Systemic racism in this country is a conspiracy theory. You guys have had several years now to back up your claims with facts, and you still haven't. The best thing you can come up with is how you "feel".

This whole kneeling thing has had everyone's attention for a year now, yet somehow not a single one of these players has done a single thing to advance the conversation beyond 'raising awareness'.

The biggest problem you have with Trump is that he called out their BS illustrating just how many people are seeing through all this nonsense.

well first I said "before real evidence was presented" Never did I say "no evidence".

secondly, I am not going to go case by case. But not every black person shot by a cop is innocent, and not every black person shot by a cop is a threat. There facts in certain cases that were misleading by people before the REAL evidence was released. That is indisputable.

Most have already stated they don't watch or go to games and are boycotting. But they all still show up here and complain about what they see on the field every Sunday on a Browns football message board. rofl

Yes they have and frankly, I wouldn't be mad if someone videotaped some street justice against those cops. Kudos for letting it go to trial but man, wrong is wrong. Verdicts have been wrong in too many cases. I really don't have a clue how to weed racists trash from law enforcement.

Pretty sure all the evidence was presented when they found the cops who brutally beat Rodney King to a pulp not guilty.

Yeah, but that became a wash after O.J. got away with killing two white people

you cant argue with someone not willing to even acknowledge facts. "hands up don't shoot" didn't happen.

Castille IMO was shot because the cop was scared a black guy had a gun.

Some people cant differentiate fact from emotions.

I really don't want to go case by case as this will take all day and im about ready to head home. But my points were made, and if you disagree, by all means please do. But your pointing out one side of the argument I agreed on and trying to use it against me.

I stated their was police brutality, and I stated that their were instances where it was justified that the left used to politicize. If you don't like the facts, don't reply.

There was nothing in that cops demeanor that showed he was afraid of Castille because he was black. In fact when u look at the video when he informs him he has a gun, the cop starts to instruct him on how to proceed. Then he reacts as Castilld reaches near or for it.

But i guess its just easier to play thr "because he was black card"

We all have opinions, but im sorry I watched that video, and the cop was scared. There was no reason to shoot through car.

The real solution to the issue will be brought about through the owners pockets. If they feel their team's value will go down, then these protests will stop. If they still make the $$, then some of the protests will go on. I guess we'll see how the average football fan reacts. That could be the difference.

you're becoming a joke and i regret saying you're one of the good cops. that's turning out to be false.

first off, we have provided evidence before with systemic racism in this country, yet all you could do is muster an ENTIRE post with nothing but feelings.

you get that, right? you claimed we only came up with how we "feel" while providing no evidence to counter the claim and only stated YOUR feelings.

that's rich, hilarious, and pathetic on your end.

but fine. i guess class is in session once again. as i said before, i don't blame you. i blame the police department's low standards for hiring guys like you. should be some form of education requirement.

anywho, let's begin:

basic definition, two sources:

Institutional racism is distinguished from racial bigotry by the existence of institutional systemic policies, practices and economic and political structures which place minority racial and ethnic groups at a disadvantage in relation to an institution's racial or ethnic majority.

Institutional racism is a pattern of social institutions — such as governmental organizations, schools, banks, and courts of law — giving negative treatment to a group of people based on their race.

____

^^^ you understand that this right here completely destroyed your post filled with feelings, correct?

if you're feelings are hurt, you should probably stop here. it's only gonna get worse.

When juveniles hit the court system, it discriminates against blacks as well. Black children are 18 times more likely to be sentenced as adults than white children, and make up nearly 60 percent of children in prisons, according to the APA. Black juvenile offenders are much more likely to be viewed as adults in juvenile detention proceedings than their white counterparts.

http://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/releases/psp-a0035663.pdf

you probably won't read that because you don't like reading things that counter your clearly biased views.

but i'll post it anyway, that way neither you or anybody else on this board can claim that they "didn't know".

_____________

still there? awesome, let's continue:

In the workplace, black college graduates are twice as likely as whites to struggle to find jobs - the jobless rate for blacks has been double that of whites for decades. A study even found that people with “black-sounding names” had to send out 50 percent more job applications than people with “white-sounding names” just to get a call back.

http://www.nber.org/digest/sep03/w9873.html
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/20/black-college-graduates_n_5358983.html

________

at this junction, this is the part where people don't have much of an argument, don't have much of a counter, and will then start attacking the source itself in a way to deflect from actually addressing the issue.

