Does that matter right now? All that matters is what happens when people see the money going into their checks.

rofl I pity the Foos..Yeah give em a little until 2020 then start pulling the rug out. And anyone lowering their fed withholding amount in 2018 is wicked foolish. And when your state taxes go up to cover the dept the feds laid on them, the middle class will be paying a lot more overall. Not to mention the cost healthcare is going through the roof faster now since the mandate is eliminated. And then the millions of people who pay a lot more than $10,000 a year in real estate taxes are getting the shaft.

This is a loser for the middle class plain and simple. Trump wasn't lying when he said everyone is getting a big Christmas present. Many American's are getting a big chunk of Trumps dirty stinking coal.

It's impostor. And I'm betting Swish won't rip on your multitude of spelling blunders.

Please, you are the biggest grammar police on here, meanwhile you have been called out about it numerous times. BTW, "it's impostor" is not a sentence rofl

But go ahead and try to belittle a typo with an incomplete sentence.

The moment you pulled the grammar police card is the moment your opinion means very little.

J/C to get back to topic before I was rudely interrupted.

Tax policy center states that 80% of americans will have a tax cut. only 5% of Americans will see an increase in their taxes.

Millions of people - you mean the rich.....so you want to keep a provision that benefits SOLEY the wealthy of the country......ohhhh it has nothing to do with that fact, it has every time to do with the fact that those wealthy people typically live in elitist leftist estates. How are they getting the shaft BTW? If they can afford a house that has 10K property tax bill, SURELY they can PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE of that tax.....the hypocrisy of the left is astounding. You denounce tax breaks for the rich in this bill, yet are mad when they get rid of a tax break for the rich lol.

Good then when a portion of the country refuses to pay their federal tax until the POTUS proves that he does, will have a talking point.

You know the tax plan has changed drastically in the past week, right? Also tax cuts on the middle class expire in ~7 years while tax cuts for the top brackets and corporations are permanent. I know Republicans don't care about the future, but to ignore it completely is irresponsible.

Not to mention that the tax cut creates $1.5t in debt

I pulled the grammar police because your twin over there bashes people left and right when they have a spelling error, while posting them himself.

I would go on record to say I have more errors than anyone on here actually, as I am typically posting from a phone at work.

The mandate was removed. That tax provision sent millions to healthcare providers and AHC insurance exchanges. Not anymore. Your healthcare cost will go up even higher because of the removal of that tax provision, just saying.

My parents are not rich, they are middle class, elderly, on a fixed income and pay 18,000 a year in Cincinnati, Ohio real estate taxes. There are millions of others just like my parents paying more. I talked to my dad last night, he's not enjoying the Christmas present from the GOP, and he's a staunch republican through to the core. He's Po'ed big time. I simply told him we deserve the leaders we voted for. He hung up, saying "never again".

You must be happy to ship all this kickback cash to Corker and Co. This is a lousy bill that despite name calling by you and others doesn't represent me. I have never seen this trickle down approach work. Rushed and private means we must be ashamed of it.

Let's make the national debt a corporate responsibility since we are shoveling a lot of fresh debt to "keep a promise" to a minority constituency.

Time to vote your conscience. Kickbacks for Corker is easy to remember. Apparently carried interest is not at all remembered though promised. I feel cheated.

Just got this email from Bernie's organization. More truth.:

Bernie Sanders

The wealthy and powerful in this country have never had it so good.

While the very rich get richer and the middle class shrinks, the Republican majority has passed a deeply unpopular tax bill that would make income and wealth inequality much worse. This legislation, at the end of ten years, would provide 83 percent of the tax benefits to the top 1 percent and the largest corporations. Incredibly, 60 percent of the benefits would go to the top 1/10th of one percent. Meanwhile, by 2027, taxes on 92 million middle class households would increase. Further, 13 million people will lose their health insurance and premiums on the individual market will increase by 10 percent.

Having passed this horrific legislation, the Republican leadership now wants to shut down Congress and head home for the Christmas break.

Well, I respectfully disagree.

Maybe, just maybe, before Congress adjourns for the holidays they should pay attention to the needs of the working families of our country and not just the billionaire class.

Maybe, just maybe, before Congress goes home they might want to address the incredible anxiety that some 800,000 Dreamers are facing who are on the verge of losing their legal status, and face the possibility of deportation. Can you imagine being 20 years old, having spent virtually your entire life in the United States, and now worrying about being forced out of the only country you have ever known because of Trump's incredibly ugly decision to repeal DACA? Despicable.

Congress must act NOW to protect the Dreamers.

The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Community Health Centers, whose funding expired on September 30, must be reauthorized and fully funded. Before Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan shut down Congress for the holiday season tens of millions of Americans and their kids must be guaranteed that they will not be thrown off of the health insurance they currently have.

Congress must act NOW to protect health care for children and working families.

