I don't respect him that much cause he was a Defensive Coach and his mantra was Cover 2 4 DL, then he came here and was given his OC and given his DC which was not even his philosophy then he gets all the credit. I saw him as more of a rah rah coach then installing his ideas.

But he has done the Rah Rah stuff very good.

He definitely came into the perfect situation. He just had to manage the winning, which he has. He hasn't had to turn around the offense or defense. Pittsburgh won't be "taking it down to the studs" anytime soon.

Their culture (as has already pointed out) was also already where it needed to be. That team doesn't (need to) tolerate distractions.

You are, as most in Pittsburgh would disagree with you on how he handles players.

The biggest gripe fans have in Pittsburgh is he does not hold the team responsible for anything, and has his own "clique" of players that get away with whatever they want.

He is also a dirty piece of crap that tried to trip a player from the sideline. Sorry.

Most Steelers fans I know like Tomlin, except they don't like the way the Steelers occasionally lose vs teams they should not lose to.

Personally, I think that Tomlin handled the Martavis Bryant situation well. Once Martavis started attacking JuJu Smith-Shuster (an up-and-coming star who is a fan favorite), he definitely deserved to not play this week. I think someone is giving Martacvis Bryant some very bad advice.

Sorry Bro, I live in Pittsburgh, I hear it all day.

Tomlin needs fired he cant beat teams he supposed to beat

Tomlin needs fired, all we do is get penalties, the team is undisciplined.

Tomlin needs fired, he doesn't hold anyone accountable.

You may talk to a couple fans, I live with hundreds of thousands.

Fire Tomlin

Fire Tomlin

Petition to Fire Mike Tomlin

Fire Tomlin for losing to the Ravens
Mike Tomlin is racist against white players, he needs fired

Tomlin should be fired

There are a lot of stories about Tomlin off the field as well that you might not have heard, about him and Joey Porter disrupting a HS football game and being kicked out of the stadium for being crude and making threats etc. He is not as well liked as the national media may make you think smile

Edit - J/C. Yay, my first J/C! Almost as exciting as losing my virginity, and it's over just as quickly!

Personally, I would rather us go get Pryor back.

1. He knows the offense, so he doesn't have the catch up that most receivers have.
2. He'd be cheap both in terms of the trade value and monetary value moving forward. He's been humbled. His dreams of being a top paid WR don't exist anymore.
3. Pryor is a fantastic red-zone threat, where we struggle most. He and Njoku are exciting jump ball receivers to have.
4. Pryor was an emotional leader. Some people hated it, but I loved seeing him getting frustrated and wanting more. He was the opposite of Kenny Britt.
5. We know Pryor wanted to be here. The coaching, the team and location wasn't an issue, it was just money. Even when Pryor was introduced as a Redskin, he seemed so unenthusiastic about it. I really think he was disappointed a deal couldn't be made with the Browns.
6. We're coming in to our bye week. Grab him Monday, he'll be ready to play after the bye. He just needs a little chemistry tune up, but he does know the offense.

He offers less than Bryant does, but he comes cheap and is ready to help Kizer moving forward now. Pryor, Coleman and a draft pick next year is a pretty solid receiver core, in my opinion.

I would take TP over Bryant too. Less chance of seeing more Browns related suspensions.

We almost could ship a 7th rounder (it would seem) for TP but I don't think he wants to play here long term. Now he may have burned our bridge and his poor play there in Washington, burned even more bridges.

Trade for him though, and cut Kenny Britt in the same exact breath.

To be bluntly honest, I fear the front office won't do it because they'll see it as an admission of trying to correct a bad decision.

Personally, I don't blame the front office at all for these moves. Pryor had a price, he thought it was higher, and the Browns made a great decision not budging. As for Britt, I don't think anyone could have realistically expected this. At worst, he was supposed to be a solid #2 behind Coleman with veteran qualities but an enigmatic personality who has never truly shaken the boat. He seemed like a sensible, albeit slightly overpriced, signing.

I'd hope the front office would be willing to move without feeling like they'd get smashed for it by the media and the fans who have really quit on the season and are just in "I'm angry" mode.

Dropping a 5th/6th/7th for Pryor would be a fantastic move, we get our guy back on the cheap. Moving on from Britt would be a fantastic move, he was a solid signing who just didn't live up to his end of the deal and is worse than any of his previous years in the NFL suggested he would be. It happens. McCourty, for example, is significantly better than we could have reasonably expected.

I'd hope the front office would be receptive to such a move. Ego kills football teams.