Haus and devil probably just got triggered when they saw huffpost. lol, funny, i know.

anyways, on we go:

A black man is three times more likely to be searched at a traffic stop, and six times more likely to go jail than a white person.

http://www.reformer.com/stories/racial-profiling-in-vermont,253209

i know this all too well. i got searched for drugs without so much as a citation so many times in one month. it got to the point that my 1st sergeant and commander had to go to the PD and have a discussion as to why i kept getting pulled over without so much as a ticket for rolling through a stop sign.

but Devil, you think systemic racism is a conspiracy. if you think that, fine, but don't get mad when i start calling you Alex Jones and Steve Bannon.

ok, Steve? let's continue:

The numbers get ridiculous in certain parts of the country, the project found. On the New Jersey Turnpike, for instance, blacks make up 15 percent of drivers, more than 40 percent of stops and 73 percent of arrests – even though they break traffic laws at the same rate as whites. In New York City, blacks and Hispanics were three and four times as likely to be stopped and frisked as whites.

http://sentencingproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Race-and-Justice-Shadow-Report-ICCPR.pdf

but but but...it's a conspiracy!!!!

yea yea. on we go:

Juries are stacked against you if you’re black. Racial bias in jury selection is ridiculous – qualified black jurors are illegally turned away as much as 80 percent of the time in the jury selection process.

The result? About a quarter of juries in death penalty cases have no black jurors, and more than two-thirds have two or less. When a black person is accused of killing a white person – and the jury consists of five or more white males – the odds go way up for a death penalty verdict. Defense lawyers, and prosecutors, know that having just a single black man on the jury substantially changes the odds.

Black people stay in prison longer than white people – up to 20 percent longer than white people serving time for essentially similar crimes. They get much harsher sentences – black people are 38 percent more likely to be sentenced to death than white people for the same crimes.

https://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/at-the-edge/2015/05/06/institutional-racism-is-our-way-of-life

_____

sounds like systemic racism to me. not you?

makes sense, cause you're part of the system that discriminates against us. it's not surprising you don't EVER speak in defense of us, Devil.

___________

i could go on and on, seriously. but i'll stop. because unlike you, Devil, i actually come with straight bars. i come with facts. i come with evidence to back up my claims and opinions about the toxic situations we find ourselves in as a nation.

You? you come with feeling post about how others feel. proving that the standard for becoming a cop needs to be seriously raised, and you should probably be retested to see if you're even competent enough to still be in the force.

come at me like that, i'll clap back real quick homeboy.

to EVERYONE ELSE:

all we want is equal treatment, an equal chance to succeed, not equal results. we just want to be treated fairly like white people when they hit the justice system. as i JUST PROVED, that isn't the case unfortunately.

equal chance to succeed and equal results are not the same thing, FYI. and that's all we ask as minorities.

i have provided hard evidence and facts as to why systemic racism exist and is still a major problem.

anybody stating otherwise is willingly spreading misinformation and lying. can we debate on how to best fix the issue?

absolutely.

but to deny there's even a problem in the first place is not only false, but hilariously tone-deaf.

Jersey for Army vet Steelers player who chose to stand alone for the national anthem is an instant bestseller -while the coach says he's disappointed 100% of players didn't skip out

Steelers Coach Rips Afghan War Vet Villanueva for Standing for the Anthem

http://www.breitbart.com/sports/2017/09/...m_medium=social

In what might just be the most 2017 NFL story ever, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin ripped one of his players, an Afghan war veteran, for coming out of the locker room for the national anthem.

On Sunday, the Steelers had decided as a team to remain in the locker room and not come to the sidelines for the playing of the national anthem, with one notable exception. The team understood that tackle Alejandro Villanueva, a former Army Ranger and Afghan war veteran, would still come out to show respect for the flag. The exception was made for Villanueva due to the fact that he risked life and limb defending that flag and what it stands for, a factor obvious enough that really shouldn’t have to be explained.

Except for one factor: it’s the NFL in 2017.

The reasons why Villanueva should be exempted from his team’s disgusting display of disrespect were apparently lost on their head coach. When answering questions from reporters after the game, Tomlin seemed to rap Villanueva, repeating the claim that the team was looking for “100% participation,”

Tomlin said, “Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team.”

Apparently, in Tomlin’s world, respect for team is over and above respect for someone who risked his life to defend his country.

According to Fox, “Tomlin told the media that, prior to kickoff Sunday, the Steelers held a team meeting and decided, though not unanimously, to not come out of the locker room for the national anthem. Tomlin added the intent was to have his team focus on the game and not President Trump’s comments blasting players who chose to protest during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Tomlin said after the game:

Many of them felt like something needed to be done. I asked those guys to discuss it and whatever they discussed that we have 100 percent participation or we do nothing. They discussed it for an appropriate length of time and they couldn’t come to an understanding, so they chose to remove themselves from it. They were not going to be disrespectful in the anthem so they chose not to participate, but at the same time many of them were not going to accept the words of the president.

Villanueva clearly had a different mentality about what the anthem meant for him.

Tomlin continued, “We’re not politicians. We’re coaches and professional athletes. If those of us or individuals choose to participate in politics in some way, I’m going to be supportive of that. But when we come out of locker rooms, we come out of locker rooms to play football games.”

