According to President Donald Trump, Matt Pottinger doesn’t exist. Which might come as news to Matt Pottinger.

In a morning tweet that was quickly debunked by reporters – and even a former colleague of Pottinger – Trump wrote today, “The Failing @nytimes quotes ‘a senior White House official,’ who doesn’t exist, as saying ‘even if the meeting were reinstated, holding it on June 12 would be impossible, given the lack of time and the amount of planning needed.’ WRONG AGAIN! Use real people, not phony sources.”

Trump was referring to a Page 1 story in today’s New York Times about the possibility of a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Wrote the Times: “Twenty-four hours after announcing that he was calling off the meeting in a letter to Mr. Kim, the North’s leader, Mr. Trump told reporters that he and Mr. Kim might yet meet in Singapore on June 12.”

The Times story went on to say, as Trump correctly noted later, that “a senior White House official” told reporters on Thursday that a June 12 meeting would be “impossible.”

I think Trump's head is so in the clouds that he genuinely sees the NK situation like 40 and Diam and the rest do - like some kind of strategy showdown. He has no clue into any details or particulars; it's nothing more than a zero sum showdown.

To him, it was "phony" based on the sole fact that in his mind, everything happens if and when he says it happens.

Trump says June 12 summit with Kim Jong Un is back on

President Donald Trump said Friday he will meet with Kim Jong Un in Singapore later this month after all, ending more than a week of uncertainty about whether direct denuclearization talks would go on.

Key North Korean official Kim Yong Chol — who is sanctioned over the 2014 Sony cyberattack — talked to Trump in the Oval Office for more than an hour on Friday and delivered a letter from the North Korean leader. In the letter, Kim was expected to show interest in meeting with Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Trump told reporters he does not expect the first summit — which got rescheduled after confusion, threats and then diplomacy — will lead to an agreement about Pyongyang dismantling its nuclear and missile programs. He said he sees a framework developing "over a period of time" and more than one meeting.

-North Korea's top three military officials have been removed from their posts, a senior U.S. official said.
-Trump on Friday revived the summit after canceling it a week earlier. The United States is seeking a negotiated end to North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
-U.S. officials believe there was some dissension in the military about Kim's approaches to South Korea and the United States.
