Good decision, dumb to play when you are almost a lock to be drafted 1 or 2. I wouldn't throw or go to the combine if I were him. I would do my pro day and that's it.

He should definitely go to the combine. Participating is a whole different thing entirely.

UCLA star QB Josh Rosen will sit out the Bruins' Cactus Bowl game against Kansas State Tuesday under doctor's orders, multiple sources have told SI Saturday afternoon.

According to a UCLA source, Rosen wanted to play but the medical staff doesn’t want him to play in this game because they didn’t want him to risk having another concussion so close to the last one.

The junior quarterback has been in concussion protocol since getting injured late in the season. Rosen sustained a concussion against Washington on Oct. 28 and then sat out the following game. He was also banged up and sat out the second half of the Bruins' regular-season finale against Cal on Nov. 24.

Rosen threw for 3,756 yards this season and had a 26–10 TD–INT ratio. He is expected to be a top-10 draft pick in the spring.

The news that Rosen is going to sit out of the bowl game was first reported by Bruin Report Online.

A source close to Rosen this weekend said the QB will not decide whether he’s leaving for the NFL draft after this season until after the bowl game.

Josh Rosen prefers Giants over Browns, would hesitate to enter draft if Cleveland commits to him

By Adam Schefter
ESPN

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen would prefer to play for the Giants over the Browns and would be hesitant to come out in next year's NFL draft if he knew that Cleveland was going to take him with the No. 1 overall pick, according to league sources familiar with the situation.

This is hardly the first time that a player has expressed concern about landing in Cleveland, though that will not dissuade new Browns general manager John Dorsey from taking the player he believes is the best fit for his franchise.

Privately, Rosen has expressed concern about winding up in Cleveland and would rather be with a more stable franchise, such as the Giants.

Rosen plans to sit down with his parents after the Cactus Bowl for a "serious conversation" before making a final decision about whether to turn pro. Whether Cleveland has the No. 1 overall pick could influence his decision, according to a source.

The Browns (0-14) can secure the top overall pick Sunday with a loss to the Chicago Bears or a victory by the Giants (2-12) over the Arizona Cardinals. New York would clinch no worse than the No. 2 pick with losses in each of its last two games.

ESPN analysts Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have Rosen as the top-rated draft-eligible quarterback. Kiper has Rosen going fourth overall in his latest Big Board. McShay has him going No. 1 overall in his latest Top 32.

Rosen said Saturday that he remains in the concussion protocol but still is hoping to play for the Bruins in Tuesday's Cactus Bowl against Kansas State.

Rosen sustained his second concussion of the season in UCLA's regular-season-closing victory against California. He has practiced every day this week, according to interim coach Jedd Fisch, and continues to be monitored by doctors, who have yet to clear him to play.

Not sure I want Rosen if this is true. On the other hand, it is Schefter and his "anonymous league sources". This [stuff] sure is getting old. I wish LaCanfora and Schefter would ease off the low-hanging fruit and find a different team to be their piñata. (How's that for a mixed metaphor?)

Yeah Dave,I saw this too. Its probably true.

I mean face it, as a Qb drafted by the Browns you have a year to play decent before the fans and news media turn on you and toss you in the trash...we have not shown the ability to patience to develop a guy.

it takes 2-3 years before a QB really knows whats going on...i highly doubt we given Rosen that kinda time.

I won't be one bit suprised that Darnold and Rosen both return to school for another year.

In my opinion, Schefter isn't that guy. LaCanfora certainly is, but not Schefter. If he's reporting it, I'm concerned.

I wouldn't draft any QB who wants to play for the Browns. Especially before they meet anyone on the organization.

Not real concerned. There's a better option than Rosen.

I wonder if we could see another draft and swap ala Manning/Rivers with Rosen/Mayfield? Might be moot if Browns Giants draft 1-2.

Schefter has been a pretty reliable source but normally I don't pay these types of "reports" any heed.

The players, their families and agents will sift through all the factors and make a decision. It's business.

But when the time comes to be a number one pick not many will turn their nose.

At some point Rosen and his people will meet Haslam and the the Browns management.

I would hope that Rosen would just look at the opportunity, and figure out that although the Browns have been bad they can improve like any other team if they make the right decisions.

Anyone worth their salt is saying, "I'm the guy".
And, IF you ARE the guy you own the city of Cleveland. More than JimBrown, more than Bernie and more than LeBron. You turn the Browns around you are truly THE Man.

Sounds like Rosen is not up to the challenge and if this is true he's a weak individual. If he doesn't want to be here, then screw him, he's an instant bum to me. Don't want him.

Maybe before you pass judgement you should look for verifiable proof that he actually said what is being "reported".

Yeah, God knows anyone who isn't excited about being drafted by a team that's 1-31 over the past two years, that goes through coaches and FO's like babies go through diapers is a weak individual. Wait, maybe that isn't it? lmao

Or maybe since there is no quote from him or his family they've never actually said that.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If so it's not very wise. If I'm ANY GM I'm looking at this kids mettle.
He's most likely going to one of the three or four worst teams regardless of when he decalres. IF he said this, which I see no evidence he did, it's kind of a dumb move on his part. I get it, but it's dumb.

First of all. it is "reported" he said this

and if he said this ? so what?

If someone asked me if I would rather play in NY or play in Cleveland, I would pick NYC too if I wasnt from Cleveland and had no connection to want to be here.

Don't blame him one bit, the entire franchise is a turd tornado. I feel sorry for the players, most have been drafted into this hell. We, on the other hand, are just plain stupid for continually hanging around.

If I were coming out in the draft, I would want to avoid the Browns like the plague.

Unless I'm a 4th round or later draft pick. Cleveland loves those.

His latest moves show that he is learning from his mistakes.

He just arranged a forced marriage of coach and GM and has both reporting to him. What could possibly go wrong.

Over the years we haven't always been on the same page but on these two points we are:

1. Haslam is the root of the issues.
2. We will never win until we have a franchise QB. I've been saying this for 15 years.

If you and I could figure out point #2, and I'm sure we've both had that figured out for the last 15 years, why couldn't our Harvard educated lawyer?

Like I said in another thread, what Sashi did is criminal. He should be tried. It's one thing to not be in position to get the guy, but to be in position multiple times and purposely go in another direction is incompetence at a level that is almost incomprehensible.

Honestly, I don't know who was worse, Sashi or Farmer. They both did so much damage with their decision making it's mind boggling.

The Browns have a new, experienced GM, with a track record of success, and a ton of capital to use to improve the team. They can add 4-7 impact players, through the draft and free agency.

That's what I tell every potential addition to this team. This can be a quick turnaround, because of the foundation, and the assets in place.

Remember when Myles Garrett wanted to play for the Cowboys?

Sashi wasn't the problem.

If this is true? It sucks.

I am more worried about his head. He has had at least 2 concussions in his college career. With each concussion you get, the next one becomes easier. I see frequent concussions in his future and that is what worries me more than anything.

Am I perfect? No
Am I trying to be a better person?
Also no