Villanueva was critical of the Colin Kaepernick, the former 49er who launched the current NFL protest movement. In 2016, Villanueva said, “I don’t know if the most effective way is to sit down during the national anthem with a country that’s providing you freedom, providing you $16 million a year … when there are black minorities that are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for less than $20,000 a year.

“I will be the first one to hold hands with Colin Kaepernick and do something about the way minorities are being treated in the United States, the injustice that is happening with police brutality, the justice system, inequalities in pay. You can’t do it by looking away from the people that are trying to protect our freedom and our country.”

funny how Trump will blast nfl players but won't speak on what's happening in puerto rico.

does he not realize they are american citizens?

oh, it's because they aren't white.

Trump was simply using his Twitter account to emphasize patriotism.

"He's not emphasizing sports," she said. "He's emphasizing something that should be unifying; celebrating and promoting patriotism in our country is something that should bring everybody together."

Sanders noted that FEMA administrator Brock Long and Homeland Security senior adviser Tom Bossert were in Puerto Rico assessing the damage on behalf of the administration.

"The response has been at an unprecedented level and we're supplying federal assistance as quickly as possible," she added.

More than 10,000 federal staff are on the ground in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands "assisting with search & rescue, restoring power, & moving commodities," according to FEMA.

This is exactly why I continue to engage in these talks. Fat lot of good it's done, in most cases.

Which brings around a point of conversation I'd like someone to address.

Images of cops forming skirmish lines, packs of A/A folks in the street: "I'm not against their right to protest, just not like this."

Peaceful organized march through town: "It's not the right time."

Players take a knee, stand silently: "It disrespects our flag"

And on and on.

So I have one question, to be answered by anybody:
At what time, at what place, in what manner would a lawful protest/display be acceptable? Because I've seen 50 years of "wrong place/wrong time/wrong method"...

...which leaves very few (if any) options.

Or is that actually the point, after all?

I'm seriously not posting this is a confrontational way at all. It just seems like any expression at all is going to be met with disapproval by someone. So what's a shoe-wearer to do?

If you don't understand that sitting or kneeling during our National Anthem, Taking a dump while the Pope is speaking, Or eating your lunch at a gathering of the American Anorexia Society is bad timing, I can't help you!

the solution is for us to shut up and be good colored boys who listens to massah.

Take a Knee, Pay Your Own Fee: Louisiana Politician Wants to Take State Money Away from Saints After Protests

http://www.breitbart.com/sports/2017/09/...m_medium=social

The struggle could become even more real, for the NFL’s growing number of anthem-protesting malcontents. Particularly those who protest while wearing the Fleur-de-lis.

Louisiana House Rep. Kenny Havard, says that after ten Saints players protested the playing of the national anthem on Sunday, the time has come for the State of Louisiana to pull funds from the New Orleans franchise.

Havard told the New Orleans Times-Picayune, “Disrespecting our national anthem and flag in the name of social injustice is the highest form of hypocrisy. I believe in the right to protest, but not at a taxpayer-subsidized sporting event. Do it on your own time. There are plenty of disabled children, elderly and veterans in this state that would appreciate the money.”

The Times-Picayune puts the dollar amount for state contributions to the Saints, at $165 million. While that represents only a small portion of the Saints’ $1.5 billion total value. Depriving Saints Owner Tom Benson of public money, isn’t the only way the state could hurt the Saints.

According to Pro Football Talk, “Neither the Saints nor the NBA Pelicans (also owned by Benson) pay rent to the state to use the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Smoothie King Center, buildings built and operated by the state. But Benson does get to keep all revenue associated with games there, including ticket sales, concessions and parking, and they don’t pay sales tax on those revenues. Benson also keeps naming rights money for the buildings. The state of Louisiana also paid $85 million for a recent round of upgrades to the Superdome.”

So, Louisiana could decide that they no longer want to entertain Benson’s sweetheart deal, where he gets to use two facilities built by the state, rent free. They could also decide that Benson no longer gets to keep all revenue from concessions, parking, and the like, without paying taxes on it. Plus, of course, the state could decide they’re done with the corporate-welfare practice of paying for upgrades on stadiums Benson is using.

Will Havard’s idea succeed? Probably not, however, it’s nice to at least hear someone other than President Trump fighting back for a change.

You know the funny about that, I said the same thing only on opposite spectrums. JFK would be considered a right wing kook in todays Left

Guess you were leaning right and I was leaning left anyways. I disagree on JFK as I would if you said Ronald R. would be considered a Left Wing kook today. Makes no sense.

I apologize then because I feel the same way. The scale has moved, outward in both directions. If this was Europe, I would be a center-right person.

JFK, if you just look at his policies without his "name" attached to it, would be unelectable as a democrat today, just as Ronald Reagan would likely be unelectable by the right. They are both too centrist, too rational, too cooperative.....
