defense.

I posted earlier that I thought JH could still have helped us this season but after reading about how he played maybe the FO was right in asking him to take a pay cut and then letting him go. Well it's just one game let's see how the season plays out.