This is true, but he will always be playing catch up as he is still learning the position.

This is absolutely true

Physically he is, but stats say otherwise.

He was always fired up, ill give him that.

This is absolutely INCORRECT. We offered him more than Wash, if he wanted to be here, why did he leave a better offer? He wanted top money, and was not worth it. Why should the Browns have offered him more? He is playing like garbage right now, which proves they were right on the money with not offering him what he wanted.

Not if last year was a fluke, which it looks like it was. Not if Coleman cant stay on the field which it looks like he cant, and not if coleman keeps acting up, which looks like he is going to do.

I hear you on that. For me, it's hard to determine the reason we haven't cut Britt is:

1. We're so poor at that position, he still is better than most we have.

2. The FO is refusing to admit they screwed up. We've seen a lot of cuts. Some people have gotten cut the next day here.

Hard to tell. At this stage though, the season is so bleak I don't think cutting an always hurt, never performed well, highly overpaid WR is going to make us look much better or worse. Keeping him sheds it's own light there too. If it's ego, then we're pathetic.

Already more so pathetic than currently.

Regarding the reports I had seen on Pryor's contract, we did offer him a very reasonable multi-year contract, but that was to extend his deal. He thought he could get more on the open market.

When he realized he couldn't get that deal, he wanted a 1 year deal to prove he could establish himself as a top receiver. Granted, I'll admit we don't know how much his agent put that in his head.

As for us, there were reports, originally from Adam Schefter, that Pryor tried to accept our deal but we missed the phone call.

Pryor, not satisfied with the market, decided he wanted a one-year “prove it” deal. His reps called the Browns around 2 PM, but the lines were busy. Unable to reach anyone, they left a voicemail a half hour later, stating Pryor would take the one-year deal. They waited...and waited...and waited. As 4 PM came closer, they knew Washington’s offer might not be on the table much longer. 4 PM came, and Pryor had to take Washington’s deal.

Here is the kicker: a few minutes later, Pryor saw the Browns’ number calling in. It was too awkward to answer, as he’d just reached a deal (although not yet public) with Washington. Hours later, he listened to the voicemail: it was Chris Cooper, the team's director of football administration, calling to apologize for the delay — they were busy welcoming some of their Day 1 signings to the organization while still on the phones with many other player reps. They didn’t realize Pryor’s team had called them until after 4 PM, when they said, ‘Welcome back to Cleveland.’

Edit - Woops, it was right there in the story. Everyone was busy with welcoming our signings.

Name one WR on our roster who is better?

I'm not trying to pimp Pryor as a WR. I'm not saying he is a great WR.

What I'm saying is that as our primary target last year, he had much better production that Britt who was supposed to be our primary target this year. With the exception of Coleman who can't stay on the field.

So please tell me how we wouldn't be better off with Pryor on the roster?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I am almost ready to agree. It is only seven games in to the contract, it's very early to make a cut, but his behaviour and performance are starting to warrant it. I can appreciate giving a guy a little time to try and get it together, but we're getting to the point where he's obviously just unwilling or unable to do so.

A Pryor signing would be excellent because it would give the Browns a legitimate reason to move on from Britt without having to worry about depth or issues of being too fresh - for example, Williams, Coates and Treggs didn't get any time with our quarterbacks in camp. We've only got Britt, Louis and Hollywood who have built up and kind of chemistry.

That's not to suggest Pryor is a top receiver or solves our problems, but he'd be a significant addition over Britt, for sure.

I hope they grow a set and pull the trigger. It would be best for all involved.

Just throwing this here. I'm considering this a "Our WR Corps is Putrid" thread. Sadly, he would still be an upgrade. If he were 10 years older he would STILL be an upgrade.

But I wouldn't bother. Neither would he.

He now has a world class QB throwing him the ball and cant do squat. Please tell how that doesn't make last year look like a fluke? Not being argumentative, I am seriously asking. To me, that tells me last year was a fluke.

He has almost identical numbers to britt, and was just benched. . . why would he be benched, if he is so good? maybe something else is going on we don't know about either with him or his attitude???? pure speculation, but begs the question.

I like pryor, and I dispise britt, I was just pointing out that the FO not signing pryor was not their own doing, but his. We offered him a contract, a very generous one we know see according to his output, and he turned it down, meaning to me - he didn't want to be here. If he wanted to be here, he would be here.

