My suggestion is we change the name "school" to "uterus". I believe that it may cause Republicans to care a lot more about the children who die inside them.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
So there is no middle ground? No discussion? You go straight to rhetoric an agenda that no-one actually has put forth?
Why would you use Chicago as an example? Chicago doesn't work - why would you want to repeat that?
Here's an honest question - a few months ago I was at a friends place in the country and I was firing a Barrett 50mm sniper rifle. Legally. . . . what is the justification for that weapon to be legal? It was fun as hell to shoot. But I personally wouldn't want that weapon to be legal in any state. Why is it necessary to legally own that?
The more things change the more they stay the same.

The gun you're talking about fires a bullet that has a 12.7mm diameter (.50 BMG). Just thought I'd clarify that for others.
Its a gun that fires a bullet that would tear a man's arm off at 1000 yards. It's a military sniper rifle. Made across the border from me in TN I believe.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
FBI was informed that Florida shooter Nikolas Cruz spoke of his desire to kill people and was stockpiling guns SIX WEEKS before massacre - and did not investigate or tell Miami office
But to say why even mention it is kind of silly. If he had attended an AL Qaeda meeting , would that be worth mentioning? Of course it would be .
Yes it was ony one meeting(that we know of ) but it gives insight into the mentality of the murderer. If he actually ,physically attended one meeting. How much other time did he spend researching, reading about it . How much time did he spend chatting with members?
Or, how about we find out facts - FACTS, before posting rumor?
I know they're still investigating, but the guy responsible for this allegation is even walking it back.

That might help.. but it would be countered by the democrats allowing you to kill the students for your own convenience and no fear of punishment... but you could only kill them up until the 3rd grade.

Or it may actually consider some Dems to reconsider their stand on abortion.
My point is that you can't have it both ways. That includes Dems and the GOP.

What did u mean by ...
MORE GUNS and LESS REGULATION??? ...
Ya ... i thought so ...

Chicago was a PERFECT EXAMPLE ... u want more regs and less guns .. well chi-town has as tough of gun laws as their is in the country yet its a shooting gallery from sunset friday night til sunrise Monday morning ... .... like i said .. PERFECT EXAMPLE ...
Maybe u thinks its a bad example cause it blows what u want all to hell ...

The same reason its legal to own any gun .. cause as of now it’s legal ... u want to ask what purpose does it serve ... thats a different question ... u ain’t gonna like the answer but i’ll be more than happy to answer the questions u ask ...
Here’s one for u ..
How many murders (total murders .. not just mass murders even though thats the topic of discussion here) would banning those sniper rifles have prevented?
I'm not an advocate for gun control. But under your scenario, if you have a weapon with 15 round clips verses weapons with 30 round clips I believe the death toll would be less.
30 round clips give a shooter twice as many rounds per clip to run up the casualty count as a 15 round pistol would. So yeah, in a mass shooting situation I think smaller clips would cut down on the body count.

I can't say that I necessarily agree with this sentiment. A 30 round magazine is larger, heavier to carry and wield around and at best only saves someone who's been practicing, a few seconds switching magazines. If the shooter has half a brain they don't shoot the last round in their rifle anyway and that saves them the time it takes to recharge the weapon.
If you start with one in the chamber and load 15 into a magazine, shoot 15 and the final round is loaded into the chamber, no recharge. You've only lost the time it takes to drop a mag on the floor (we'll assume you're not being thrifty and picking it up) grab one from your pocket, vest or waistband and shove it in. Mere seconds.
Here's a quick, practical demonstration by two guys, one familiar with his weapon and the other, not so much.
My personal preference is a 20 round mag. Nice weight and doesn't hang down as far.
We need a Fife law. You can buy all the guns you want but if you are incompetent then you are only allowed one bullet and you have to keep it in your pocket until there is an emergency.
So you believe the body count would be the same using a weapon with the clip holding half as much ammo. Good to know.
It sounds more like you're avoiding that point rather than addressing it. We're in a thread discussing school shootings. So you don't think the weapon of choice in these shootings having 30 round clips rather than a weapon with a clip with half the capacity makes any difference.
Or would you like another try?

