We are in the most heavily taxed group in the country.
GOP won't pay crap. Dems want more and more to give people who don't want to work more.
I don't want to get too personal here, but we support my mother-in-law and my wife's sister. We give money my sister-in-laws kids. They have more TV channels than we do, but they can't pay the freaking rent.
Additionally, we are very involved in local charities. I tried to start something for our underprivledged youths and I thought my success as a teacher would mean something, but man, dealing w/politicians is so whacked. Thus, we spend time at homeless shelters and donate as much as we can.
Again, I am not complaining...........but, I am telling you, it is a struggle to pay the monthy bills.
It would be best for you to pay your bills first, then do the other stuff. Just saying.
But,come on - over $300,000 in income, and you struggle to pay your bills? Sell a house. Tell your sis in laws kids to deal with it - you aren't paying for t.v. for them.
I am not saying we make the right financial choices, arch. I'm saying that we get the "blank" taxed out of us so the truly rich and those who don't want to work can feed off of our hard work. I'm saying we are not "rich." I am also saying that we are thankful that we have the ability to do what we do.
And if you think that elected officials are going to bring about change, then you are delusional....
I agree with you 100%... the political process has spent ... well since its inception... moving in the direction of protecting itself. That's why they are rarely held accountable and why congress usually has a horrible approval rating, yet a an equally huge re-election ratio.. it doesn't make sense at all.. yet it continues to happen year after year after year..
The whole system and process is rigged in their favor, yet we are counting on them to be the ones to fix it? It's no different than the economy... we are hoping that the politicians, and the wealthy folks who own them, are going to give up some of their wealth and power to take care of the little guy? Really, do we think that is going to happen?
I'm saying that we get the "blank" taxed out of us so the truly rich and those who don't want to work can feed off of our hard work. I'm saying we are not "rich."
This is why it confuses me that you are so adamantly opposed to a socialist platform.. because in a more socialist platform, (in theory) those who are "truly rich" would take on a much bigger part of the burden of supporting those "who don't want to work" and you would do less..
Now I'm not going to lie.. making over $300K a year, you are still going to get taxed out the wazoo... and I'm not advocating for total socialism... just making a statement..
Tell me more. I know you are not referring to old school USSR style communism. I'd like to know what you think is so wonderful about communism. Living communally, sharing everything equally, everyone doing their fair share of the work? I mean it sounds good until you add humans.
Now if we are talking about Star Trek style communism, then yes maybe i could get behind that.
Well, communism is not exactly a monolith. I also don't think we're technologically there to have the type of communism (I'm positive the Hegel influence of that I desire. Which in a large part, is why a lot of pro-communist thinkers are socialists.
What I desire is a system like Kropotkin and Emma Goldman, where it's based on a direct democracy rather than just having a ruler for life. Essentially the goal of communism isn't to have a currency system at all, so there are no classes. A place where leisure time, time for oneself, is the highest selling point. Now the selling point is luxury goods + leisure time.
What Excl says about communism is very correct, that usually it works best on the small scale. There were many success communes in Spain during their revolution as well as parts of the Ukraine during the October Revolution.
how do we go about promoting these candidates so they have a realistic chance?
First step is to get U.S. citizens not registered to vote, registered. The goal should be around 80% - 90% of all U.S. citizens of voting age will be headed to the voting booths. Then a true majority will appear and the choice will be clear.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.
I did spell out a candidate that I like. Jim Webb. He's considered a conservative Democrat. But as I also said, just by the description alone he doesn't have a chance in hell. lol
That's the problem I have no idea of how to solve. Each party has moved so far to the left and right there's no room left for common sense moderation.
I think if you looked into Jim Webb some you would really like him.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
