Grad school sucked up my reading juices the last few years, but I've been working on getting back into reading for enjoyment.

Here's my current stack:

Annihilation and Authority by Jeff Vandermeer

I finished up Annihiliation last night, and I got it due to the movie that came out. It looks a bit like a David Lynch flick, and the book is all sorts of X-Files/Stranger Things/Twin Peaksy. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good sci-fi journey.

Noumenon
-A story about clines to a distant world that may contain intelligent life. It won a few awards and critical acclaim, so I figured I'd check it out. I'm not too far invested into it.

We All Looked Up
-Follows teenagers as an asteroid is about to destroy Earth.

It's Kind of A Funny Story
-Book about a true account of an author who struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. Wanted to read it as it was on the bargain shelf, and gives insight to a topic near and dear to me.

Star Wars From A Certain Point Of View
-A short story collection for ancillary characters from the original trilogy.

Bernie Sanders: Our Revolution
-Democratic Socialist reading is fun.

Alexander Hamilton
-Biography of Hamilton's life. It inspired the musical.

Twin Peaks Final Dossier
-A short read to fill in some gaps not shown on season 3.
---------------------------------------

So what are y'all reading?

I recently read Moby's memoir. I needed to learn more about him.

It covered his early life up until the point he got famous.

And was very interesting.

If you would like to learn about a rock star who came from nothing and made something of himself, this is a good read.

I guess all rock stars are that way.

But he is a christian vegan straight edge rock star (up until he fell off the wagon)

Anyways, very different sort of fellow and I enjoyed reading his story.

The Hamilton book is very good ... good choice

I want to start reading the "Killing" series

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

The only time I read a book, (other than spanish textbooks) is in bed.

Currently, on my nightstand:

Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader is a trivia book.

The 100 Most Influential People is exactly that.

Here’s the top-10:

1. Muhammad
2. Isaac Newton
3. Jesus Christ
4. Buddha
5. Confucius
6. St. Paul
7. Tsai Lun
8. Johann Gutenberg
9. Christopher Columbus
10. Albert Einstein

Each of the 100 people in the book has a short chapter that discusses their influence on mankind with a persuasive argument why they're on the list and why they're ranked where they are.

I am an English major (retired teacher) who got over force fed reading and have dedicated myself to classy junque: well done fantasy, sci-fi, horror, graphic novels, military sci-fi, space opera, and the hybrids of these. Currently it is Starship Troopers, Lovecraft early fiction, and I need to go to the book store. Again.

I'm still reading American Sniper. I usually only read when I'm having trouble sleeping these days so it's taking me a long time to complete it, but it's interesting.

I wanted to read the book, but then I learned about him being a completely unreliable narrator.

Used to be a voracious reader pre kids. Hard to find time these days.
Anyways, on the "to do" list,

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.....and another book I can't remember of his and finish his Sandman graphic novel.
I'm mid way through, The Great Hunt, the 2nd instalment of Wheel of Time.
I've got the complete H.P.Lovecraft to start.
I recently bought Stephen Kings "IT" on a whim.

See how I go lol
