The stock market literally shot up the day after Trump was elected, in anticipation of him rolling back overly burdensome regulations along with many other campaign promises.

The "IT WAS ME" is a giveaway that Trump most likely didn't do anything to get them released. He gets especially fussy about these things and feels the need to bellow, and it's usually transparent as to what he's trying to combat. A good example is when he rants and raves that he doesn't have time to watch TV - that's an indication that he does watch TV all day (which we already knew) and gets ornery about the characterization.

And the fact that this is a hill he wants to fight on speaks volumes about both his failure in office thus far, as well as his need for racist dog whistles as a populist crutch.

And there were "many Trump supporters" who honestly believed that Trump was in campaign mode. That after being elected he would "act more presidential". How disappointed they must be. His margin for error wasn't very much.

That same writer wrote about how Trump would tone the rhetoric back once he became President.

Although Trump's presidency is very entertaining. At any point a Sports star can speak up and dismantle any real policy discussion.

Yeah, and still nobody seems to want to explain how one dad said something and in response Trump said he should have left all three in prison. But when the president goes on some senseless rant there's not much to explain.

You're right in that the tweet(s) you are talking about really don't follow logically. I also think you're reading too much into it. If Trump contributed to the players being released from Chinese jails, isn't that what is really important? Why does the ranting and bantering on Twitter matter?

How about a hypothetical for you. Suppose foreign athletes were invited to the United States for a sporting contest, and 3 of the players committed multiple felonies while in the United States (shoplifting above a certain dollar amount is a felony and these are high-priced items we are talking about.)

Should the United States be expected to release them with no punishment? Of course not. So why should it be expected that a foreign country do that with American athletes? I don't think anybody will make the argument that American athletes deserve special considerations in foreign countries, to the point where they can commit crimes with impunity.

The reality is the Chinese were very generous to let these athletes go, and Trump and whoever else was in the negotiation process did them better than they ever deserved. The Twitter banter is relatively meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

No offense to all the Trump supporters, but to think that UCLA wasn't going to get the three knuckleheads off scot-free is ridiculous. Trump certainly sped up the process though, but it was probably not worth asking about.

Because it directly speaks to ones character. It's a poor reflection on the office of the president. It shows a total lack of self control and pettiness.



I guess if you're trying to justify poor, immature, childish behavior coming from the office of the President of the United states you would be correct. Some people care when the president of The United States acts like an ass hole.

A kid from Ball State that was on the football team has been in prison in China for 13 months for getting in a bar fight ... his parents are asking trump to get him out ...

I have no details on the fight and what happenend ... unless someone died ... i cant see how we couldn’t make reparations and get the kid out ...
