None of the issues are getting white people shot nor do you see national protests.
Your right they aren't. White people are getting run down and killed by nazi's in local protests.
Trump has set the tone. His tone is divisive. If he had a tweet storm over the KKK or Nazi's or Russia like he had about NFL players it may be different but he doesn't. He has a tweet storm for days calling out mostly black athletes. What do you guys expect people to think? That Trump isn't fueling the division? Good luck with that.

My point was that there are crazies on both sides. If you're going to talk about the crazies, include your crazies too instead of pointing the finger in one direction.

I pointed out issues on both sides but you refuse to acknowledge anything in my post. So if you don't think that white people are offended by the issues I pointed out and they're also divisive, then you're the blind one.
Legislation Seeking to Strip Taxpayer Funding from Sports Arenas Gains Momentum Following National Anthem Protests
by Katherine Rodriguez
25 Sep 2017
Members of Congress are growing more interested in legislation that seeks to strip taxpayer funding from sports arenas following the recent NFL protests of the National Anthem.
Sen. James Lankford’s (R-OK) spokesperson told the Daily Caller on Sunday that interest in the “Eliminating Federal Tax Subsidies for Stadiums Act of 2017” (S. 1342) proposed by Lankford and his Democratic co-sponsor Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) in June, has grown in the past four weeks. Booker and Lankford’s bill would ban professional sports teams from using federal tax-exempt funding and would amend the tax code to treat any bonds as taxable regardless of who is providing the bonds.
“Professional sports teams generate billions of dollars in revenue,” Booker said in a statement. “There’s no reason why we should give these multimillion-dollar businesses a federal tax break to build new stadiums. It’s not fair to finance these expensive projects on the backs of taxpayers, especially when wealthy teams end up reaping most of the benefits.” Lankford agreed with his Democratic co-sponsor.
“The federal government is responsible for a lot of important functions, but financing sports stadiums for multi-million—sometimes billion—dollar franchises is definitely not one of them,” Lankford said. advertisement Lankford and Booker’s bill notes that federal tax-exempted municipal bonds have financed the construction or renovation of 36 professional athletic stadiums. A Brookings Institute study reported that taxpayers spent $3.2 billion toward the construction costs of these stadiums.
Dozens of NFL players who potentially benefit from the state, local, and federal taxpayer funding protested the National Anthem on Sunday after Trump criticized NFL players who disrespect the National Anthem, and called on team owners to fire or suspend those who do so.
Only now it seems the federal government wants to tell cities that it can't pay for stadiums. So much for promoting the rights of local and state governments. Just a lot of hot air that won't go anywhere. They can't tell cities that or it would apply to all businesses.
That would ruin their ability to pay off any company from moving to their city. And we can't have that. Just another emotional whine about depriving people of their rights by wrapping themselves in the flag.
How much you want to bet this is coming from the former tea party members that now call themselves the Freedom Caucus? The fringe whines again.

The same exact thing could be said for businesses that receive tax abatements to locate to cities across the nation. Many people never work there or never go there. In both instances they create jobs. At least people get to vote when it comes to stadiums. Not on a tax abatement for other businesses.

What about the rights of the citizens not having to pay for something they never use?
By that logic, you realize how LITTLE the defense budget will have if we went that direction?
Then guys like you would cry that Americans arent supporting the troops and being patriotic.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Trump is trying to dictate how NFL owners run their business.
I'm sorry. That's not how this works.
'Dolt 45' doesn't get to define what this is all about. He wasn't around when it started, he didn't involve himself in the creation of this expression, and his flabby, septuagenarian, un-woke ass wasn't asked permission for this to happen.
Atop that, it's not his movement to hijack into something that benefits him. He doesn't get to call any part of this game. Not with me. Symbolism doesn't work on me, so I'm not distracted by a bolt of dyed cloth. I keep my eyes on who says what, and why.

Trump has a major axe to grind with the NFL. This goes back when Pete Rozelle told him he could not get an NFL team. Then when Trump did buy a USFL team and sued for damages against the NFL. Trump's league got $1 of damages. This goes way back. Trump could care less if the players kneel or not.

Didn't know that was funded by local City tax money.
All US citizens use defense budget to protect them not all go to sporting events. Apples to oranges weak reply.
the concept is still the same. if you want taxpayers to be in control of what they spend/don't spend, then this absolutely applies.