Do you guys believe the body count would have been the same if we did a better job of identifying mental health issues and getting those people the proper help?
Our Sheriff in Volusia County just arrested a 14 yr old male student for joking about shooting up a school. Charged him with 1 felony and 1 misdemeanor. Chitwood is not playing....send a message Sheriff

At this time, even the law enforcement can't find any link - well, other than jordan jereb saying it.
How many times are you going to change the qualifications on what can be said? because you said it shouldnt even be mentioned . It was discussed as a report . Like I said, if it was reported that he attended an AL Qaeda meeting , would it be worth mentioning?
I dont know Arch, you seem to be getting awfully defensive about this terrorist getting linked to some white supremacy groups.

Ah! PERFECT!
There is no proof he was a member of rof, or that he even attended a meeting. The only person that has said that is backing down. (as of now, that is)
Yet, it was reported, and people ran with it, with no proof.
You, sir, are trying in vain, with this statement

to paint me in a bad light.
Doesn't matter if it's true or not, does it? You put it out there so people could run with it.
I'm not a terrorist, nor am I a white supremacist.
You, on the other hand, appear to be doubling down on some unproven info. It seems to me you really want to believe the guy was a white supremacist when no proof of that exists.
I can no longer stand idly by. You (republicans) can tell me the globe is not warming. You can tell me we need tax breaks for the wealthiest. These are arguments we can debate, not this one.
I'm coming after your guns, not all of them. Just enough of them to stop this conversation.
This cannot be the product of a civil and world war. Can't do it, won't do it

daytnabacker...Your Sheriff, Mike Chitwood and I have a similar approach to the problem of keeping kids safe at school. ...first- schools cannot wait on the "politicians" to do anything constructive to protect students.
Chitwood's remark:
Quote:
If you're waiting for politicians in Tallahassee or Washington to end this cycle of bloodshed in our schools, good luck. Keep waiting. We have seen plenty of lip service but no action. There is no reason for us to stop wondering if a school in our town is next.
To face the threat, schools need "real security"..security backed up with the firepower in the hands of a qualified security force that can match the threat.
Chitwood said:
Quote:
With that reality in mind, I say we train and deputize certain school employees to protect our children. These "special deputies" should go through extensive training every year and be authorized to carry concealed firearms.
When a school is attacked by some AR-15 armed nutjob, we look for WHAT WENT WRONG?...even though the answer is obvious..schools do not have a last line of defense to protect our students. Our students are nothing more than "unarmed targets" waiting to be shot by some "nutjob" who got their hands on a gun.
Sheriff Chitwood's comment:
Quote:
These men and women may be the last line of defense of our innocent kids. I want them trained and equipped with more than pencils. We can't stand idly by and do nothing. We've done that for years. Enough. Let's stop waiting for Washington and do something to protect our children.
I believe Sheriff Chitwood realizes that any security plan will have weak points where a suspect can fall through the cracks. But a breakdown in any plan should not be a sentence to death for our unarmed students.
Each school must have a "last line of defense" that will stop any threat. Armed guards who are qualified and trained to use maximum force, are needed.
Also, entrance points into the school must be controlled so a weapon cannot be taken into the school. We use metal detectors at airports and at our courthouse, to insure a safe environment inside, past those checkpoints...
...why not use metal detectors, limited access points, backed up by armed guards...to reassure students that they are safe at school?

I know that seeing as you find Disneyland too scary, you probably won't step foot in Chicago, but Chicago gets it's guns from Indiana.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

We've reached the "people will break laws, so don't bother making laws" portion of the program.
(And Chicago's gun violence is due to racial and financial segregation, if anyone's wondering)
