Complaint against Kellen Winslow II alleges 5 incidents including sexual assault and burglary

The complaint outlining the charges faced by former NFL player Kellen Winslow II — son of Charger's great Kellen Winslow — points to five alleged offenses since March, including accusations of sexual assault and burglary with intent to commit rape.

Winslow II is due in court this afternoon to face arraignment on nine felony counts related to the accusations. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Winslow II was arrested, and his house was searched, on Thursday. He remains jailed with no bail.

The charges include two counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy and one count of forcible oral copulation. Other charges include kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, residential burglary and indecent exposure.

Among the charges in the complaint obtained by the Union-Tribune:

Kidnap, rape and forced oral copulation of a 54-year-old woman in March;
Kidnap, rape and sodomy of a 59-year-old woman in May;
Indecent exposure in May;
Burglary with the intent to rape a 71-year-old woman in June;
Burglary with the intent to rape an 86-year-old woman also in June.
This is his second arrest this month. Last week, he was briefly jailed on suspicion of burglary. His new arrest came on the same day he was to appear in a Vista courtroom for arraignment in the burglary case.

Winslow II, 34, was initially taken into custody June 7 after deputies responded to reports of a possible burglary in the Park Encinitas Mobile Home Park on El Camino Real near La Entrada.

Around 2:40 p.m. that day, a resident reported seeing a stranger walk into a neighboring residence. The neighbor confronted the intruder, who subsequently got into a black SUV and left, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies stopped and arrested Winslow II, and booked him into custody on one count of burglary. He soon posted $50,000 bond and was released from Vista jail.

His publicist said the arrest was the result of an over-reaction from a neighbor who saw him at the residence of a couple that was not home.

The day after the arrest last week, the publicist supplied a statement from another of Winslow’s defense attorneys, Colorado-based Harvey A. Steinberg, who said Winslow II “emphatically denies committing any burglary.”

“He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park,” Steinberg said, adding that Winslow II “looks forward to being vindicated” in court.

On Thursday, Brian Watkins, the attorney who said he was representing Winslow in the burglary case, declined comment when reached by phone.

Winslow II grew up in San Diego and attended Patrick Henry and Scripps Ranch high schools before attending the University of Miami. The sixth draft pick in 2004, he played in the NFL for 10 seasons, until 2013.

Breaking and entering the households of older defenseless women, then raping them?

The ex-NFL star just appeared in court -- in shackles -- where officials spelled out the case against him.

Prosecutors say Winslow picked up 2 hitchhiking transients -- one in March and one in May -- drove them to an isolated location and raped them.

In both cases, officials say Winslow threatened to kill them if they told anyone.

As for the alleged attempted rapes of two elderly women -- 71 and 86 -- officials say in both cases he broke into their mobile home units with the intent of raping them ... but ultimately left before anything happened.

Prosecutors say cops have had Winslow under surveillance for a while -- and saw him trying to sell his H2 Hummer in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The judge ultimately deemed him a danger to the public and ordered him to be held without bail.

Winslow pled NOT GUILTY to all of the charges against him.

Inside the courtroom, Winslow was supported by family and friends ... including his father, Kellen Winslow Sr. -- the former NFL star.

As we previously reported, Winslow was arrested Thursday after officials say they found evidence to charge the ex-NFL star with 9 felonies ... including forcible rape, forcible sodomy, kidnapping and burglary. The 34-year-old has been in custody since then.

If convicted on all charges, the former Cleveland Browns tight end faces life in prison.

There will be and it might be a valid argument for his behavior. Doesn't justify it, but it may help explain his mental problems. You would have to be seriously wrong in the head to do a few of the things they've charges him with, let alone all of them.

I think there is a real possibility that these actions are related to head injuries. It doesn't justify the actions but it could help explain them.

I seem to remember one preseason game Winslow's rookie year where he got knocked the heck out on a kickoff return.

You have to be a special kind of messed up to want to abduct and rape homeless women 30+ years older than you...

I think the facts are already out: His wife is kinda hot and he is really guilty.

Yeah, it can be tough, for all the public to view, to accept your husband is a monster.

I mean, look at Aaron Hernandez's Fiance. He murdered her sister's boyfriend/husband. Yet, she stood by him.

And Bill Cosby's wife who stands by him through all this craziness. Or the wife of the guy who left his baby in a hot car to die in Georgia.


There's gotta be some real coming to terms realizing the person you love is a monster. Make it as public as this, and it's even harder to identify with.

Multiple witnesses can’t identify Kellen Winslow as their attacker

The preliminary hearing has commenced in the criminal case against former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II. As explained by FOX 5 in San Diego, the prosecution may have a problem.

Three of the unnamed witnesses who allegedly had interactions with Winslow under suspicious and/or criminal circumstances could not identify him in court.

Jane Doe 3, a 58-year-old woman, said that a man named “David” entered her property and “dropped his shorts and exposed himself.” However, she could not identify Winslow as the man who committed those acts.

71-year-old Jane Doe 4 heard about Winslow’s arrest while watching the news on TV in early June, and she thought he was the same man who had entered her home a day earlier. She could not confirm in court, however, that Winslow was the man she saw in her home.

Jane Doe 1, a 54-year-old transient, was lured into a Hummer and raped in March. However, she too could not positively identify Winslow as the assailant while testifying in court.

(Coincidentally (or not), the Kellen Winslow who appeared in court on Wednesday doesn’t look much like the Kellen Winslow we’ve become accustomed to seeing over the years. Instead, he looks more like Steve Urkel.)

Another woman who allegedly was raped by Winslow is expected to testify in court on Thursday. If she can’t identify Winslow, it could be difficult for the prosecution to convince the presiding judge that enough evidence exists to justify taking the case to trial. If the victims are unable to identify the attacker at trial, it will be difficult to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Is actually Kelly Winslow, Kellen Winslow's long lost identical twin, but he's the good one.

How much money did Kellen spend on his lawyer? Full hair? Glasses? A nice suit, with an elegant tie? This can't be the solja, the mrsa mercenary that we all grew to hate. That's only a man who is trying to convince a jury that this man couldn't be a sexual predator on old ladies.
