Let's hope he would be sober enough where he hasn't option hmmm slurred typing
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I believe in his second chance, I have a good feeling. I believe in second chances too. Fourth, fifth and sixth chances? Not so much.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If he was a pilot, a cop, a surgeon.. or somebody who was responsible for other people's lives and well being and he was being negligent in the performance of his duties.. hell yea, I'd limit his chances because the risk is great to other people. But he's a football player.. a wide receiver... run down the field, catch the ball, run toward the big yellow sticks in the ground, spike the ball... that's his job. And with or without his personal issues, he was good at it. He's being punished for failing to follow rules that, quite literally, have NOTHING to do with him doing his job.

I'm typically a "rules are the rules" kind of guy, but I also usually run on the side of it doesn't hurt anyone then it should mostly be ok. I agree, some professions shouldn't allow certain things, but football loads players full of pain killers and such, so I don't understand why weed is such a huge deal.

Dude was late to meetings and practices. He missed practices and meetings. He was out of shape. He was suspended by the team for showing up late to a game. He was overweight when he came back. He had some sort of upper leg injury. He dogged it his last season here.
Let's not act like none of his issues have effected his performances.

Let's not act like none of his issues have effected his performances. Right. He has issues. And the team reserves the right to suspend/fine him for those things. None of those are why the NFL suspended him. He was suspended for substances. He is far from perfect, but I personally think he is more likely to improve those issues around the team than away from it.

If we were in a position (with our current talent level) where we could walk blue-chip talent out the door because they're too much of a headache, then I would agree with you. Unfortunately, we're not.
I'm as frustrated with this never-ending JG saga as the next guy, but you're telling me that we're supposed to cut him, and then resume raiding the waiver wire and other teams' practice squads for anything resembling WR talent? That doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

Josh Gordon - WR - Browns
Pro Football Talk reports Josh Gordon (suspended) has not applied for reinstatement. Gordon is reportedly out of rehab, and there were rumors floating around last month he would get reinstated. He has yet to apply, however, and it is far from a guarantee he will gain clearance from the NFL even if he does. We continue to guess he will not play this season.

This is an easy one.
Let the process play out.
If he is reinstated bring him in. Make it clear to him what is expected in regards to code of conduct.
One false move; gone.

No reinstatement application from Josh Gordon, yet Posted by Mike Florio on October 3, 2017, 12:53 PM EDT Getty Images Browns receive Josh Gordon ended a 90-day rehab stint last month. He is eligible to apply for reinstatement to the NFL. Per a league source, that hasn’t happened yet. Gordon hasn’t filed yet even though former Olympian Tim Montgomery, who has been assisting Gordon, has said, “He’s coming. . . I think he’s going to be there this season.” Even if Gordon files this week, the league has no deadline or timetable for resolving a reinstatement request. And since Gordon currently doesn’t have an agent to help Gordon through the process of filing his petition, the application may not move as quickly as it otherwise would. Gordon, a second-round pick in the 2012 supplemental draft, last played in 2014, appearing in five games and catching 24 passes for 303 yards. In 2013, Gordon generated 1,646 receiving yards in 14 games. It’s a shame that his talent has been wasted, both by his inability to comply with the league’s rules regarding off-field substance use and abuse — and by the league’s insistence to police the private lives of employees for things completely unrelated to their unemployment. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/10/03/no-reinstatement-application-from-josh-gordon-yet/

I'm as frustrated with this never-ending JG saga as the next guy, but you're telling me that we're supposed to cut him, Since the Browns can't cut him, I'm not telling you that at all. I'm betting the Browns cut him loose if he's ever reinstated, which I doubt is going to happen anytime soon. And why does he even deserve to take a roster spot since he's never shown loyalty to the Browns by staying clean for more than a few mo's. As it stands JG is NFL history, you all need to get over that. Besides he'll never be what he was year #1. And he showed exactly that the last time he played a game. And when was that again? 2014-15. Hell I can't even remember that far back anymore.

It could be for any number of reasons. It could also not be true (he has, in fact, applied for reinstatement and it's working its way through the bureaucracy. Who knows (other than Mr. A Source)?

"He's about 231 (pounds) right now, and he's been working out there, so it won't take him long," Montgomery said at the time. "He came in here (around Sept. 1) and he was out of shape and hadn't caught a football in two months, but that football didn't hit the ground." On my phone will post link when I get home. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/10/josh_gordon_hasnt_yet_applied.html

The top comment for that article was, "So he hasn't caught a football in two months. How's that any different than Britt?"

I don't recall comparing the two. If he comes back then he is most likely our best WR. If he doesn't then no loss.

Josh Gordon - WR - Browns
It remains unclear if the Browns would welcome suspended WR Josh Gordon back to the 53-man roster if he's reinstated.
Per the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the team has been "noncommittal" on the matter. Gordon can apply for reinstatement at any time. He checked out of rehab a week ago. It's unknown how the NFL might decide when/if Gordon applies for reinstatement. Gordon turned 26 in April. The Browns are ludicrously thin at receiver.

I can't help but wonder if the decision behind Josh Gordon not yet applying for reinstatement is because he will have a place with the Browns, and he's already aware of it.
Given our struggles at receiver, even without the Coleman injury, the pressures for Josh to start will be immediate upon reinstatement. Taking a little time prior to the completion of the paperwork could give him time to brush up on the playbook and continue to get in NFL shape.
If he comes back too soon and isn't yet ready to play, regardless if he is seeing snaps or not, it is a lose-lose for multiple reasons.

If our WRs were actually performing, then josh Gordon could very well be cut.
But at this point, I’m willing to bet the FO is PRAYING that Gordon gets reinstated soon, cause his sins will be forgiven if that means they don’t have to give Britt this many snaps.

Are y'all going to blame the NFL for this one, too? LOL I'm not exactly a Gordon lover, but I'm not ignoring it at all, thus the reason I'm on this thread. But if anyone is ignoring it, it's probably because they are tired of hearing about it. If something happens, we'll deal with it then...

WHY???????? I can only guess its is his past dealings that has gotten him in trouble not failed tests but because he just is a dumb idiot!!!
Like the drink on the plane. Not knowing the rules of his probation. I think cause he sent in a letter in MAY...where he was not eligible to ask for reinstatement. He probably thinks that the letter is still good and he doesn't need to submit a new request. Yes, he is that stupid and its something he has to get done...note he doesn't have people telling him the right things to get it right. Somebody tweet him please and let him know...lol

That article also alluded to him not having an agent, which will make things take longer, as he doesn't have anyone to help him cut through the red tape.
Long story short, he doesn't have his ducks in a row. He wasn't prepared to push through to his return. Pretty dumb to not be ready for this, but far from the dumbest thing he's done.