This weekend, the more than 100 NFL players who refused to stand during the national anthem were met with boos from crowds in stadiums across America — and deservedly so.
Playing in London, Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars players wouldn’t stand for the U.S. national anthem but did for “God Save the Queen” in the very country we fought to win our independence.
Worse, the players held their disgraceful protest on National Gold Star Mother’s Day, the day our country honors mothers who have lost children in war. A Gold Star mother whose son died in Afghanistan told CNN last year that when she first saw players taking a knee, “my heart kind of stopped and I lost my breath because the flag that I see is the flag that draped my son’s casket.” Imagine what she and other Gold Star mothers felt seeing 100 players do the same on the very day our country set aside to thank them.
Way to go, NFL.
In Pittsburgh, only one player — Alejandro Villanueva — a former Army Ranger who lost brothers in arms fighting under that flag — came out of the locker room to stand for the anthem. He was criticized for doing so by his coach. The fans’ response? Sales of Villanueva jerseys skyrocketed.
What these players don’t seem to understand is that Americans gave their lives so that they could have the freedom to play a kids’ game for a living. When players disrespect the flag, they disrespect that sacrifice. And it would not matter if they had done so to protest Donald Trump or Barack Obama — their actions would be equally offensive. If NFL players want to protest the president, they have plenty of other ways. Attend a rally. Speak out on Twitter. Tell the media after the game, “I stood up for America but I stand against Donald Trump.” But don’t show contempt for the flag.
This is certainly refreshing. Maybe it’s something about Green Bay, Wisconsin, that allows the players and coaches there to buck the growing trend of disrespect in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix posted an image to Twitter prior to a preseason game showing off the very strong message that he’s been sending to the police officers of America.

The Packers star has been honoring fallen police officers by writing their names on his football cleats. It’s a simple, yet very powerful, message.
He added the names of Kissimmee, Florida, police Sgt. Richard “Sam” Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter, who were shot and killed last week.
Clinton-Dix is a shining example of someone who is respectfully advocating for political change.
He doesn’t kneel or sit during the national anthem. He doesn’t spout off inflammatory rhetoric. He doesn’t openly engage in racial identity politics.
Even amid widespread protests in the NFL on Sunday, Clinton-Dix stood during the national anthem, linking his arms with teammates. He was not one of the three Packers players who sat during the national anthem on Sunday.
It’s a breath of fresh air in an NFL where players like Michael Bennett, Marshawn Lynch and Colin Kaepernick think that the best time to make a political statement is during the recital of the national anthem.
And make no mistake, Clinton-Dix is definitely an advocate for social change. A cursory glance at his Twitter account shows several posts pushing for criminal justice reform and defending the rights of players like Lynch and Bennett to speak their minds in a free country.
But he also takes time to honor and respect the brave men and women who protect and serve this country.
And the Pro Bowl safety is still working toward a degree in criminal justice from the University of Alabama. He’s actually attempting to expand his knowledge of the subject, as opposed to regurgitating cliched talking points.
Case in point, he recently took an unpaid internship under a Brown County Circuit Court judge in Wisconsin. He posted some of his experiences to his Instagram account.
Ultimately, it comes down to something very simple.
Regardless of how you feel about his political commentary, Clinton-Dix is going about affecting social change the right way.
He’s pushing for change that he genuinely believes in while honoring and respecting all those who protect and serve this country.
And Clinton-Dix is doing all of this without kneeling or sitting during the national anthem.

Those players from the Ravens and Jags that protested the anthem in London and then Stood for God save the queen should have their citizenship revoked. That is an act of treason. Benedict Arnold would be proud of them.
"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money." Margarat Thatcher
And still, those who believe their second amendment rights and the Constitution means everything, drape themselves in the flag to excuse why the first amendment rights of others should be infringed upon. Their fearful leader curses at those he disagrees with and his blind followers fall in line behind him like sheep to slaughter.

You have that upside down and backwards. You Liberals didn't care when the Secretary of State of the United States of America did it but now you suddenly care.

Informed scientists are telling us that we are screwing up the home planet we live on. Future generations may be in jeopardy, NK is a serious problem, we have American citizens in trouble from serious storms, health insurance is an issue and our beloved POTUS wants to get in a flame war with the NFL players?

