Well, as long as the cop did his/her job correctly, by some standards on here, he/she should be jumping for joy.

But what defines correctly is always subject to how people feel... so even if I had an end zone dance prepared, I'd always look awkward waiting to see if I was a good boy that day or not.

I stand by what I said earlier...

the NFL needs more jazz hands

And that's fine. I'm not judging.........just stating my opinion. I'm allowed that, right?

I would love to share some info about my daughter, but I know one person that has told me he doesn't want to hear any personal stories.

I prefer people do what they are expected to do, and not celebrate when they do that. That's just me.

Yeah being a show off and a "me, me, me" person is what gets people elected these days so I shouldn't be surprised people approve of it.

I love the sport but the spoiled millionaires look like fools. At least a few of them were smart enough to be on dancing with the stars. Where are all the class acts like Walter Payton? Heck, even Peyton Manning. Class is becoming a lost art and people applaud it.

There's no accounting for taste.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'm supposed to be a robot at my work. But then I do see how it might look bad if after a big arrest cops started shooting off celebration rounds in the air, or doing some Top Gun beach volleyball "Playin with the Boys" High 5'n, or even just giving each other a smack on the arse and a "Good Game".

I think the real problem with NFL celebratory flaunting is that there isn't enough sass. It needs more jazz hands and I think an acceptable 2 pt conversion alternative would be a dance off. If that happened Victor Cruz would be a crazy steal on any Fantasy team for his mad Cha Cha skillz.

Arch that should be in purple

Why are you asking my permission? Get down with your bad self. My only point was that the group definition of a cop doing a good job is rather fickle.

I agree, I prefer people go about their business as if it were any other day. It's why Barry Sanders was my favorite professional athlete and still is to this day. In an interview he did he was asked about this very topic. The interviewer pointed out all these end zone celebrations and described them as the exclamation point to their sentence. He pointed out Barry never did that even after one of his many amazing runs.

Barry's reply (I paraphrase) "Well, the touchdown was just the period".

See, this is where I have a hard time reconciling.. yes, I want the players to play like they care.. but when you can go give a big smiling hug and a pat on the back after the game to the guy who just danced in your face.. I have to wonder how much they really "care".. I know they want to win but the celebrations seem to be far more geared toward "look at me" or "I want to be on Sportscenter" than just being happy you made a play or scored a TD...

Did Prince Njoku have a cool touchdown choreography in yesterday's 5th consecutive loss?

That’s cool. That’s real entertainment.

So answer me this.

I think that if a Major League baseball player hit a walk-off home run, and as they stepped on home plate started doing a choreographed celebration geared for the opposing team:

1) There would be a bench clearing brawl
2) The offending player would be severely punished.

Do you agree?

Or do you think everyone would laugh and a good time would be had by all?

That's the big difference. "Geared for the opposing team" is taunting, and is punished even in current NFL rules.

Doing a semi-coordinated celebration, such as dousing the game winning hitter with water and powder, tearing his jersey off, and slapping him on the head ... is what the Indians do every time they win in walk-off fashion. And nobody seems to have a problem with it.

The game is over. Just a team celebrating a win at that point.

You probably made your message cloudy by making your hypothetical a walk-off...

Probably would work better if it was a guy scoring from second on a base hit in the bottom of the 3rd in a 4-2 game.. then stepping on the plate and doing a 20 second choreographed dance..

I do not think there would be an immediate bench clearing brawl, but when he came up again in the 5th, he better be light on his feet because a 5.25 ounce sphere is going to be travelling at 90+ mph right at his chin.... then there would be a bench clearing brawl. tongue
