Hue Jackson denies that Kenny Britt asked to be waived
The plot thickens with an estranged player.

https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland-brow...rowns-112222481

Wide receiver Kenny Britt was released by the Cleveland Browns Friday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport stated that Britt asked for his release from the organization. Head coach Hue Jackson addressed the report during Wednesday's press conference.

"No, that didn't happen. I can clarify that for sure," Jackson said.

The 29 year old signed a four year deal worth $32.5 million in the off-season. He caught 18 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns this season. After he cleared waivers, the New Jersey native signed with the New England Patriots.

Britt was the No. 30 overall selection by the Tennessee Titans in the 2009 NFL Draft.

So...Britt played very well under Fisher...with Goff who was awful last year...then Fisher got fired at the end of the year...then Brit was a turd under Hue. Then...Hue got Britt cut and Britt quickly got signed by the reigning Super Bowl Champions. All facts...right?

Now...is Britt better than Hazel? I'd say yes to that. Otherwise, BB would have signed Hazel instead of Britt. So the position has been weakened. No?

I don't know...did Hazel ever get a standing ovation from the crowd for just catching a ball?

BB would rather have Britt than Hazel on his way to yet-another Super Bowl run. Dorsey couldn't possibly know much about Britt other than what Hue told him.

Britt was a turd here after being productive last year in circumstances very similar to ours this year. So...let's see:

Productive under Fisher who got canned while playing with an awful rookie QB...a complete turd under Hue...coveted by BB. If we played the Sesame Street game of 'one of those things is not like the other'...which would you pick?

Gee...I wonder what happened?

Disclaimer alert: I truly do not care that Britt is gone. I despise guys who aren't with the program while making ridiculous amounts of money. Getting paid to play a game...figure out how to fit in or get out.

That said, it's as ridiculous to blame Hue for Britt's lunacy as it it to blame the FO for not trying to sign guys who wound up getting less $$$ elsewhere. Yet that doesn't stop people from droning on and on about those "missed" signings.

I would say I would believe Hue in this situation.

Actually if Britt wanted out cause of Hue and his doghouse...it is a Positive on Hue not a negative.

Agreed. Hue had to step up and bench him when the FO wouldn't cut him. I didn't love seeing him back on the field, but with the thin WR corps, it was understandable. The day Gordon was reinstated was the day Britt was either going to be permanently benched or cut, IMO. And I don't care if God himself signed him to be the #1 on the Angel Squad, I'm glad he's gone.

Browns' John Dorsey: Cutting Kenny Britt was 'easy' and he might 'have a higher opinion of himself'

Updated 12:15 PM; Posted 12:13 PM

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/12/browns_john_dorsey_cutting_ken.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- John Dorsey revealed on that waiving Kenny Britt on his first full day as Browns' GM Friday was a no-brainer.

"I have no problem making that decision,'' Dorsey said today on "The Really Big Show'' with Aaron Goldhammer on WKNR 850, a radio partner of the Browns. "From a cultural standpoint I don't think he fits in the prototypical character point of what I'm looking for in terms of a leader. He did not live up to his expectations as a player.''

Dorsey went on to say that Britt "may have a higher opinion of himself than I have of him as a player, so I thought that was easy.''

Britt, who spent most of the season in Hue Jackson's doghouse, cleared waivers on Monday and was signed by the Patriots to a two-year deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Britt signed for the prorated minimum of $900,000 this season -- which amounts to about $158,800 for three game checks -- and $1.5 million next year with a chance to make another $2 million in incentives.

As everyone knows, one man's trash is another man's treasure, and Britt, 29, spent his entire season in Jackson's doghouse after Sashi Brown signed him to a four-year deal worth $32.5 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed, which he received this season.

That means Britt pocketed more than $583,333 for each of his 18 receptions this season. He also totaled 233 yards and two TDs.

Jackson also refuted an NFL Network report that Britt asked for his release.

"That didn't happen,'' Jackson said. "I can clarify that for sure.''

Dorsey, who also said that the previous regime 'did not get real players,' warned that other moves are on the horizon. He's already tinkered with the back end of the roster this week, and he's wasting no time.

"(We) made a couple of moves this week,'' he said. "Who knows? I may make a couple of moves in the weeks to follow as well. Let's be real, we're 0-13, so let's get this thing rolling.''

Britt got on Jackson's bad side early on in the season, and the coach called him in and challenged him to step up as leader of the young receiving corps. Instead, Britt missed curfew in Houston along with Corey Coleman, and the two were sent home before the game the next morning, at their own expense

Britt also dressed for the Vikings game in London, but didn't play a snap. Jackson said it was a coach's decision and not related to injury.

But Britt, who was loud and disruptive in the locker room while reporters tried to conduct interviews with other players including the occasional expletive, has gone from an 0-13 to the defending Super Bowl champions, who are 10-3 and headed to the playoffs, and possibly the Super Bowl again.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Let's actually think about this for a moment. When Britt came here, there was no Josh Gordon. There was nothing said about when or even if he would return. There was only Corey Coleman who hadn't really shown much of anything at that point. Britt's situation with the Browns was #2 WR at worse and possibly the #1 WR if Coleman didn't develop or continued to have injury issues.

Coleman got healthy and suddenly Gordon is back. At that point Britt is looking at the #3 WR option at best. And with Njoku improving, possibly the #4 target at best.

The situation for Britt suddenly turned for the worse. It's not that difficult to see. Gordon plays his second week, Bitt's outlook goes from the #1 or #2 target, to the #4 and #4 target and people want to blame it on hue? With Gordon back and Coleman healthy, why wouldn't he want to go elsewhere?

People really need to get a firm grasp of the obvious situation rather than try to find people to blame. Now he's on a team in much need at the WR position and his targets should go up. That's what any WR would want.

He certainly has more hope to accomplish it in N.E. who dorsn't have a WR like Gordon and a young, talented kid like Coleman. Between those two and Njoku, Britt is pretty much the #4 target here. And actually, you could add Duke to that group which would make him the overall #5 target here.

They have Brandin Cooks ... Hogan and a dude named Gronk ... they also have Lewis, white and Burkhead coming out of the backfield ...

So going by your theory he’s 7th in NE ... and u could also throw Amendola in there and make him 8th ...

He was only 5th or 6th here .... wink

We'll see. But one thing I doubt anybody would question. A player in the NFL would much rather be on the Patriots roster than the Browns roster.

That's why when people say we shouldn't overpay FA's it's pure BS.

Firstly, every team overpays for FA's. And secondly, most players would rather play anywhere than the Browns. If we want them, we have to overpay them.

enny Britt - WR - Patriots

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports new Patriots WR Kenny Britt is expected to be active Week 15 against the Steelers.

With Chris Hogan (shoulder) not expected to play, Britt will be active less than a week after signing with New England. After showing little effort in Cleveland, Britt turning around his season in New England would be a very Patriots outcome. Still, he is not worth a look in fantasy this week.