I gotta call BS on this story. Not saying Schefter is lying, just the story he has been fed. All the lines were busy? Really? What is this 1983? Sashi and Co. all have cell phones and likely bat phones. In this modern day of texting, one of Pryor's reps could not have sent someone in the Browns FO a text that would have gotten through notifying them of their intent?

Yeah, all the lines were busy and Pryor's reps just sat on their hands for two hours while the deadline approached. Good grief.

Not buying it.

I think it is genuine because it's the exact kind of bull$&%t I would expect from Drew Rosenhaus.

Make the Browns think they have a deal and don't inform them of any rush to arrange the signing of the paperwork, then quickly push Pryor to sign with Washington, where he was at the time this is said to have taken place.

Washington threw for more yards than any team in 2016, they've got Kirk Cousins, have lost their two starting receivers, and Pryor will either get an extension next year or hit free agency... almost certainly free agency given Washington has much bigger fish to fry. Meanwhile, the Browns have a passing attack that will either be led by a Cody Kessler or a rookie... Who do you want your rising star FA signing a one-year prove-it deal with? Which team can seemingly maximize his production, thus his 2018 free agent value, thus the 2018 percentage you get from whatever he signs?

Think about the wording of the voicemail. "...stating Pryor would take the one-year deal." There is nothing there that suggests the Browns urgently needed to call back and confirm the deal. This is evident by the apparent response. "Sorry for the delay... Welcome back to Cleveland." That's a little different to, ".... stating you have one hour and a half to confirm the deal, or Pryor will be signing with another team who are willing to match the offer."

I don't know, maybe I'm just being defensive about our team, but it seems like the sort of move a Rosenhaus would pull. They only care about money and how to get more of it.

I completely agree with you. That was pretty funny to even read. Your telling me a Harvard business man could not look at a text while he was on the phone to see TP accepted the offer? and if he excepted you don't think he would have not had someone calling him right away?

I mean it doesn't really matter, pryor left, he stinks and we stink.

He's already been benched. Happened on Monday night. Now he's apparently on the trade block. Rumoured interest from the Bills and Patriots. With the trade deadline next week, this is the time of the season for rumors, but it seems logical.

I don't think he sucks. I think he's proven he's not what he hoped he would be, and that's not a worthwhile investment in the Redskins offense.

The Redskins like their tight end (Reed) and running back (Thompson), who both lead the team in receptions. Crowder, Pryor, Grant and Davis (Who is being used as a flex TE, so somewhat like a receiver, and is actually listed at receiver for them) are all sitting between 15 and 19 receptions. Of those guys, Pryor and Davis have the best numbers.

What complicates the situation is they've finally got a healthy Josh Doctson returning. He was a first round selection last year, and he's starting to earn some reps.

I think Pryor is the odd man out. I said it when he signed, but it was a marriage with zero incentive. Extremely unlikely that Pryor and Cousins would both be on the same team following the 2018 season, and the Redskins offense wasn't broken - he was just a luxury signing that they got because they could. They didn't have an overwhelming need at receiver.

As for why we care - Two words: Kenny Britt. I'll take Pryor over Britt any day. I would actually take Pryor over Britt if Pryor lost an arm. Maybe even both arms. Until we start to get improved receiver play, guys like Pryor should be considered a worthwhile target.

That's easy. We have no WR's which made him a valuable asset. He now plays with other legit. WR's which makes him just another guy.

He has almost identical numbers to britt, and was just benched. . . why would he be benched, if he is so good? maybe something else is going on we don't know about either with him or his attitude???? pure speculation, but begs the question.

Yes, it is no doubt pure speculation. Britt is no better than the cast of nobodies he is surrounded by and maybe worse in some cases. The way a team depends on you, targets you and the competition around you has everything to do with your role on a team.

I like pryor, and I dispise britt, I was just pointing out that the FO not signing pryor was not their own doing, but his. We offered him a contract, a very generous one we know see according to his output, and he turned it down, meaning to me - he didn't want to be here. If he wanted to be here, he would be here.

I guess you missed what was posted earlier today. It seems it was more a communication issue than anyone's fault per say.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Btw...any news on the Gordon Front...I'd rather have Gordon then Bryant. Is he done (failed drug tests?)

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off!

While I agree with what you wrote in the last post about Britt and Pryor - I think there are other factors at play. . . . What is Pryor's value? He wanted elite WR money to sign a long term deal. How much do you offer? Do you think that because we have the cap room we should overpay for a player like Pryor and if so by how much?

