TT sucks if we get someone to take that contract I would give them a 7th. He was great for Baker to get his mind right for being a starter. He has served his usefulness for us. Great guy, class act but 16 mil to ride the pines is a heck of a lot of money.

One position I would be looking to buy is DT. I would love to find someone that could wreck havoc with the big O in the middle. Might be a few contracts looking to get dumped soon.

Jarvis Landry: Baker Mayfield throws 'with so much zing'

Jarvis Landry said he didn't even see Baker Mayfield. They haven't had many practice repetitions together, so he wasn't sure how the rookie would handle a blitzing safety. For all Landry knew, Mayfield was being sacked.

Four seconds later, Landry learned, just as his teammates, the New York Jets and fans around the league did -- the Cleveland Browns' new starting quarterback had arrived.

"I just kind of kept running and before you know it the ball was up and he throws the ball with so much zing," Landry recalled in the latest edition of NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport's RapSheet and Friends podcast. "It got to me so quickly."

Everything is happening fast with Mayfield, who needed a little more than a half of football to lead a 14-point comeback and deliver the Browns their first win in more than 600 days. The 29-yard strike that Landry alluded to not only set up the tying score but was one of seven completions between the three-time Pro Bowler and the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Landry said he came out of his first extended action with Mayfield needing to adjust some of his practice habits.

"I was talking to coach [Todd] Haley this week," Landry told Rapoport. "I got to turn up the JUGS machine to like eight or nine now, since Baker throws that ball so hard. He threw one to me in the game and I dropped it because I didn't even know how to put my hands, and before I could make the decision, the ball was on me. So, I just realized it's a little bit of a different ball, a lot more velocity, so I definitely got to get on the JUGS for that, and catch as many balls from Baker as possible."

That probably won't be an issue for the NFL's reigning receptions champion. It's just a matter of a little time. If Mayfield's debut is any indication, that might be all it takes for the Browns' fortunes to turn as well.

That JUGS machine should be getting a good workout this week... Hey Jarvis... make sure Njoku is standing in line behind you!

Baker gets it out quick with a high velocity and is highly accurate. Exciting times for sure! Rookies will make rookie mistakes but on the whole Baker should provide the best QB play we’ve seen in decades. Could be a very special year and ya know what?..... we’re DUE!

The only place I've seen anywhere that suggests to trade Tyrod was a piece where Mary Kay Cabot says she thinks they should trade him. IMO, it would be the most foolish move made by this FO. Taylor is a high quality back-up. He will be gone next year as he is only on a one year deal. Cabot is an idiot IMO

The only way I trade him is if he becomes a negative presence in the lockerroom/QB room (which won't happen IMO)

I tend to agree at this point. However there may be a point in the season where it makes some sense. I guess it just depends on who is sniffing around and what they might give.

One other factor to consider. Maybe TT is at a point in his career where being a back-up is something he would consider. Some QBs are able to get over being a starter. If we could sign him to an extension at a back-up rate, I would do that.

Dumb or not, if someone offers a 3rd rd pick right now, I take it...

However based on his first 3 games, I don't think anyone would make that offer.

Honestly, to me is makes no sense.

We traded for TT form him to sit behind Mayfield and he actually delivered..

I liked his 3 first games, saw no problem with him. He gave us a chance to win two games, and against the Jets had no chances. It was more an OL problem than a QB problem IMHO.

But that's just me
Ha, is that based on the same evaluation you made on Mayfields arm.....

More of an O-line problem? lol then why was Mayfield able to throw for 200 yards in one half of football behind that same O-line?

That is crazy talk about a 1st....I know you were just saying.

I think we have a lot of leadership on the team. You don't have to be a vet to be a leader.

Garrett is a leader.
Landry is a leader
Baker is quickly to be one
Stanton is a great mentor for Bake.
Kirksey is a leader.

There are others, not to mention the coaches who help mold them.

