You are talking about 2009, before OSU ever hired Urban as HC right?

Honestly, how about instead of trying to find a way Urban is not at fault, we realize that the dude knew one of his coaches was beating a women, and he did nothing about it. If this is try hes a POS and should not be leading young men and held as a shining role model.
sheesh, you people care more about football game than you do the fact a women was getting beaten by her husband, and not one MAN stood up to stop it. That's all 100% true, IF he was beating her. Do you know he was? Could he just have been a loud, mean jerk that grabbed her arm a few times while she was hitting him? I don't presume to know anything about their relationship or struggles, but I know of other couples that had complex relationships that could be debated with who was the "abuser" or if it was equal. I knew a woman that would start the fight with her guy, get in his space, point and push his face, he'd push her away and she'd run to anyone claiming abuse. I'm not saying this woman did the same thing, but I don't think it would be fair to fire all the coaches, the AD and implode a program because a couple had a few fights three yeas ago. IF he was beating her and everyone knew it, okay, but until we know that, we need to wait. I don't think people care more about football than an abused woman, I think people want to be sure what happened before making a decision.

The Media is hammering Urban like he beat her, IF this guy beat her he deserves everything he gets because beating women and children is not a good thing for any man to do, but to crucify Urban when all they have on him is hearsay is totally wrong ... It used to be you were innocent until proven guilty

Yet in another forum he swears up and down people are innocent until proven guilty. Even O.J. The dichotomy here is astounding.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

How would u handle it if your wife showed u at least one if not multiple texts from a female in your “parish” about her husband beating her ... and up knew dude was accused of it a decade earlier .... This should be an interesting response ... and by interesting i’m Curious to see how u SPIN URBAN NOT REPORTING IT and not doing one single damm thing about someone who either has a WHACKED OUT WIFE or has a serious anger issue ... This was the 2nd time dude did this WHILE WORKING FOR URBAN ... So how would u handle it Pastor? ...

Because I have a problem with women beaters, and I have a problem with people who knowingly hire women beaters, then act like they don’t know what’s going on when asked about it. I also look at precedent. People in a position to hire/fire, a position of authority, can’t play stupid anymore about what their employees are doing. It would be pretty dishonest for anybody to claim urban didn’t know about this, just look at what was going on under his watch in Florida. Look at the people at Michigan state and penn state who got fired for knowing but not reporting. Look at the Olympic situation. It just can’t be tolerated anymore, I don’t care how great the coach is or how prestigious the football program. If Jim Tressel had to resign over some dumbass kids trading memorabilia for tatts, then this particular incident is certainly worthy of a coach losing his job over hiring a woman beater. That’s just my opinion. I wouldn’t want my kid learning from a woman beater. And I damn sure wouldn’t want my kid learning under a guy that hire him knowing that happened. It sends a very wrong message. Just like I wouldn’t want my daughters training under an AD that did nothing about a team doctor sexually assaulting student athletes. What does that say about me as a parent? I understand certain people will say their typical “liberal agenda”and witch hunt comments. But that’s just how I feel. I hate domestic violence, and I dislike enablers. Cause if you don’t do anything despite knowing about it, you’re enabling. Again, that’s just my opinion. Would urban had kept the guy employed if that was his daughter the coach beat? Thanks for the reply ... not sure how i missed til now being the next response below my question ... ooooops ... Not sure i disagree with a word u said ... I just deleted a response in this thread that brought up what happend at Fla. ... i’m Obviously not a fan of Urban ... it has ZERO to do with football ... Was just wondering why u wanted him fired ...

No way should he be fired. It's wrong to convict people w/out knowing all of the facts and/or a trial. Is there going to be a trial in this case? In this day and age, I honestly struggle to understand what makes a person stay with someone who abuses her/him and/or the kids... Specially don't understand when they blame others.... And I'm a liberal.... ^ Blaming the victim is wrong.

that's a pretty confident statement by Meyer ... the police testimony will be the key IMO
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Remember when he lied to the media about the 2015 incident? Probably shouldn't have done that. Why didn't Ohio State fire the guy in 2015 if Meyer let them know what was going on?

Were charges ever brought against Zach Smith by his wife? My understanding is that they weren't, but I could be wrong. The key takeaway from Meyer's statement (if true) is that he was in compliance with his contractual obligation to report what he knew.

Zach Smith says Urban Meyer knew about a 2009 incident with his wife and he "let due process run its course."

Gene Smith called Smith back in 2015: "They handled it exactly how they should've handled it. The police alerted them. They investigated it, and there were no criminal charges."

In just an hour, the story has gone from what Urban Meyer knew to what Gene Smith knew. We have to hear from Gene Smith next.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

so it appears Gene Smith is now under the bus, or at least the next to explain himself

If nothing else, Meyer's statement should give pause to some of the virtue-signaling celebtards at ESPN, not to mention the local sports talk yay-hoos who couldn't get to their high horses fast enough to condemn him when this story first broke.

If I'm following the interview correctly, Smith says that Meyer, OSU's athletic department did the correct things ... the police department took the info, investigated, and never charged anybody

If Smith is innocent, why did Meyer fire him? If Meyer actually believes he is innocent, then he should have stood by his guy no matter what. Also, why did Meyer lie to the press?

On what Urban Meyer knew in 2015: “To be honest, that's all confusing to me. When I heard he said that at Big Ten Media Days, my initial reaction was he was responding to the storyline out there that I was arrested for felonious abuse, which never happened.”

His statement indicates he was not prepared to discuss a sensitive personnel situation with the media. Given that no charges were brought against Zach Smith and he was still fired, Meyer had to be concerned with slander laws, not to mention the possibility of OSU being sued for wrongful termination by Smith. The guy said he doesn't think he did anything to warrant being fired. A simple "no comment" would have been the way to go, and Meyer acknowledged that.

He couldn't say, "Zach beat his wife, so we canned him". If there were no charges and nobody was convicted, you can't out a person like that to the media. Meyer and OSU would get sued. I feel Urban commented on the final charges, which was nothing. And he didn't go into any detail of what might have happened, because it's private business and he can't comment on a former employee like that. Makes sense so far.

A lot of Ohio State and Urban haters are ignoring the comments that Dawg4Life first posted. I imagine they don't want to believe that both men might be innocent. Just convict them w/out due process.
I don't know if they are true or not, but I would suppose that if the wife came to practice drunk and was stirring crap up that it can be easily verified or refuted. I imagine that if she called 911 that many times and the police stopped believing her claims, that those things can be checked.
It really bothers me that some of you jump to conclusions w/out all the facts. Hang the man for an accusation. That's wrong! I feel the same way about people who neglect the words of victim. Both sides are disgusting!
I know all about the dangers of false accusations. And even if the accuser later admits she lied, the punishment of the alleged aggressor never ends. You can lose a job that way. And again, even IF the accuser admits she lied, your employer will not rescind the punishment because of the fear of the public's reaction to the real "victim" in the situation.
Can you imagine listening to tens of thousands of guys like cfrs, will, Swish, and Diam who automatically convict a man of a crime w/out a fair trial and knowing all of the facts. An organization doesn't want that kind of negative publicity. So instead of taking the right course of action, they get rid of the "real" victim.
Sickening!