It seems to me the FO has done a pretty decent job of gauging market value of our own free agents - Schwartz got less money elsewhere and no-one offered Pryor more for a long term contract .... not withstanding that Britt is a worthless POS signing just like Bowe - does that make it okay to overpay and by how much ? 25% 30% 40%? What is the cut-off?

Lastly if we did have Pryor here would we have won more games with the QB play that we've seen? And given how Pryor wore his emotions on his sleeve so much last year - would he be happier this year? Or would that be an added distraction?

We don't have a Britt thread - and I sure as heck don't want to start one! Saw this on NFL.com and thought it was funny and bang on the money !!!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000867553/article/nfl-trade-deadline-one-move-for-each-afc-team

Cleveland Browns: Sell Kenny Britt

Marc Sessler: Or try to. Good luck finding a trade partner for an overpaid, under-producing malcontent. The move here is to trick some playoff-hopeful into acquiring Britt. Maybe the Ravens will do it as a bit of charity after winning a pair of Super Bowls since moving from Cleveland to Baltimore, while the Browns -- returning in 1999 -- have suffered through two decades of pitch-black darkness. Besides, the Ravens desperately need a healthy wideout to pad one of the NFL's worst passing attacks.

Potential compensation: A $50 gift certificate to Applebee's.

What would you like to see happen with Terrelle Pryor?

3% Build on this year’s learning; bring him back in 2018 on a long-term contract at more than $6m per year (10 votes)

15% Re-sign him for the rate of $5-$6m suggested by OTC (55 votes)

20% Resign him for less than $5m per year (75 votes)

17% Trade him now for a ham sandwich (62 votes)

4% Cut him now (13 votes)

41% Let him walk in free agency and maybe if we’re lucky we’ll get a comp pick (151 votes)

Is there a similar poll on Kenny Britt? I would find that more interesting, considering he is the one who actually plays for the Browns.

Here are some quotes from Mike Zimmer, who coached w/Hue in Cinci. They'll probably upset you, but so be it.

Quote:
“Hue is a heck of a football coach,” Zimmer said in a conference call with the Cleveland media Wednesday. “He is tough. He is smart. He is a great competitor.”

Including the 0-7 start to the 2017 season, the Browns are 1-22 since Sashi Brown took over as executive vice president of player personnel on January 3, 2016 and Jackson was hired eight days later.

Over the last three years, the Browns have gone 4-35, and the record has not been much better since Dee and Jimmy Haslam officially purchased the team in October of 2012.

In five seasons under Haslam’s majority ownership, the Browns have posted an NFL-worst 15-56 record. Factoring in the remaining games of the 2012 season after the sale was approved at an NFL Owners Meeting in Chicago, Haslam’s Browns have gone 19-61.

“I know that it is taking him a little bit longer than what he has anticipated, but he is going to get that thing turned around,” Zimmer said. “That is the kind of guy he is. He will never stop or relax until he gets it all right. Really, they are not that far away. They are really good on defense, and they just turn the ball over offensively.”

Although Jackson took on added responsibilities as the head coach of the Browns, he remained the play caller for the offense, the same role he filled for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he coached alongside Zimmer, then the defensive coordinator.

Like Jackson does for the Browns’ offense, Zimmer calls Minnesota’s defense because he “felt like it was the best thing for me to do at the time.”

“It is difficult, but lots of people do it,” Zimmer said. “I still do it. (Saints coach) Sean Payton does it. (Packers coach) Mike McCarthy does it. There are tons and tons of guys. (Texans coach) Bill O’Brien does it. There are a lot of guys that do it.”

Vers - I am sure many people on this board are pretty sick of some of the crap you pull all the time already. When you talk football you add a lot to the discussion - but when you get into these little hissy fits and personal attacks you look like someone who is bipolar.

If you don't like what I write and you can't respond with football comments - then don't say anything at all.

I'll repeat - don't lie and make up stuff that I never said or take things that I wrote out of context and try and mock or ridicule me. Thanks.

For the record: I have never once said or implied the FO is perfect. That's a complete lie on your part.

I have never called for Hue to be fired or that he is a terrible coach who wouldn't deserve praise by other football folks around the league. What I have done is question some of his playing calling and stated I think he needs an OC ... not because he is or was a bad OC - in fact quote the opposite, he won games with Pryor as a QB for the Raiders and he manufactured Andy Dalton's best and most impressive seasons in Cinci .... I think he needs a OC because he needs to spend 100% of his time effort and energy into being a HC. I think that benefits the team more.

So again - please stop with the lies - please stop with the public attacks and attempts to troll me.