If Congress does not act now, 1.5 million workers and retirees in multi-employer pension plans could lose the pensions they were promised by up to 60 percent. People who have worked their entire lives for guaranteed pensions should not be forced to live in poverty because Congress broke the promise it made to them.

Congress must act NOW to protect the earned pensions of 1.5 million American workers.

While members of Congress return home for holiday celebrations, many people in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands will not be able to turn on their Christmas lights because they continue to have no electricity as a result of the devastation caused by the recent hurricanes. Congress must pass significant disaster relief to help the people of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Texas and Florida.

Congress must act NOW to provide financial disaster assistance to those communities hit hard by recent natural disasters.

Sisters and brothers: Our message is simple. Congress cannot simply close shop, go home and leave millions of working people in desperate anxiety.

Please send a message to Speaker Ryan and Senate Leader McConnell. Sign my petition telling them don't shut down Congress for the holidays until you address the pressing needs of the American people. Don't give tax breaks to billionaires while ignoring the suffering of working families.

Thank you for making your voice heard. The struggle continues.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders

Maybe your parents should vote a republican to represent them and lower their property taxes. I would bet in cincy the dems they voted in are the ones who raised them . . . .

I'm single, own a home (well, the bank does, but you get my point) with no kids, live in a high cost state, and I'm lucky to have a good salary. I'd guess if I were labeled, I'd be considered upper middle class.

If I keep my house, I'll be about $1500 worse off after tax. Flip side, if I sell my house, I'll be about $3500 better off after tax.

Just for informational purposes the interest deduction being capped at $10k means a home purchase at 4% for 30 years is capped at $252k, at 5% is 202k, and at 6% is $168k (interest based on year 1). Zillow says the average home price in the US is $203k.

I just saw a snip-it on the news saying the property tax deduction is going away but an increased child credit is being added. That sucks for me.

Well if people in your area want higher property, state and local taxes, they are certainly free to vote for those who will give them exactly that.

With Tax Reform, AT&T Plans to Increase U.S. Capital Spending $1 Billion and Provide $1,000 Special Bonus to more than 200,000 U.S. Employees

Today, Congress approved legislation representing the first comprehensive tax reform in a generation. The President is expected to sign the bill in the coming days.

Once tax reform is signed into law, AT&T* plans to invest an additional $1 billion in the United States in 2018 and pay a special $1,000 bonus to more than 200,000 AT&T U.S. employees — all union-represented, non-management and front-line managers. If the President signs the bill before Christmas, employees will receive the bonus over the holidays.

Due to a major influx of cash for AT&T as result of eliminating net neutrality in 2018. Not as a result of GOP's corporate welfare bill. Which the middle class will be paying for.

My health care went up from $3000 a year pre ACA to over $10000 a year....up until the insurance company decided playing the ACA game was not worth it anymore. So I aint too worried about some stupid mandate repeal.

I know you will ignore the first part of this post....

Your GOP leaders just said they don't care about your healthcare costs and will let it continue to skyrocket without trying to fix it.

So now when the democrats say the first order of business in 2019 is to repeal the Orangutan tax bill instead of fixing it don't get all butt hurt over it, thank you.

Going to try and do the unthinkable here and try and be objective:

Pros: It appears that most Americans will get a tax break. On its face, that is a good thing. The tax brackets went down for everyone. People will feel differently about it, but the mandate for health insurance is gone, which is very controversial. I, for one, was not a fan of it. I do recognize, though, that something has to be done across the board to bring down medical costs for all. It's asinine to see how expensive all the charges are on a medical bill. That is something that has to be fixed. The mandate addressed the symptom, but not the sickness.

It's also a positive that the doom and gloom provisions that were originally proposed did not make it through to the passed version.

Cons: This is not good for the deficit. At all. There is really no debating that.

This will exaggerate the wealth gap. All philosophies and politics aside, a wealth gap that we have in our country with a weakening middle class is a repeated historical sign of bad things to come. I'm not suggesting it has to be addressed through taxes purely, but I don't suspect this will help the wealth gap at all.

We still have the issue of how this will negatively affect people in terms of health care. This ties into the mandate portion. While I was against the mandate, it was a solution, not a great one, but one nonetheless. Something has to be done to address healthcare costs.

Opening the floor for objective, thoughtful discussion...(I know that won't happen, but I had to try).

Corporations do it, calling it lobbying. According to the law corporations are people too. So why can’t Rosie? Or any other person do it?
It’s obvious our government is open for business. Just look at the recent tax bill and who funded congress to pass it.

So now its ok to openly try to bribe elected officials? Nice!

Corporations do it, calling it lobbying. According to the law corporations are people too. So why can’t Rosie? Or any other person do it?
It’s obvious our government is open for business. Just look at the recent tax bill and who funded congress to pass it.
Last I checked her twitter was not listed as a corporation, nor registered to abide by campaign finance laws. So your analogy is thin to say the least. If she would like to register as a lobbyist by all means, however she is not. So she is breaking laws. Next.