In all realistic fashion - what possibly could/would a QB-needy team give us for Tyrod?

6th rounder?

I wouldn't take less than a 5th. It would have to be a team that feels like they have a shot and still believes in upside with Tyrod. It's much better that he is out after sucking for 2.5 weeks than if he sucked for 8. If he sucked for 8 and then Baker made a huge splash, he may just be resigned to a back-up role. If someone loses a QB now thru week 12, make no mistake, they'll call... the rest is up to the Browns.

That is what i was thinking...a 5th rounder minimum....4th possibly....a 3rd is a stretch, but not impossible, but not probable.

With the way Taylor has played why would anyone want to trade for him? Also, if Mayfield got hurt and we had to go back to Taylor wouldn’t we be screwed?

I don't know why someone would want him? Someone may.

You are always screwed when you have to go to the back-up unless your back-up is your up and comer.

OK....I remember Earl Morrall subbing for Johnny U and doing well with the Colts. He also stepped in for Bob Gresie to win maybe 12 games of their perfect season. Damn, Earl was the best sub QB ever....maybe good enough to be in the hof....

One thing that was a point of discussion was the subject of Mayfield's arm strength... acceptable but not elite.

The fastball that Landry dropped began to answer that for me. It is highly unusual for Landry, and that type of thing only happens when the ball gets to him faster than expected. Landry was not running before he caught the ball, the ball got there more quickly than he expected.

That and the casual discussion about rotation, which is good makes me think that arm strength may not be an issue.

And then this comes out.....

^ This.

Would you like to trade us a draft pick for our concussion prone backup QB who went 4/14 for 19 yards and had 3 sacks in his last start?

He also has a 3 year track record of being a league average NFL QB who has QB'ed a playoff team. If a team is in the PO hunt but has an injured starter and an unreliable backup, Taylor could be the best available option.

It's because teams don't look at a snapshot the way some fans do. They look at the big picture. They'll look not only at this years film but also at last years film on Taylor.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't believe Taylor would draw a high draft pick or even that we should trade him for a lower pick. My point is simply that teams don't look at one game to make such a decision and injuries combined with need determine market value.

I don't have a problem w/those who think he is already great. I didn't insult those

posters. guard, Dep, and I were having a football conversation. No one bashed another.

Then, Bleeds and thriller come in and bash the character of posters who they don't agree with. And there was zero football.

This place is more like the Smack Shack than "Pure Football." I am suggesting we keep it about Pure Football and stop w/the smack talk and character assassinations.

I don't see any of the football guys speaking up, though. So perhaps everyone prefers this being the Smack Shack. That's fine.

I didnt trash anyone. I simply said there are people who are getting carried away with one half of football. Is that true ? I also said that when Baker has a poor game there will be people who overreact in a negative way. Any chance that could be true ?

I did not make any direct comments towards specific posters nor did i name any.

Why did you state that Bleeds and i have no football knowledge ? Because i indicated people will overreact as it relates to Baker ? That comment you made is without merit and indicitive of narrow mindedness.

Annnd...in your retort to my ' trashing ' of poster's character, you explicitly trashed Bleeds and I by saying we dont know anything about football. Comical.

There was a glitch yesterday, I was like Huh am I SEMI Banned...lol laugh

As for this trade TT stuff, whoa guys, I know TT has not played up to his standards which were not that high to begin with. But the guy is GOOD, GOOD for the TEAM, Good for Baker and if we do get in playoff contention, In case Baker gets knicked up TT is a great backup to have to carry us through it. He still is a team leader.

Prediction: Landry and Baker are going to become an amazing duo.

Contagious? Just remember what HUE said about our overall #1 pick. The kicker on him being our guy and THE GUY was the leadership and respect he had in the locker room from his team mates!!! We are seeing that already - we win this game (2 in a row) We are going to see some amazing things as all buy in the Baker experience and guess what - WINNING will become CONTAGIOUS!!!
