I used to not like Kid Rock, but this song I kinda like:

Ugggh. I'd listen to his wannabe rap music over his wannabe rock music, which often comes with rap-like classic-rock sampling.

One of the biggest music-related disappointments ever for me will be my man, Bob Seger, trying to further legitimize this clown.

Growing up my little sister was a big Debbie Gibson fan. This song played in a loop for what felt like a decade one summer. I came to loathe it. Which in turn I believe inspired my sister to play it more. At one point I counted the words ‘shake’ or ‘shake your love’ 55 times in the song. FIFTY FIVE TIMES!!! So I eventually stated treating my sister to my version every time she’d play it. I’d sing ‘shake your love 55 times. Shake your love 54 times..... Just can’t shake your love 53 times.” And on and on. Oh the battles we fought. I love my sister. smile
I still hate most 80’s music.

Country. I can deal with/respect proper old school country as the white man's blues, but even then it isn't my go to genre. Not in the slightest. But, the current Country Pop that they sell as "country" these days is just...dreadful.

Same with a lot of the auto tuned pop stuff that sells millions and sells out soulless basketball arenas. Total garbage!

E'rbody gonna hate on me tonight.

"Escape," by Rupert Holmes.

Yes, you do know it- I promise you. No, you're wrong... you DO-
oh, hell....

"If you like Pina Coladas...."

told you.

Now go ahead and hate on me 'cuz:
1. that puppy turned on in your head before you finished the quote
2. It will be at least 18 hours before the tape loop self-destructs.

That was indeed evil, but inspirational as well.

I will see your Pina Colada and raise you an Ooga Chaka.

Along that same vein, I hate "Patches" mightily. I also hate "Tammy." These two guarantee a station switch.

This thread is a delight.

I tried to keep it specific to actual songs but if I were to go broad, this is exactly what I would say. Modern, main-stream country is worse than garbage.

And there's a ton of crap pop. My wife & kids will put it on a modern pop station and I want to turn it almost immediately.

YES! "And the wind cried Mary." That part always reminds me of the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll. My favorite part is the, "Co-Co-Co-Come back Ho-WEE!" Taking me back!

Speaking of Pink Floyd, has anyone ever watched the Wizard of Oz, while listening to Dark Side of the Moon? I swear that Floyd made that album to coincide with the movie. There are just too many similarities for it to be a coincidence. For example, "noone told you when to run," plays when Dorothy runs away and the music gets all hectic when the storm begins. When Dorothy opens the door to Oz and the movie goes to color, the cash machines for Money start kicking in. During Us and Them when it says, "black and blue and who knows which is which," the movie is panning between the good witch and wicked witch. When Dorothy listens for the tin man's heart there is a heart beat playing. Also, when it says, "got to keep the loonies on the path," Dorothy is trying to keep the scarecrow on the yellow brick road. There are a lot more, but it's been a really long time. To do it you have to start the album right before the lions third roar on the MGM screen before the movie. I think the album plays about 2 1/2 times, but I always had trouble keeping it synced up after the first playthrough. Definitely something fun to do with a good buzz on,on a Saturday night

To the topic at hand. Someone mentioned in an earlier post that they are sick of listening to the same songs on the radio and wished they'd play some B-sides... Hallelujah, and lay your hands upon the radio! I wholeheartedly agree.

You put on a 97.5 or 98.5 after the morning show and I guarantee that within an hour you will hear Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd. Floyd is great, but it doesn't always have to be Young Lust or Learning to Fly. I love a lot of these bands, but there is only so many times I can listen to Sweet Home Alabama. How about Four Walls of Raiford or Comin' Home. I can hear the program directors saying, "if we played other cuts, we couldn't sell advertising." BULLSPIT! People listen to the station because it is their style and the bands have stood somewhat of a test of time. Also, it might broaden some horizons, you might hate Slowride, but dang after hearing the live version of Honey Hush, you might reconsider your stance on Foghat. If the songs are clean and you can fit it in between ad time, PLAY IT!

Someone might say, "Well listen to Satellite radio. There is a station called Deep Tracks that goes beyond the singles." To that person I say, "your mouth was made to suck my kiss." Those stations are on a 6 hour loop. Why, oh why lord, if a typical work day is 8 hours long would you program music in 6 hour repetitive loops. It boggles the mind and bedazzles the booty. I guess the average listener only tunes in for 8 minutes at a time, but if you set the station and try to get you groove on while being productive, you aren't going to stop what you're doing to change the channel all the time. It's all going to heck anyway; pretty soon it will boil down to a choice between one station in New York and one in L.A., both of which will pipe the same crap into your eardrums.

The joke is that you don't get out of the house enough so you've got that much time on your hands so you figure things out like this.

I've heard this for years- never tried it. As I've been told, you must start the album exactly when the lion roars. Gonna try it some day, just for yucks and curiosity.

Anything by Jim Croce.
My older brother fell in love, got married, and went from the Stones,Doors and the Animals to Jim Croce,I've hated his music because of it.

My personnel worse ever recorded is that 16hrs long piece of crap,When the Music Died by that non talented Don McClain.
I would much rather listen to every song mentioned on this thread 3 times over than hear about this no talented hack and his stupid chevy.
I have a real good idea on where he can park that piece of crap, and it isn't on the levy.

Shameful! that anybody listens to opera. thumbsup

I hope Anybody who likes opera gets to listen to it anytime they want. As for me I would rather have my dentist preform a colonoscopy on me than to be forced to suffer through 5 seconds of listening to opera non music.

Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious would agree with you. In fact, all the punks from the mid-70s had an immense distaste for the over blown, bloated rock band/stars of the 70s.

But that was coming from a bunch of guys that could barely play their instruments, while writing albums worth of songs with only three cords, and using yelling into a mic as a replacement for singing or having a vocal range. So coming from that group of punk ‘musicians’, and I use that term VERY cautiously, their dislike for Pink Floyd, and their musical contemporaries, means little.

Love Tom Petty, but Two Gunslingers was head scratchingly bad. Only joy I take is in making fun of it.

True. BUT...even though I don't listen to punk I have 100% respect for any art form that comes in and shakes things up a bit. And lets all admit...by the mid 70s rock music needed shaking up. By 1975 the original "shakers" of the 60s had grown tired, stale and no longer spoke to the younger generation. Plus, England in the mid-70s was a grey, dreary place. The economy was tanking, the unions were striking and eventually it developed into the winter of discontent. Punk was the perfect response.

Honestly, if you've never been comfortably numb then it's understandable to not appreciate the song "Comfortably Numb". rofl

Not a huge fan either btw. Imo on the 1-10 scale? For me a 6.5-ish.
