Eh...........Lamar Jackson. He better learn to read defenses and coverages quick, or he is going to get killed.
And fix his footwork.

This is great.
Preseason football on NBC and a show on the HOF inductees on NFL Network.
Welcome back, NFL football. Yep! I didn't even know there was a preseason game on until I went on this thread. I managed to see most of the 4th quarter last night. It was nice to watch, but anticlimatic since it's preseason. Also the announcers didn't talk about the game much at all, just other stuff, which I thought sucked some of the energy from the game. All-in-all I'm just happy it's football season again.

I think it is pretty cool how Randy Moss has matured. I think it is cool how he is honoring the hall and not making this about him like TO is.
I also think that Randy Moss was the most explosive, dangerous receiver who ever lived. I am not saying he was the best, but the dude's speed and amazing catching radius scared the crap out of all defenses who had to try and defend him. At the end of the day ... hes a GREAT SUCCESS STORY ... Most forget his troubles as a teen and his childish behavior even Late into his NFL career .. He seems to have matured into a good dude ... LOVE IT when it turns out like that ... Good for U Mr. Moss ... And congrats on your induction ..

FWIW ...
The way there calling the new helmet rule now will not be the same way they call it in the regular season ...
There going to “crack” down on it during the pre-season ...
Go over the game film with the officials ...
Then in their minds they’ll have a better “handle” on how to enforce the rule ... good luck with that one in this case ... *L* ..
My point ... what is called a penalty in pre-season may very well not be a penalty when the season starts ...
I agree with vers .. this rule is a NIGHTMARE to officiate ... there’s nuttin that can be done about it ... its gonna be REAL UGLY with this rule this year ...
There’s not a single NFL official that doesn’t know this ..

Btw====BS flag on helmet hit by number 46.
I already hate this rule!!!! +1 This rule will be worse than the replacement refs fiasco. It's gonna be bad.

Blindfold your QB... seven step drop... just throw it as high and far as you can throw it... Moss will go up and get it - between three defenders. There’s not a single NFL official that doesn’t know this .. Its going to be a nightmare because the league has been promoting helmet hits for long, and we see it in almost every game. If players stop leading with helmets, coaches encouraging such hits and announcers cheering big hits and player punishment, then its not going to be that hard. You cannot have hard helmets and a rumbling mentality, that's just criminal.

It's good to be back!
I don't watch the HOF game.....if I wanted to watch guys who won't make it, I'd watch college football re-runs.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm just one who can't seem to get very excited about preseason. Sure I watch all the Browns preseason games but in reality, it tells me very little. I'll use last year as an example. 4-0 in the preseason.
The O is playing against vanilla D's so it's hard to really garner much from it. I mean I guess if a guy is terrible at his position you may see that, but otherwise I don't think it tells us anything. The same holds true for your D.
Game three, when the starters usually play quite a bit more does peak my interest.
To me the only real importance is the injury report. I certainly hope we don't sustain injuries in what amounts to little more than scrimmage games. I agree with players that preseason should be shortened.
It does however signal that the NFL season is soon upon us. For that I'm certainly grateful.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I like preseason mainly because all of us get to latch on to a 5th/6th/7th rounder or UDFA who plays well, and then irrationally argue that he’s the best player on the team, if only he was given the reps to show it.

Thats not even close to why its going to be a nightmare ... not even close .. Just ignore him. Your first post was all over it. You are exactly right that the refs are always more strict w/new and updated rules in preseason than the regular season. You were right about they than discuss those calls before the regular season and adjust accordingly. You are also right that this rule is too subjective and it's going to be a nightmare. Bro, I seriously think this is the dumbest rule they have passed in years. Decades even.

I can’t argue with that ... not even a little bit ...
Its a HORRIBLE RULE ... and an almost impossible one to officiate ... i think its hands down the worst rule they’ve dreamed up in decades ...
5 or 6 years ago I thought the NFL was by far the best officiated of the 3 sports ... today its as bad as basketball ... baseball has actually improved ... immensely ... thats due to training and take a look at todays umps .... theres a few overweight but there’s no more Eric Greggs or Ken Kaiser’s or John McSherry’s ...
In football they started added in rules that brought in “gray” area for the officials ... now they have to “think” about those calls and there not just “reacting” like U do when its a black and white rule ....
I hope that makes sense ... it did in my head ... *LOL* ..

I always look at it from the officials' perspective, and this is the case ... how on earth can you officiate with such gray area

The ONLY way 2 eliminate Leading with the Helmet is to ELIMINATE THE HELMET. Watch now Goodell will eliminate the helmet stating if you want to lead with the head, you ain't gonna be around long. And he's just crazy enough to believe it.

Welcome back, NFL football. I agree. Speaking of the NFL network, comcast here recently made it a $10 add on. It was part of a higher tier channel selection, but you didn't have to pay another $10 a month to watch. I passed. Is it like that for you and others?

I also like Collinsworth. Mostly because he calls it like he sees it. He doesn't shill for the league when a bad call is made by the refs.

One thing is clear in almost all of the speeches each year and that is that these guys honor all of those that have helped them.
Then, of course, there is TO.
