Hell, Haitians are more united than us.

I don't need to explain any of it, because I live in reality and know he nor Obama are solely responsible for any of it, and
ultimately I don't really care what over-zealous pundits on either side think.

If people would quit hardlining everything and realize that almost everything in life is based on more than any one single factor, and that to make a better America, we need to quit arguing about the past, and start working in conjunction for our future.

You are making the mistake of trying to use logic in a forum that disdains it.

This is the place where hate, divisiveness, and labeling are kings.

I guess my point is, we can keep doing it the way we have, because that has been working so well. Or we can try move passed it and try a different way. But it has to start somewhere, with someone.

I don't know if there is a metric to measure "unitedness" but I suppose it's possible. The violent crime rate is 50% higher than ours if that is any kind of measure of being united..

But if you want folks to be united.. make everybody similar in class (in the case of Haiti, that's extremely poor) and have 96% of the population of the same color and ethnic background..

People feel united for 1 of 2 reasons.. they share a common bond or they have a common enemy.. that's why the only time this country feels united is when we have a common enemy to focus on, in the absence of a common enemy, we fight amongst ourselves because most people find that more appealing than finding a common bond.

In part.. we also have huge and powerful segments of our economy that profit significantly more from fear and divisiveness than they do from peace and unity.

False equivalence.

Ali was a conscientious objector who actually went to jail for his beliefs. Cadet bone spurs didn't have beliefs. Oh, sorry... he believed that he didn't want to serve his country.

Dude was a straight-up coward.

and thats what bothers me the most bro.

and its just my personal opinion. i can't stand people who talk about the military and respect for the military, but then vote for draft dodgers for the title of commander in chief. i personally consider that a slap in the face to every last person who fought in the US military, starting at the revolutionary war.

its just flat out disrespectful to me. at a time when the draft was policy, the country called on men to serve, and rich assholes constantly got deferments and crap, while people like us went there and did what they felt was right, regardless on if the war itself wasn't.

ive said before, military service shouldnt be a requirement to become POTUS, but the draft era is different rules for a reason. it wasn't volunteer. if the country called, you either answered, or you crap your pants or told them your feet hurt.

its why i decided to stay out of the 9/11 thread in EE. so many people are gonna be in that thread talking about the military, talking about first responders, talking about those brave civilians who did what they could to help, despite the fact they just slapped the vets right in the face when half of them voted for a draft dodger, and didn't do anything heroic themselves.

i just will never get over that no matter what is being said. it might be unfair of me to say that, but life isn't fair.

im tired of the lip service. im tired of people saying they respect the military and vets, and then turn around and vote for the very people trying to ruin healthcare for those vets who need it the most.

9/11 is a really bad day for me. my mom is a NYrican, im sure you know what that is. that was her home. thats where part of my family is from. she's a vet too. so many vets are from puerto rico, and look how the government handled that one. and yet, we STILL have first responders from 9/11 fighting for benefits, we STILL have homeless vets, we STILL have a struggling labor force with vets, because so many stopped looking for work, because hiring vets is just like Trump's speeches and comments about vets: lip service.

people talk about how we united.

yea, for what? half a year? and that "unity" ended right when we decided to invade iraq. i've been to afghanistan. i know exactly what its like going over there. the only thing/reason we united is to kill the enemy. we didn't put our difference aside for an extended amount of time. we didn't end racism. we didn't end income inequality. we didnt end gender bias and anti-LBGT discrimination.

we just united to kill some middle easterns.

all the crap people say, especially on this board, is lip service.

yes!! and i have repeatedly that over and over again.

the SAME standard applies to trump, and once again, i have stated that over and over again.

Trump could still be some bachelor billionaire saying "you're fired" on tv every week. he can do whatever he wants. i have LITERALLY stated that i dont think draft dodgers should go to jail or anything like that.

but you should NEVER hold the title commander in chief! THATS IT. if you dodged the draft, you shouldnt be in charge of the same military you refused to serve with when the draft was implemented.

man bro you're so damn annoying. you'll justify anything Trump does no matter what. and you know what? if you have a problem with what i say then say so.

i served my country honorably, unlike the guy you voted for. so you can roll your eyes all you want. i have the credibility to believe what i believe.

Isn't being the President SERVING his country?

Article II Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, the Commander in Chief clause, states that "[t]he President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States."

The problem is, when you have the president attacking the free press, the FBI, the Justice department along with anyone and everyone who dares to question him, the divisiveness starts at the top. When he gets involved with one sided slants on business practices of corporations, protestors and anything that can be used as a wedge issue, the problem you speak of works its way from the top down.

Or almost as asinine as being sold an alternative narrative to distract you from the actual message.....CK kneeled to bring attention to police brutality and racial injustice, his message resonated with other players in the league, they joined him, it began to promote dialogue to address these issues; then, at some point, someone made this about respecting the troops/flag/nation/etc.

It was never about that. This is a classic case of taking an issue that affects a huge segment of the population, and, in an effort to distort the message, changing the narrative to make it about something else entirely....

It worked too.....the actual message has been buried beneath a cloud of nationalism.....

This country has become a country of sheeple...

I think you are mistaken about why Kaep started kneeling. That was the narrative after some civil rights leaders saw the opportunity, but that wasn't Kaep's intent. Dude is a fraud.

I maintain that the civil rights issues are important and we need to improve in this area, but damn it, some things are not being accurately portrayed here.

And again, I think racial profiling and stereotyping is wrong no matter what group is guilty of it. I think it does more harm than good for minorities to complain about the injustices of such despicable acts and then turn around and do the same damn thing themselves.

Stalker much? You have taken up the mantle from Arch. You stalk Swish and me like it's your job bro, and you don't get that we don't care what you think.

If you want to coddle GOPers that spew halfass whataboutisms with politeness, be my guest. But don't think for a minute that busting my chops for saying what's on my mind makes you somehow the better man. You are becoming a DT Troll, slowly but surely. I'd compare you to Vambo, but Vambo has enough class to not hide who he really is...

Maybe you should resort to sending these kinds of messages to the White House. Sometimes it almost seems you spend more time expecting posters on a message board to a higher standard than you set for the president.

Don't pick on him bruh, he's the middle man peacemaker sometimes liberal who loves his conservative brothers and just wants to get along until somebody says something he doesn't like then ...

You get my point.
