Khalil Mack won DPOY. Garrett is Khalil Mack territory.

I would probably do this.

Yeah, me too.

I doubt the Raiders would. If you were a Raider fan, would you be happy with that?

If I were a Raider fan I'd already be upset with the situation ... that would make me more angry too

True.

One territory, two different perspectives.

I love Myles, but he isn't in Mack's territory yet.

Didn't Mack make the Pro Bowl at two different positions in the same year?

Vers, I know Mack is a great player.

But he weighs 247lbs. I have not seen many of his games.
Mostly highlights.

Do you see him as DE in Williams Defense?

Or a rush outside linebacker?

He seems small for a true DE in a 4-3.

I don't mean this to be snarky, bro. I promise. But, it might come across that way. So, I want to reiterate that I am not being snarky.

I think that we place too much importance on classifying guys as a DE or OLB. I think Mack is an edge rusher. That is perhaps the second most important spot on the field. I think he is the premier pass rusher in the league. It's close, but I would give him the edge over other guys like Miller and Donald. I would not want to say he is a DE or OLB. I say he is an edge rusher who can disrupt games.

You also might want to consider that he made the Pro Bowl at DE and OLB in the SAME FREAKING YEAR! He might be the only guy to ever do that. Well........maybe some dude made it as a QB and kicker or punter. But, you get the point.

The above goes to show you that Mack can either rush the passer or drop into coverage. I think Williams would use him mainly to rush the passer. Him and Myles. Oh man! I think we might switch it up and let him cover the RB in plays where we think he is running to the flat.

I'm getting so excited, but this is probably a huge pipe dream.

I'd be willing to give up a lot...but not include our 1st...unless we could pull an NBA and somehow protect that pick in case we suck again.

we're going to have to give up a 1st for sure. It'll be a steep price.

Something like:

2019 1st Round pick
2020 2nd Round pick
Jamie Collins
Emmanuel Ogbah

I knew his awards. That's why I asked how would Williams place him.

I agree. Just use him. Just thinking of Ogbah gone and Mack there.

Curious.

Good points.

If that is the price tag, it's not worth it.

Here's what I would offer.

2019 2nd Round pick
2020 2nd Round pick
Jamie Collins

bonefish, I have been doing some reading since I made my reply to you. I didn't realize that Mack was as good in coverage as he is. I had a feeling after the dual-position award, but man.........this guy can do it all.

I think my biggest concern isn't the compensation but combining the compensation w/the cost of keeping him long-term.

exactly bro.

we're gonna have to give up a crap ton just to get him here, and we can say goodbye to a great cap situation once its time to pay him.

if Dorsey is seriously considering this, then we get to see the main issue fans in KC had with him: his ability to manage or mismanage the cap.

i personally hope we can pull it off, but like you said...at what cost.

Man, Dorsey has to feel like Adam felt in the Garden of Eden story. Man, that is a juicy apple. But, at what cost.

I think both stories might be fictional, but hey.......LOL

I would hate to give up a 1st round pick even though I know Mack is worth it. I still feel we are in a rebuilding mode and parting with picks is dangerous territory.

I will say this. I actually think that the Raiders would want more for Mack than 1st round pick, Ogbah, and Collins.

lets hope. personally, im worried that we might go from one extreme to another.

Sashi couldnt pick the right players to save his life. i cant even give him credit for the garrett pick because that was the most obvious #1 draft choice of any non-QB in years.

but he was able to get us so many assets and such a great cap situation.

now we have dorsey, who picks amazing players from all over the board, as well as bringing in quality guys from FA, but sucks with managing assets and cap.

like, i dunno if i would part with anything more than a 1st rounder and collins for Mack. throw in a 2nd rounder than maybe. but two first, mostly like a quality player, and THEN have to pay mack?

you can hardly make the case to trade for a top tier QB in that sort of situation, nevermind a defensive player.

I'm probably the biggest draft pick apologist there is, and even I'd be willing to give up the 2019 first rounder.

Do you have new information?

Dave posted the same stuff minus the 2020 2nd round pick?

I ask you this because that is a fairly significant difference.

Nothing credible other than that radio conversation from this afternoon. We'd want to give up Collins (his and Tyrod's contracts come off the books in 2019 and it would even out with Mack's) ... and they'd also want Ogbah, who is not a slouch DE.

In essence, they view getting Ogbah and Collins as value of the difference between a 1st and 2nd rounder (they're asking for two 1sts)

I know Mack is a stud, but, man, that’s a lot of quality players and picks.

I honestly don’t know if I could do that trade.

But, I am a play-it-close-to-the-vest kind of guy.

it is a haul for sure. we'd have to gauge how much better we think Mack is than Ogbah .. and if it's worth THAT much

No offense, but Mack is so far superior to Ogden that it isn't funny. And I like Ogbah. I'm wondering if people haven't watched Mack play? I know a lot of people "brag" about not watching other games, but man........I do watch other games. Mack is a stud.

I heard it was 2019 1st, Ogbah, and Callaway. Just waiting to see if another team betters that offer.

So the lightest DEs in the NFL are 245 pounds... on average they're like 265... It's not out of the question. It's all about how he's used.

I think he's worth it.

I agree.

Especially because it seems like a bunch of teams want him.

Quote:
With less than 24 hrs to go before the cut-down day deadline, the trade market for #Raiders star pass-rusher Khalil Mack is robust, I’m told. There are enough teams interested where the chances of Mack being traded is very real. Oakland is gauging and listening. Tune in tomorrow.

When everybody wants your player and is willing to give up assets and sign him to a huge contract, maybe you should just sign the player. Jon Gruden trading Khalil Mack is a disaster for the Raiders.

Mack is a top five non-QB in the league. If those guys are available, and they never are in the NFL, you get them and figure out the rest later.

Our cap should be fine until Mayfield, hopefully, gets a second contract.

This would be like if we trade Myles Garrett three years from now (after he won DPOY and was a two time All-Pro). The point of drafting players is to get guys like Khalil Mack and then keep them as long as they are good.

Oh and BTW, It's reported that the Browns have like 55 mil in free cap space...

If guys like Khalil Mack are out on the market, you go get him.

$61.8 in cap space. And if Collins is apart of a trade his salary would cancel Mack's out somewhat.
