Agreed. If we want a QB, must get them at 1. Don't play cute. If we value Barkley over Mayfield, fine. But don't expect Mayfield at 4. We can def get one of Rosen, Allen, or Mayfield at four (if we select Barkley). But if there's one we prefer, we'd have to select them at 1. Anything else would be stupid

I think the most interesting option is Bridgewater.

Only Bridgewater and Cousins would preclude drafting a QB at 1. Haslam will not pay for Cousins.

There are only so many winning caliber NFL QBs. I think there a total of 6 I'd be willing to try and go get this offseason via FA/trade/draft: Garoppolo, Cousins, Keenum, Alex Smith, Rosen, Josh Allen.

That's it. And Allen won't be ready to start day 1 like the other 5. If we don't get one of those 6 - we're having this exact same discussion next January.

As soon as the game ended my first thought was literally - get used to that feeling Baker. You'll get to experience plenty of it next year in Cleveland.

The simple fact is that there are about 10 teams that could possibly draft a QB in the first round. Some will be for development.

There are 5 or so that will go. I only see Bridgewater going in as a starter. Possibly Smith or Manning, depending on what those teams do.

So you better get when you have the opportunity.

There aren't that many teams that will be able to afford Cousins. The 49ers just took themselves out of the equation with JG. Out of the other teams with a QB need that could afford him, we have the most ammunition to improve.

I haven't watched much of Mayfield (college ball isn't that interesting to me). What makes Mayfield so good? Please don't say "he's a winner!".

Leadership, terrific arm strength, accuracy, he can read the defense, great passer, very good pocket awareness, and excellent under pressure. He's a two time walk on and only walk on Heisman winner. He is a football first player and does the things necessary to be a winner.

What is he not good at?
