Having an agent MIGHT, however, make him a better prospect. And, to some degree, having an agent dealing with the contract would definitely help him.
Not being accessible to teams calling? How does that help him?
That's just from what I've read. I'm not a player, not an agent, and I have no dog in the hunt.
I hope his mom can deal with upfront money, signing bonus, guaranteed money, etc.
Hey, for all I know, he may go #1, he may go in the second round. He took a gamble by not having an agent. And agent would take, I believe, 3% of his contract. It might work out for Lamar, it might not, I don't know.

Let’s start with the positives, and we will put aside his elite athleticism and game-breaking ability in space for the moment. This past season Jackson took a big step forward as a passer. The year he won the Heisman there were times that he relied on his legs and vacated clean pockets early. But he was challenged by his coaches this past season to do more as a passer and it showed. In fact, when I broke down all of his interceptions at Inside the Pylon, there was a throw against Wake Forest when he passed up a clear running lane and made a throw instead, and it was intercepted. There is a notion that Jackson was not asked to do much schematically, and I would push back on that a bit. Under Bobby Petrino he was running a variant of the Erhardt-Perkins offense, the system being run in New England right now. This tasked Jackson with making progression reads - sometimes full field - as well as reading coverages and running option/conversion routes. He was also given freedom to make checks and audibles at the line, a good sign for development. He does have flaws. People point to the completion percentage and say he is an inaccurate quarterback. I would posit that he is more of an inconsistent passer, due to the inconsistency in his throwing base. He has a very narrow passing platform, and that can lead to overstriding and poor ball placement. That he does need to fix. On his athleticism, it has become almost a negative during the draft process, as it has allowed people to float the position switch idea. But I would argue that his athleticism is he ultimate motivating factor for an offense, as he can mask protection breakdowns better that other QBs with his ability to escape, coupled with his quick release. For me, he’s a QB with great potential. He might slide in this draft for a variety of reasons, but the team he falls to will be glad he did.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Now if we could just get the NFL to play the game in shorts with no defense on the field.
Or in the rain with a ball cap on in shorts.

Also, we’ve been over the numbers, and the success of the prospects.
What Pit and others keep failing to do is explain why Lamar had better PASSING numbers than every QB but baker mayfield, despite playing with less talent than Rosen and Darnold while playing in a much tougher conference.
Cause I can easily make the case for Lamar without even bringing up his running ability.
Tape don’t lie.

That’s jim mora talking about differences between Lamar and Vick.

There's a bunch of posters that troll visit this thread or comment about Lamar Jackson with no intention of actually engaging in any type of discussion.
So far the only real complaint being thrown around here is that he didn’t hire an agent.
So I’m just trying to figure out how the tape says he’s easily a top 3 QBs prospect in this years drsft, but people want Allen over him.
They even slowed down with the whole “he’ll get hurt running” once it was blatantly shown that the pocket QB got hurt a crap ton more....and Lamar didn’t miss a game.

The agent thing was my complaint.
I try hard to keep my draft evaluations purely on the field. But I let the agent thing change my grade/evaluation of Jackson because I thought it hurt his draft preparation.
When an agent hires someone like Jordan Palmer it really does a ton to get these guys prepared and control their pre-draft narratives.
But, maybe Jackson will prove that whole agent led pre-draft preparation process is overrated?

If they actually watch the tape instead of being taking in by the early narratives....I think something weird happens when people watch Jackson tape and see him run. It reminds me of this commercial:
Seeing Jackson run is blinding.
True story. Its in one of items I posted i'll find it.* A Louisville scout showed Petrino Jackson's scouting tape with Jackson's runs included but it didn't catch Petrino's eye. Later the scout took the same tape and removed the runs then Petrino asked the scout who is that kid...can we get him.
But yeah, Jackson is easily in the mix just based on his passing alone but somehow his dynamic running ability is a negative.
I only highlighted Lamar's ~80 yards toss in highschool because Allen's 80 yard heave caught everyone's eye at the proday.
Petrino took the Louisville job in January 2014, and Thomas followed him, continuing to recruit Jackson. He had a tough time selling his boss on the quarterback’s tape, though, so he came up with a different approach. “His highlight film at first was runs and then throws,” Thomas says. “I told [Swain], Hey, put that throwing on his highlight film first. Don’t put that running crap up first.” Swain changed the film and posted a new highlight tape to Hudl. Thomas sat down with Petrino in the offensive meeting room. Have you told me about this kid before? “Yes, coach.” Can we get this kid? “Coach, I got him!”

Ist it weird how that works? This kid has all the same arm talent and passing ability of the other top QBs in the draft, yet the fact that he can run like a scalded dog somehow takes away from that.
I dont understand the detractors, this kid has shown he can stand in the pocket and throw the ball, he has shown he can work from under center. I am so impressed with how effortless his throws are. Just a quick flick of the wrist and he is throwing it 40 yards downfield.
and when the pocket breaks down and he gets in the open field he is a beauty to watch. How is that a bad thing ?

I love the people who recognize his talent and want to "scheme" ways to get him the ball by moving him to WR.

Mason Rudolph had more passing tds and more total tds than Lamar just to keep the facts straight.
Mason 37 passing tds and 10 rushing tds equals 47 total TDs
Lamar 27 passing tds and 17 rushing tds equals 44 total TDS
Just saying.
Anyways I think Jackson has tons of talent and I think he will be an NFL starter for sure. The question with any QB that in college ran the ball a lot is will they be able to hold up at the NFL level. Lamar is kind of dainty which lets him runs great but I worry if he can survive taking hard hits in the pocket with his body frame. There is no way to know if he can or not until he gets to the NFL. This is why many teams will pass on him even though he has so much talent. Rosen will also probably slide because teams will worry about durability issues.
Durability is always going to be an important factor in teams choosing a franchise QB. Running QBs tend to have a hard time making it in the NFL or having a long and healthy career.
