I wanted him to be the HC when we hired Hue lol He wouldn't fit here. According to Pit nothing on this team is rocket science.

Pet deserved to be fired. The one coach that got away was Chud. I liked Chud too. Looking into our past, the only regime that we could make a case for was the Butch Davis regime, and even in that case, most can argue that it was a good firing. I also liked Chud and his staff...

Its a weird situation...the front office didn't hide the fact that they were doing a complete rebuild. Stripping it down to bear bones and building through the draft.
The front office made it clear that "Hey look, this is gonna hurt...but we are going to rip the band aid off".
They rip the band aid off.
And people are pissed because it hurts. Even though they were warned.
You were right Vers in saying that the process of stripping down in this type of rebuild was too drastic. I think people expected the team to be in serious condition, not critical condition. I agree with both of you that the tear down was far too drastic.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Yet people continue to try and make it so.

Well, Marv just signed a contract extension through 2020. Right. I think he'll be gone after next season. I think they only signed him to an extension because the other two guys they wanted (Jay Gruden and Hue Jackson) were retained. I'd bet against that as I highly doubt it. If there is one owner who likes to see contracts all the way through, it's Mike Brown. Some might call it loyalty. I think it's more of his fickle nature and hatred of dead money. I'd guess that Lewis is either given some sort of front office job or resigns.

Mike Brown hates to re-do a budget. Marvy Marv being kept surprised me.
I give Hue this year and some real talent pickups, and he better produce. This is that selfsame next year we have been waiting for perhaps.

Seahawks fired OL coach Tom Cable.
The Seahawks are cleaning house after missing the postseason for the first time in six years. They've already parted ways with four of their assistants including OC Darrell Bevell, DC Kris Richard, QBs coach Carl Davis and now Cable. Seattle's offensive line was among the league's worst this year, consistently failing to protect Russell Wilson while also opening up few holes in the running game. Personnel was an issue but obviously Cable didn't do enough with the pieces he was given. He had been with the Seahawks since 2011.

This is a coach we should hire. He's been forced to constantly put together a OL with converted D lineman, chewing gum & retreads & still got it done. This yr. was absolutely the worst, poor draft choices, practice squad fill ins & injury. Very good OL coach.

As NFL Czar and QB-OC match maker i decree Tyrod Taylor and Darrel Bevell They hired Tom Cable and their defensive coordinator, Kris Richard, too. I read that Pete Carroll hadn't fired anyone since 2009 or something like that.

Bet he'd do much better here. 5 out of 11 offensive players are linemen, he's a top quality coach

I don't think we need an OL coach. Wylie is good.

The Seahawks drafted an offensive linemen in the second round in 2017 and the first round in 2016. They also traded for Duane Brown and signed Luke Joeckel. Their center was picked in the second round in 2014. Tom Cable failed miserably with the Seahawks.

I don't think we need an OL coach. Wylie is good. I thought we could have been better at running the ball. Especially in the beginning of the season. Just what I saw.......... And I normally wouldn't want to let go of Wylie. But Tom Cable is a big-name coach, well regarded, fiery. I think he'd benefit the offense a lot more than just as the O-Line Coach. Almost like an assistant coordinator.

Seattle's OL has been perhaps the worst in the entire NFL. I hope we don't make that move and I doubt we will.

I'm shocked as a Browns fan that you use a players draft status as a measure of his ability.
-LT Dwayne Brown, Still good, 32 yrs. old, came in in week 11, played injured. -LG Luke Joeckel, Drafted # 2 overall as a LT, 5th yr. option not picked up, URFA, playing LG -C Justin Britt, Drafted as a LG, played 16 games RT as a rookie. -RG Ethan Pocic, Drafted as a C, looks good. -RT Germain Ifedi, Drafted 31 overall as a T, played RG as a rookie for 13 games, Garbage. -LT, their original starting LT was a converted Basketball player & got hurt. His name escapes me.
I don't care where they were drafted, talent wise, far from good.

Thanks.
I know he caught a lot of grief on here, but I always thought he was a good coach. Our previous FO really didn't value that part of the team. A lot of good Special Team's players were released and we had guys like Louis out there who didn't even want to tackle.
Oh well........not a huge loss, but I would have preferred he remained.

I don't think the Raiders are racially biased.

I'm shocked as a Browns fan that you use a players draft status as a measure of his ability. You said Tom Cable was given nothing to work with. At one point that was true. The past couple years they gave him a lot to work with and he did nothing.

8 different OL combinations in 2017, tough on any coach.
Moot point anyway, I hear he's joining Jon Gruden's staff.

The Bears hired Mark Helfich as their offensive coordinator. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/951462539522699264Great move. If I was running an NFL team he would have been the first call I made to be offensive coordinator. He's innovative, but without the Chip Kelly weirdness. Of course John Dorsey allegedly was going to consider Matt Nagy as our head coach and he's the guy who ends up hiring Helfrich. I would guess Helfrich is an NFL head coach or big time college head coach within two years.

Adam Henry replaced Sean Ryan, the guy we interviewed for our offensive coordinator position yesterday, on the Giants. He also worked with Hue Jackson in Oakland in 2010 and 2011.

ANybody hear how the Ryan and Zampese interviews went? It's been radio silent so far. My guess is that they are negotiating terms with Sean Ryan (contract, playcalling, etc.) and if they can't come to an agreement Ken Zampese will be named the offensive coordinator.