Give it a rest man...a tweet takes 30 seconds out of his 20hr work day.
FYI: DirecTV customers may be able to get a $280 refund if they cancel NFL Sunday Ticket due to the Anthem protests. There's some inconsistency in who has gotten refunds but I imagine those who are interested and push firmly enough could probably get one.
I'm about to [censored] some people off but oh well...
daytna: You didn't [censored] me off at all. Really. And you know why? Because I look forward to opportunities to talk about this stuff... because it truly is important for our society. I particularly look forward to answering questions like the ones you posed. Most of the time when questions like yours get asked, they're being dropped as rhetorical questions... as if there is no answer for them. I believe I can answer them, and would like to take a shot.
Even if you still disagree with me after I'm finished, you'll at least have a chance to know why we disagree. I owe you the respect to take your post seriously, answer candidly, and perhaps present things in a way you might not have considered. It's worth a shot. So, here goes:

1) Black history month - can you imagine the outcry if white history month was dedicated?
For 200 years, every month was "White History Month." It was pretty much the only history I was taught... and I sat right next to you in public school (I presume- but yo get my point-) Without a movement specifically enacted to preserve a segment of American history that was being ignored, My Family's story would have been lost forever. And it's a fascinating one. I encourage you to follow this DT thread to read about some of the Dawgs here. If you want to skip right to the clemstuff, you can click here. A short video can be seen here. I really hope you'll follow the links. In my opinion, it was a cool recent DT'er's moment on the board.
Everyone who participated in that thread got to know each other a little better, because of my family ancestry being the start of the thread. This thread (which benefited everyone) wouldn't have happened without a concerted effort to preserve a family heritage that simply wasn't considered a priority in 1838, 1908 or even 1938. I guess I'm saying that my thread is an example of Black American History being a net positive in our (little) culture. Led to some good talk.

2) BET (Black Entertainment Television) - I want to start WET (White Entertainment Television)can you imagine the outcry?
Why would you want to start something like that? Do you believe that European Americans are under-represented in today's media? Since the dawn of TV, there has been ABC, NBC, CBS, etc and today, with 500 channels from which to choose, there still exists only about a half-dozen dedicated channels. Why do they exist at all? Because until the last 10-20 years, Black Americans were virtually unseen on network TV.
So we stopped waiting for corporate TV to start representing us, and did it for ourselves. We didn't ask permission, we didn't wait for a handout. And now, somehow this offends White people? What do any White people lose from the existence of a BET? Nothing. How does the existence of a BET further a racial divide? The shows aren't promoting Black Separatism. They aren't spouting anti-White propaganda 24/7. They aren't restricting the viewing of folks who aren't Black Americans. No. They exist because market forcesinsisted they exist. Simple supply & demand. Capitalism 101.
It's also no coincidence that once the independent Black cable entertainment economy became not just viable but also profitable, here comes The Usual Corporate Culprits looking to piggyback. Major studios are glomming on, too. Hey- it's what happens. Blues. Jazz. Dance. Poetry. HipHop. R&B.

Black Miss America - we already have a Miss America, why do we need another that segregates?
In my opinion, we don't need these outdated, exploitative spectacles at all. But ALSO... I'm not offended, put out, miffed, upset or butthurt that we do. I simply ignore it, black, white- ALL OF IT, so it doesn't effect me on any level.
4)
Quote:
Black Spring Break - black people can't commingle with white college students that they need their own? I won't give all black colleges their own line item.
This wasn't even a thing when I was in school, but I can't see how its existence furthers a divide in this country. When the weekend is over, Black students are right back at school with their White counterparts.
5) How about making it ALM (ALL LIVES MATTER)
Quote:
BLM - how racist would it be for WLM?
It wouldn't be racist as much as it would be absurdly superfluous. White lives have always mattered in this country. Black lives- a bit less so. Hence, the name of the movement.
Sooooo... by natural extension, when Black lives begin to matter as much as White lives... we'll have actually achieved "All Lives Matter". Wasn't that your goal all along, as well?
I read the remainder of your post, but didn't respond, because I promised only to answer your questions to the best of my ability. Nonetheless, I did get a feel for where you're coming from. I hope you get the same from my efforts.
